Receiving tutelage for the Double Saber Kalivan technique was a little different than expected. Merlin demonstrated the individual steps of the technique several times and asked Zayn to repeat them, individually at first and then combined them into a sequence of movements and attack motions.
Zayn couldn't recall how often he repeated the same motion over and over again, but he knew that it had to be hundreds of times. It might actually be a thousand times, or in the thousands. Zayn didn't really know anymore. The only thing he remembered was that Merlin had nodded satisfied with the result.
Four months, with each month feeling like an eternity, had passed in the blink of an eye. It was about time that their hellish training ended and that they focused on the final steps to complete Merlin's mission.
Zayn was extremely satisfied with his progress over the past four months. It had been a nightmare, to put it in very simple terms, and the soulframe of his second ring was not yet filled to the brim, indicating that Zayn was merely at the Peak of the 1st Soul, but none of that was important.
He had learned the Double Saber Kalivan technique to a certain extent, improved his foundations as much as possible, and also got to know lots of things in the Archives of the Adventurer Hall and the City's Library. Improving his knowledge had been the second highest priority other than finding an Instructor. That meant, he had just successfully completed his own missions as well. There was no need for him to stay inside Zerek any longer, of course, except to hunt the Chimera in the Colosseum!
Over the past few months, the news of the decimated Undead in the central region had traveled through the surrounding area. Now everyone knew about the dangers of the Undead and that the central region was not necessarily as well protected as everyone thought it was. This realization was also why more organizations began to support the training camp which the three Big Legions were setting up outside the central region.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtZayn had heard quite a bit about both the Undead Army and the Big Three Legions, but most of it originated from rumors that reached the Adventurer Hall's Archives and Cerek's library.
The official pieces of news about the Big Three Legion's training camps were few and kept a secret from the public eye. Feeling interested in the rumors and official information that had been provided to the public, Zayn got to know a bit about the cadets in the Capital of the central region. It was somewhat interesting, but not enough for him to pay it too much of his attention. He had been more interested in the lessons he received from Merlin instead.
Merlin was a good teacher. He was calm and composed, and his explanations were extremely good as well. There was hardly a problem as long as Zayn asked enough questions whenever he was not certain that something would work his way.
Being around Merlin for the last four months showed Zayn quite clearly that his teacher was quite satisfied with his steady progress. Things would have been a little different if Zayn were to be a totally untalented fool, but that was fortunately not the case.
The atmosphere was quite good in the dojo and Merlin was hopeful that Zayn would defeat the Chimera in the Colosseum's Challenge.
Looking at the changed boy, who seemed to have aged several years within four months, Merlin could hardly stop himself from admiring the youngster's determination. He was definitely satisfied with the result of a hard investment that included money, time, and effort. The entire investment had been put into the young man who was currently wielding the Dragontale Twin Sabers in a calm but deadly manner, replicating the attack sequences he had learned.
The teenager was definitely a sight to behold. Zayn had grown more than ten centimeters within four months, or so it looked at least. He had a chiseled physique that seemed to be sculpted from marble. His bulging arms showed the high density of his muscles that were jam-packed in his body, while his veins too were prominent and coursed along the surface of his skin.
His chest was broad and powerful, his abs rippled with definition beneath the white shirt that was drenched in sweat and clinging to his body. Even Zayn's legs were well-trained and powerful, hinting at strength and agility that could be considered inhuman. His dark hair was not styled and it was messy, which only further added to his masculine looks as his piercing ocean-blue eyes seemed to take in everything in his field of vision at once.
He carried himself with the confidence of a seasoned warrior, and it was clear that he was not someone to play around with.
"You look like you're 16 at the very least, do you know that?" Merlin asked while continuing to stare at Zayn. The young Normie was only 14 years old by now but he looked far more mature than before. His body was well-trained and the baby fat had burned down as well.
Nobody would believe that the Zayn of four months ago, and the present Zayn were actually the same person. Of course, that was a great advantage.
"At least people should take me a little more seriously now," Zayn remarked and Merlin responded with an affirmation, "Well, that's for sure!"
Clearing his throat to calm himself a bit, Merlin stared at the young Normie.
"Your training is completed once you finish my last lesson," He said, attracting Zayn's attention. The corners of Merlin's lips curled into a sly grin.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"What lecture?" Zayn asked, confused. He was pretty sure that his hellish training was over. Merlin had to leave soon to embark on his journey to take revenge on the merchant family that took his arm out of pettiness and jealousy.
There shouldn't be another lesson for him to complete.
"There is one more lesson left, the most important lesson at that!" Merlin announced, clearing his throat.
"You have to defeat me!"
