As Zayn walked through the central square of the village one last time to prepare enough food and water for a week, Zayn found a large note stuck behind the blackboard of the village.
Because villages didn't have an Adventurer Hall, the blackboards were created. They were merely wooden boards with a bunch of pieces of paper pinned to them. The notes written on those pieces of paper mostly consisted of important pieces of information that should be known by everyone.
This included the precautions everyone was supposed to take when encountering the Undead. Couriers hired by the Adventurer Alliance were ordered to update the notes whenever necessary. That way even the isolated villages were informed when something interesting or dangerous happened.
As for the note that attracted Zayn's attention, it was something he would have never expected to attract his interest.
"Have the Silverheart Legion's Commander and Vice-Commander returned? The three Great Legions are searching for Cadets…Blessed or Normie doesn't matter…" Zayn mumbled to himself while continuing to read through the note.
He retrieved the business card of the Silverheart Legion and stared at it for a few seconds.
'Should I give it a try?'
He spent a few seconds thinking things through but shook his head in the end. Joining a Legion that focused on the abilities of Blessed was not actually helpful for him. Zayn doubted that the Great Legions would change their way of teaching and lessons all over again just because a few Normies may or may not apply to become Cadets of the Great Legions.
It was definitely a lucrative offer to be trained by the instructors of the strongest Legions that could be found within the central region, but Zayn could clearly fathom how much worse Normies would be treated in the Legions, no matter if the higher ups accepted their existence or not.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHis time in school was already more than enough for him to know that 'talented' Blessed would always nitpick on Normies. If not for the talented Blessed, those who were jealous of the real prodigies would always try to search for ways to boost their ego and unnecessarily bully the weak ones. Zayn had witnessed and experienced something like that often enough in the last three years.
There were other ways to learn proper swordsmanship and how to wield other weapons than by being tortured by other fellow cadets and racist instructors.
He could either teach himself, or learn proper basic weaponry without the use of soul particles by hiring an instructor. The theory behind this was pretty simple. As long as he could fight like a Warlord without utilizing soul particles, his combat prowess would be exceptional, one way or another. He would become even stronger the moment he used soul particles with techniques that didn't explicitly require them. After all, he could then choose whether he wanted to use soul particles to exert the technique or not. It was not a necessity and thus allowed him to create more varieties of movement sequences.
However, the big question was where Zayn could find someone to teach him such techniques! The Normie Union? Zayn didn't really want to join some organization for the time being.
Considering that he had learned quite a bit about the secrets behind society's attitude toward Normies, Zayn hoped that he could avoid getting pulled into some unnecessary mess. After all, he had been through enough chaos and mayhem on his own. There was no need to invite more and become a trouble magnet!
'Relying on the fragmented memories of my past is not a safe method. Money is no problem, I just need a proper instructor…' He concluded before coming to the only somewhat useful and relevant conclusion to the given situation. '...I need to look for an instructor within a city!'
The instructors in the towns and villages were unlikely to be of any use. At first, Zayn felt that it may be best to leave the central region, but that might as well hinder his advance. He knew that he could create Soulrings very fast.
Increasing his combat prowess would inevitably accelerate his progress as well. Thus, spending more time in the central region was bound to be the most, or one of the most, efficient ways to ensure his progress.
He knew that he wouldn't be treated well inside any city, but that was not necessary, to begin with. He didn't need anyone to treat him nicely because his goal was to become stronger. Earlier, Zayn wanted to become stronger to make sure that nobody would bash him just because he was a Normie, but things had changed a little.
Now that he found out a little bit more about the manipulation of the Gods and that they could control their Blessed easily, he didn't really feel safe and sound. The incidents in the Adventurer Inn, and the fact that a God caused the emergence of the Undead in the central region of the human territory made it pretty obvious that not all Gods had the human race's well-being in mind.
Zayn was not sure what exactly the Gods were planning, or what the reasoning behind the help they offered the human race by granting them bits of their power was, but all of that made him feel uncomfortable.
The worst was that he felt uncomfortable being so weak, and he didn't like feeling that way!
Zayn took a look at the map of the surrounding areas with that discomfort sweeping through his entire body. A few points on the map were not exactly to his liking. He recalled a few places from rumors. His fellow classmates made fun of him, saying that he was lucky for not going to Academy in these particular places.
Of course, his classmates were exaggerating, but it was not as if he was seeking trouble...not intentionally, at least.
"Zerak is the closest city…a month of traveling by foot. But it would take half that time, probably even less on a mount with infinite stamina….alright!" Zayn muttered to himself.
It was about time to leave the village, which he did after he finished all his purchases.
Not many people noticed that Zayn left but that was for the better.
He traveled on foot for a few hours before he put on his cloak while the Mocalw Bear Spirit emerged next to him. Zayn jumped on the Bear Spirit's back and pointed in the direction of the closest city before they set off.
The days passed in the blink of an eye. Zayn was trying to use his soul particles in a more versatile way while traveling on his Spirit's back. The trip was slightly boring but it overall it gave him some quiet time to enjoy the solitude and plan his next moves as well.
Since the Undeads had been taken care of by some mysterious powerhouses over the course of the last three weeks, there was no need to worry about that.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmTraveling through day and night, they crossed a large distance in the blink of an eye. The Mocalw Bear Spirit was not the fastest but it was comfortable to ride on it. Furthermore, it could carry multiple people which meant that the Agile Human Spirit could guide the Mocalw Spirit Bear through the darkness of the night, increasing the distance they could cover in a single day.
They had encountered a few monsters but they were quickly taken care of. Zayn acquired their soul particles, which he used to completely form the first empty page within the Grimoire of the Ancient, and began to complete the second page as well.
He collected the valuable parts of the monsters he had killed as well, increasing the wealth he had amassed quite a bit. Zayn had yet to get his hands on a sixth Spirit but he had all the necessary means to support the manifestation of another Spirit.
There was more than enough space in the Grimoire of the Ancient's empty pages and Zayn was strong enough to get his hands on a bunch of Spirits.
But rather than investing his time and energy into acquiring more Spirits, Zayn was in need of more soul particles to manifest the Grimoire's second written page and to strengthen the Spirits that were already in his possession!
