Chapter 1164 Barbecue Ribs
After a brief conversation with Kevin, Romy returned to the room. She had gone home earlier to pack her
belongings and now decided to stay here longer with her daughter.
She glanced at the man beside the bed and gently knocked twice before pushing the door open and walking in.
"Mr. Harper, you are here." Romy forced a smile and greeted the man in front of her.
Bert watched her walk in. He wasn't good at socializing, but she was Alivia's mother, so he still tried to be
considerate. "Hello, Mrs. Clark."
Although Bert treated Alivia well, and Romy genuinely cared for her daughter, they hardly exchanged a few words.
Romy couldn't even imagine what kind of interactions Alivia had with Bert.

her age, she still felt a bit pressured to talk to him.
It was already past 11 am, and Romy placed a thermos on the table. "Mr. Harper, you haven't eaten yet, have you?
Luckily, I brought some food, all homemade. It may not be as delicious as the restaurant food, but please have
some."
Romy had anticipated that Bert would be staying with Alivia in the ward. These days, except for the time she was
around, Bert almost never left. In the beginning, she had doubts about his attitude towards Alivia, but everything
that happened afterward dispelled her doubts.
No one would put up such an act; it was a willingly given commitment.
She didn't know how to express her gratitude. She could only express her gratitude in such a clumsy way.
Bert naturally understood, so he swallowed the words of refusal that were about to come out of his mouth. He got
up, walked to the table, and sat down, silently opening the thermos.
The thermos was rose-red, and there were two brown bears printed on it. One of them had been half ground off,
which looked ridiculous in his hand.
Opening the lid, there were some simple dishes, Barbecue Ribs, Shrimp Scampi, and at the bottom was a bowl of
crucian carp soup. Although they were all home-cooked dishes, Bert could sense that Romy was skilled in the
kitchen, and the dishes looked very appetizing.
"I didn't know what kind of dishes you like, so I made the ones Alivia loves. She likes my Barbecue Ribs the most,
saying it's the most delicious dish she's ever had..." Romy's voice choked up as she spoke. Afraid that it might affect
Bert's mood, she quickly took a tissue and made up an excuse, "I'll go get some hot water."
The door opened and then closed. Bert sat at the table and looked at the dishes. After a long time, he picked up a
piece of Barbecue Ribs and put it in his mouth.

The Barbecue Ribs were sour and sweet, with the caramelized aroma of soy sauce. They seemed to have been pre-
fried, crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside, coated in a mouthwatering sauce that was very appetizing.
Bert didn't like greasy food. Compared with pork, he preferred beef. But now, when he ate this dish, he felt it was
delicious.
Did she like it very much?
Bert recalled the times they had eaten together, and he vaguely remembered that Alivia preferred dishes with a
sweet and sour taste, not too salty or spicy, but he hadn't paid much attention back then, so he never noticed.
There were eight pieces of ribs on the plate, and he finished them all, leaving nothing behind. As he looked at the
empty plate, the aroma of the ribs still lingering in his mouth, his heart felt strangely empty.
He ate what she liked, but she couldn't wake up. It didn't feel good.
Bert picked up the small bowl in front of him and drank most of the soup hurriedly. Some of the soup spilled out in
his haste, making him look a bit embarrassed, but he paid no attention to it.
