Chapter 252 – 252 – Happiest Day
Qian Wen peered at the photograph intensely. Aunty Nui looked about ten or twelve wearing a middle school outfit.
"Your father was older than me by four years. And Nui was the youngest. She was just ten when we all met. We lived in an area where small secluded villas were much more common. Houses were remote and there were few kids to play with. I guess that's how we all became friends…"
"My mother worked as a maid for both their houses. Yet that didn't stop us. We grew up together …"
Yue's father had a nostalgic smile on his face.
Qian had heard vaguely of this before. The Wen family used to live in some H city before his father got married to his mother and moved to G city. He never got into details regarding it.
"Time Went on…. we grew up. Along with it, feelings grew as well.." he hesitantly placed a photo on the table.
Qian picked it up. It was a photo of the three of them. His father was wearing his high school uniform, uncle Wei was in his sports t-shirt and aunty Nui was in her middle school uniform.
This photo might look normal at first glance. But Upon closer inspection, he found out that she and his father were standing much closer. Yue's father was standing kind of to the side with a bright grin on his face.
"They dated, didn't they?"
"hmm.. they did."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtQian peered up at him. He didn't seem to have any explicit reaction to this admission rather; he looked at his wife's photo lovingly. "They dated for a while…. they were a cute couple, albeit a young one."
"What happened then? Tian…."
"Fate happened. A huge scandal occurred between the Murong family and the Wen family at that time. Wen family, which was a full military family, at that point, accused Murong family of sponsoring criminal activities abroad. It was a huge debacle."
Qian tightly clenched the photo.
"The families got to know about their relationship and separated them. The Murong family that was completely humiliated by this scandal started to pressure the Wens. Unable to deal with them, the Wen family moved to G city."
Yue's dad paused for a bit, taking a sip of the water bottle.
"Yue's mum….. was pregnant by then with Tian….. She hid it from her family until the child was too old. they could not abort her." He sadly glanced at the adoption papers with Tian's name on it.
"Nui… she thought that her family would accept the child… she thought they will come to love this new growing life as their own… but.. they rejected our baby completely only because Tian had Wen blood flowing in her,"
Qian gritted his teeth silently. "They… what did the Murong do to Tian?"
"Send her off to an adoption center the moment she was born. They lied to Nui that she passed away."
Wiping his tears away, Yue's dad placed a death certificate on the table.
"I was just fifteen. She was thirteen.. we were just kids… we didn't know how to even differentiate between a fake document and a real one. We were scammed…."
Zou Wei silently glanced up, hiding his tears…
"How did you guys get married?" Qian softly whispered.
"After Tian was gone my wife lost all hope. Her family was a bunch of monsters. The only sane person was her mother….. even she was sick. She could not protect her child….."
He could not hold back his tears anymore. Clenching his fist, he let them roll down his cheeks. "They entrapped my wife in her room for three years until she was eighteen. Not even letting a ray of sun in. Those fucking monsters."
"What!" Qian loudly shouted.
"shh.. shhh.." Wei hurriedly calmed him down. "don't shout. Nui just Went to sleep."
"Uncle… how can I keep calm? They literally imprisoned her in her room without consent! It's against the law. Didn't you try to contact the police! They could have.."
"You think I didn't try! They were of no use. The Murong family has a strong hold on political power in H city. No one can go against them. Not even the police."
Qian thought about it for a second. Being trapped inside his own lab for a month felt like torture but.. Yue's mum was stuck in her own room for three years!
It must have been traumatizing.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Is that why she is sick?"
"Yes… Nui could not handle the loss of her child and her freedom. She… lost her sanity. Those fucking Murongs thought she was possessed.. but.. she was just sick. she just needed help. Fuck talking about it just making me want to stab those fucking bastards!"
Qian could not calm himself down. His blood was boiling with rage. 'fuck those cruel bastard. I hope this fucking meteor took them out! or I will bring down another virus just for them!'
"Calm down Qian. Here, drink some water…"
He took the bottle and gulped from it. "How did she escape?"
"Your father got to know of this situation and gave a helping hand. We both escaped H city and came here to G city. The first day we were there I took her to the hospital. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She had her good days and… bad days. Some days were very hard.. she was not herself.."
Yue's dad handed another photo of them as a couple. They both looked older now. Yue's dad still had that bright smile on his face while Zou Nui was standing there without any expression.
She looked like an expressionless doll.
"We got close… and eventually we fell in love," he previously handed a worn-out photo.
Qian took it carefully from him. It was a photo of their wedding day. Uncle Wei was dressed in an all-white suit and was wearing a goofy red tie. While aunty Nui was wearing a beautiful white dress. It was a short dress that came only to her knees, and it had a lot of wrinkles.
But that didn't take away the beauty of this photo.
Their eyes alone portrayed the love they held for each other.
"It was the happiest day of our lives. She looks so beautiful and bright. Like the sun. To this day, I am grateful to have her in my life. Without her, my life will not have any meaning…."
