Zou Yue subtly searched for the meteor shards. 'If Prisitsky got the samples, maybe he could find a cure for this wretched virus.'
But it was nowhere to be found.
'it must have turned to ashes,' he sighed loudly. "We need to set this up. If this is the intake pipe, it really explains why we don't have any water,"
They walked over to the power grid. Fan Xui was standing there with a frustrated look while the repairman was just looking at the ground.
"Hey, we found a broken pipeline. Can you come and check it out?"
"He is useless," Fan Xui mumbled, sighing loudly. "He's not even a mechanic,"
"What?" they walked close. "You aren't a mechanic?" he peered at the middle-aged man for answers.
The man looked down with tears dripping down his face. "..."
"Answer me,"
"n-no.. I'm sorry! I'm sorry I didn't mean to lie. They said the team was going to the dam... I want to go to the dam...." he started sobbing loudly.
Hearing this commotion, Tian also came over. She slightly nudged his shoulders.
"He's not a real mechanic. He's fake,"
Tian silently glared at him. "Why did you lie?!"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"There were others.. I thought it was okay. I thought it would be fine if I followed along with them...."
"What is he even saying..." Tian frustratingly took a deep breath.
Yue understood his panicked blabber clearly. This man was acting like a mechanic and tagged along with the other repairmen just so he can meet with someone at the dam.
"Who's at the dam?"
The man gazed up with his eyes wide open. "my b-brother.. he's there. I know it. I know he will survive. He was reading this weird book about survival... he could have survived."
Tian walked away to the door. "Pack up, we are leaving."
"Wait Tian, we can try to repair this."
"No, I'm pretty sure we will make it much worse than it is. We can go back and bring more repairmen. Actual repairmen," she glared at the man.
Yue slightly frowned. "Let's wait a day. I might have found out the problem here. If we fix it, we might have water supply back."
Everyone peered at him.
"I found a broken intake pipe," Yue shrugged.
Tian closed her eyes for a moment and continued taking deep breaths. "A day and we are leaving. Go check the control room for an operational manual. There might be more issues than just a busted pipe. If it's too complicated we shall let the expert take care of it,"
Yue and Hary hurried over to the Control room, which was in the corner overlooking this whole place. The door was locked so Yue silently tore the knob and entered.
The whole place was in top shape. Everything was in order. And there was a dried-up corpse on the chair.
His body looked fresh and recently dead. This guy had a ragged business coat on the back of the chair. His beard was fully shaved, and he was well-kempt. this guy was obviously just a survivor taking homage here.
Viewing from afar, his body did not have any visible injuries, but as he got closer, he noticed his neck. There was a small bone poking out his neck.
Curiously he pulled it out. it was shaped like a dagger but it was completely translucent. It was unlike any material he had seen before. It almost resembled a bone…
Yue slightly sniffed at it.
It had a moldy fishy smell to it.
Frowning, he pushed the rolling chair that had the dead body out of the way and approached the table. There was a bottle of half-drunk whiskey and a lot of candy covers. He started rummaging through the drawers. "How are you guys so sure that there will be a manual?"
"A treatment plant-like or any factory must have an operational manual on how every machinery should be operated. It is a safety procedure." Hary mumbled softly. "Found it!" he pulled out a heavy book from the shelf behind the table. "Little too dusty... wait there's another one. Oh my bad, it was a handwritten diary," he took out another book.
The manual looked about 400 pages.
Yue glanced at Hary, blinking. "It's going to take a long time to read this shit. You think Tian will extend our stay another day?"
"No way in hell. She hates it when her mission gets intervened like this. Usually, she would go kick someone's ass but.. I think she's controlling herself because you're here,"
Yue carried the books out.
His sister was standing beside Fan Xui helping out a bit.
Yue moved close. "We found the operation manual. How are things here? We can try to start it up with Fan,"
"Fan Xui still has no control over his electricity. I fear he might hurt himself," Tian mumbled, reading the voltage information given on the electric system.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmYue silently glanced at Fan. His boyfriend looked slightly let down. "He can try it."
"That's a big risk. These machines need constant high voltage power. If he lets out too much power and the electric systems short circuits we'll have even more work in our hands." Tian shook her head. "We'll deal with this later, go see what you can about the pipe with Hary and Fan,"
Yue got close and held Fan's hand. "Let's fix the pipes and take care of this later," he handed the heavy manual to him.
Curiously Fan Xui started to read as they walked over to the broken pipe.
The broken pipe was pretty close by. If they could solder it or maybe stick it together, they would be able to fix it.
"W-wait..." the fake repairman who they did not even know the name of ran close. "This pipe needs to be cleaned out. Even if..Even if this is an automated treatment center it was closed down for four days... muck will develop at the end. We have to pump it out,"
Yue skeptically glanced at him. "How did you know that?"
"I told you... I worked at the dam. I know a thing or two about these pipelines. But I have no way to fix this if there any other major issues,"
Yue glanced at him. For once the man looked serious about his statement. "Fine where do we find the pump to clean it?"
"That's the problem. Without electricity you won't be able to use it," he pointed to a huge tube-like structure.
Yue sighed. "You're not going to suggest for us to go to the dam and fix the hydroelectric generators right?"
"n-no... your friend can do it."
"If we could find a voltage regulator or anything of that sort then he can practice his ability and we would be able to use it. Without any such devices, it would be a risk. We can easily overload the motors and that is it..."
"I know where to find one," Fan Xui looked at them excitedly. "It's written here that they have voltage regulators built into the electric system. Yue, I think I can do this."
"I can power this plant up.,"
