Chapter 2009 Seeking Answers
Cindy simply couldn't understand what was going on. She didn't know what was up with the few of them—all she
knew was that they were acting in a really odd manner. After a quick wash, Cindy hurried to Aurora's house without
bothering to have breakfast. Aurora didn't have much to do, so she was usually home at that hour.
However, no one responded to Cindy even after she knocked on Aurora's door for a long while. It was obvious that
Aurora wasn't home. Cindy let out a long sigh before she left Aurora's house. She had a feeling that something
must have happened, but she couldn't comprehend the entire situation.
It was about time for work, so Cindy headed directly to her workplace. When she walked out of the elevator, she
saw Mary, who was standing next to the office entrance and talking to someone else.
Cindy merely shot Mary a glance before she headed toward her own seat. She had only taken a few steps when she

you? Have you encountered any troubles?"
Cindy turned to look at Mary. The person beside Mary shot Cindy a glance with a blank look on her face.
"Nothing's wrong. Everything's good," Cindy uttered with a forced smile.
Mary responded with a nod. "Do tell me if you're facing any problems."
Cindy nodded before going to her seat. The moment she left, the woman standing beside Mary spoke. "She's the
one, isn't she? She's the one that Mr. Kaufmann takes good care of."
Mary nodded before sighing. "I don't know how they're related to each other, but Mr. Kaufmann is extremely nice to
her."
The other woman paused for a while before asking another question. "Could she be Mr. Kaufmann's relative?"
Mary pressed her lips together and shook her head. "Don't think so. I brought her to meet Mr. Kaufmann the other
day, and she didn't know of him at all. She even seemed rather confused by the situation."
The other woman nodded. "I see. That's pretty interesting," she uttered. She didn't clarify what she meant, but she
immediately turned to Mary after finishing her sentence. "Okay. You can go ahead with your work. It's about time to
start work, and I have a lot of things to do."
Mary nodded with the same bright smile on her face. "You know where to find me if you need anything."
After they parted ways, Mary returned to her office. She had only sat down for a short while when someone
knocked on her door. It was Cindy who walked in. "What is it, Cindy? Is anything the matter?" Mary froze for a
moment before standing up.
Cindy nodded. "My mentor isn't around, so I didn't know who else to go to. I'd like to take half a day off as I have
some matters to tend to, but I didn't know who to inform."
It wasn't a big deal, so Mary agreed immediately. "Do proceed with whatever you need to do. I'll apply for your

Cindy hastily thanked Mary. Mary chuckled as she waved her off. "It's no big deal at all."
After that, Cindy didn't stay around. She walked out of Mary's room before taking the elevator down to the ground
floor. Up until then, Cindy couldn't figure out what was going on, so she decided that the best way was to go over to
Ian's filming set to take a look. She had given calls to Ian's driver and Aurora a while earlier, yet they still didn't pick
up. It had been so long since any one of them contacted her, so she was certain that something must have
happened.
Once Cindy headed out of the office, she bought a cap and put it on before hailing a cab that brought her to Ian's
filming location. It was quite some distance away, so Cindy attempted to call the three people once more while she
was in the car. Their phones weren't switched off because there were times when the call got through.
I hate this whole situation, she thought. It really makes me feel so uneasy. Once the car arrived at the filming set,
Cindy paid for the fare before pulling her cap down and walking toward Ian's filming site.
They had been filming in the same area recently, but Ian did mention that they were planning to change sets soon.
Since he didn't tell her when that was happening, she assumed that the filming location remained at the same spot.
