Avery let out another sigh as she placed her phone on the table.
George was one of her major clients, and Claire had personally invited her to come over, so she figured she should
pay him a visit.
Avery was about to get up when she saw Zachary working really hard on a thick mathematics workbook.
Upon paying close attention, she realized he was solving math questions for third and fourth graders.
Avery took his workbook over and asked with a frown, “Zach, you're going to enter first grade. Why are you doing
math questions for fourth graders?”
Zachary sat up straight and replied with a firm look in his eyes, “I want to skip grades and go straight to third grade,
Mommy. First-grade stuff is way too easy for me.”
Avery froze in shock when she heard that.
The sight of his serious expression reminded her of what the head of kindergarten had told her during the parent-
teacher conference.
The head of kindergarten had said Zachary was incredibly talented for his age and was on par with the child
prodigies out there.
As Zachary currently possessed knowledge on the level of fourth graders, the head of kindergarten believed that
making him go through the grades one after another like the other kids would be a waste of his time and talent.
While Avery was happy to hear that her son was talented, she had her concerns about it as well.
Most child prodigies had the tendency to burn out sooner than others, and she wanted Zachary to be able to enjoy
his childhood.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe had never considered having him skip grades at all.
However, the firm look in Zachary's eyes got Avery wondering if her decision was right. “Zach, do you know what it
means to skip grades?”
“I do, Mommy.”
Zachary looked like an adult as he stared Avery right in the eye and stood with his hands behind his back. “I'm
already six, Mommy. I have my own thoughts and opinions now. I will take responsibility for my own choices. When I
get older, I'll be able to help Daddy out with his work. That way, he'll be able to spend more time with you and
Rory.”
Cayden was so busy with his work that he barely had time for Avery, let alone Zachary and Rory.
That meant they could not enjoy their life as a family like all the other families out there.
Zachary figured Cayden being too busy with work was the reason they couldn't go hiking or traveling together.
Avery felt her eyes tear up when she saw him trying to sound mature despite being only six years old.
Why is this child so mature at such a young age?
She sometimes hoped that Zachary and Rory could enjoy their childhood in a carefree manner like the other kids.
“We'll decide on that after I discuss this with your daddy. You're still very young, Zach. All I wish for is to see you and
Rory grow up happily,” Avery said while gently caressing his cheek.
Zachary leaned in and gave Avery a kiss on the cheek. “I know, Mommy.”
Cayden had just stepped out of the kitchen when he saw Zachary kissing Avery.
Even though Zachary was his son, he still felt unhappy seeing another male kiss his wife.
There was a hint of jealousy in Cayden's eyes as he glared at Zachary's handsome face.
“Zachary, are you done with the math questions?” Cayden asked with a gloomy expression as he made his way
over.
Zachary turned around and flashed him a smile as he replied, “I'm almost done, Daddy. Look, I've already solved
the questions you gave me.”
He then picked up the workbook and showed it to Cayden in hopes of receiving a compliment.
Cayden simply glanced at it with an eyebrow arched and said, “Oh? In that case, I'll assign you another set of
questions. This workbook must be too easy for you.”
Zachary was taken aback by Cayden's words. He turned to Avery and flashed her a pleading look.
Avery pulled Zachary into her arms and shot Cayden a fierce glare. “Why are you making him do so much work at
such a young age? Even the government is trying to help reduce the amount of homework that schools give
students, and yet, you're giving him extra homework. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, do you
understand? Don't listen to him, Zach. You can go play once you've finished your homework.”
Noticing that Avery was getting angry, Cayden quickly said, “All right, we'll do as you say. Zachary, you can go play
your video games now.”
Zachary pulled a face at Cayden and flashed him a smug grin in response.
Daddy is afraid of Mommy, and Mommy listens to me. With Mommy protecting me, I no longer have to fear Daddy!
Avery then told Cayden all about George.
After learning that George was recovering from his heart attack, Cayden felt that he needed to visit George with

After all, Jeffrey used to be close friends with George. Even if that wasn't the case, he would still have to pay George
a visit as a businessman.
Although George was no longer active in the corporate world, his son William had taken over and became a
powerful individual in Ackleton. Cayden would stand to benefit from socializing with him.
Since George had suffered from a heart attack, Avery brought along some fruits that were rich in vitamins and
pectin.
After sending the kids back, Avery and Cayden headed over to the Lambert residence, which was located in a
secluded spot far away from the city.
The building looked a little old, but the plants in the courtyard were neatly arranged and well-maintained. That
showed just how much the old couple valued cleanliness and tidiness.
A white-haired old man was basking in the sun in the courtyard. That old man was none other than George himself.
He was having a conversation with William while Claire hung the laundry to dry nearby. Despite having a
housekeeper around, Claire had gotten used to doing the chores herself.
Nicole, who always dolled herself up nicely, was telling George some interesting stories about herself to keep him
entertained. George was laughing at her amusing stories when he heard the sound of a car engine in the distance.
Upon turning around, he saw a car pull up outside his courtyard.
Cayden and Avery then stepped out of the car with a basket of fruits in their hands.
Nicole's heart raced when she saw Cayden heading toward them. However, her heart felt as though it was being
stung by a million bees when she saw Avery walking next to him.
F*ck! Why would Cayden bring Avery with him wherever he goes?
