The bodyguard went ahead and opened the door for her.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBefore she could change into the slippers, she spotted Elliot sitting on the couch with Eric next to him and she froze.
"Why is Eric here?" She thought. "Did hee here on his own, or did Dad bring him here?" "Dad," she said and swiftly changed into slippers before striding up to Eric. "Why are you here?" "I told the driver to bring him here." Elliot glanced at the flowers in Layla's hands. "Who did you buy those for?" She presented the bouquet to him fawningly. "For you, of course. Dad, why did you bring him here?" "You want your passport, right? You want to file the paperwork for your marriage, and you are not doing it alone." Elliot accepted the flowers and handed them to the servant.
The servant immediately took them and left.
Eric turned to look at Layla in surprise at Elliot's words. He clearly had no clue about Layla's plan until this moment "Why are you looking atthat way?" Layla met his eyes. "I said that we will have a wedding half a year from now, but I never said that we are getting married then, did I?" Eric could not argue with her logic. After all, it would be hypocritic of him to not marry her after allowing her to move in with him. Elliot grabbed the glass on the coffee table and took a sip of water. "Eric, you are still recovering at the moment and I know that I can't ask too much of you, but there are rules that stick. If you want to marry my daughter, you do it by my rules," Elliot said. Layla lifted an eyebrow. "What rules, Dad? I didn't even know that you have rules." "Without rules, there will be chaos." He shot his daughter a cold look. "An engagement ring is required and he will get down on one knee to ask for your hand." Layla was instantly rendered speechless as she had not expected her father to make such a request "Did you propose to Mom that way before Dad? I didn't hear of this kind of routine." Layla no longer felt as nervous. "My marriage to your mom was decided by our parents, unlike your current circumstances," Elliot deadpanned. "If he doesn't do as I say, I'm not handing you your passport." Elliot's tone was determined and authoritative, so Layla knew that she would never get her passport if she refused to do as he said and admitted defeat immediately. "I will go and get the ring right now." "I said that he needs to buy it. Not you," Elliot corrected her.

"He has the money, and he can buy the ring without going out. It all justes down to whether he wants to do it," Elliot said.
Layla realized what Elliot meant and walked over to Eric. "Get someone to buy a ring for you, and we will file the paperwork for getting married today. I'm notfortable for us to stay together like this without getting married." Eric nodded at her words as he did not wish to put Layla in such a position either. "Let's do it another day! It's too rushed to do it now." Eric could not simply buy a random ring for Layla and wanted to offer her the best.
"But I want to marry you today. I don't know why, but I can't help it," she pleaded. "Just buy a random ring and propose to me. There's a jewelry store nearby." She extended her arm toward him. "Giveyour wallet, and I will send our driver to buy one there."
