Chapter 2157 Where Has the Time Gone?
Aurora knew he was right. Still, she thought it was a waste. "Not everyone would suddenly pull out when their
career is going well like you."
I'm not them, though. Ian would never live his life in the shadow of anyone else. He wanted to be himself. After
breakfast, he returned to the bedroom to check on Cindy. She was still fast asleep, so he looked at her for a
moment before he closed the door and left.
The driver was waiting for him, and he was surprised to see Ian alone. He looked past Ian's shoulder. "Cindy's not
sending you off? Did she look particularly uninterested when you came home?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIan didn't answer. He knew it was just a tease, so he opened the door and got into the car. "Does your family look
happy when you go home?"
The driver heaved a sigh. "Of course. My daughter even asked me why I couldn't stay home all the time. I'm not
even a celebrity, she said."
Ian cocked his eyebrow and looked at the driver. "What about your wife? Does she complain?"
No. The driver was a little proud of that. "She thinks I'm working my *ss off. They were already halfway through
dinner when I went back last night, but she still whipped something up for me. I think she has it hard, too. She has
to take care of our kid alone, and that's the worst and most tiring job of all."
Ian grunted. "At least you're still human enough to actually empathize with your wife."
"Well, of course." The driver thumped his chest. "I'm a family-oriented guy. Never had my wife suffer whenever I
was with her." He then sighed. "But I can't give her a better life, so all I can do is make more money to support my
family." He drove ahead. "If I can get rich overnight, I'll quit my job and stay at home with them to make up for the
lost time."
Reminded of something, the driver chortled. "Before working under you, I worked as a driver too. I couldn't go
home too much even back then. Sometimes, I had to stay out for two weeks or so, yet I didn't even make as much
money as I do now. My girl didn't even recognize me. I remember when I went back once, she was standing right
outside our house, but she clearly didn't know who I was. She even called me mister." He sighed heavily. "You have
no idea how bad it hurt me."
Ian couldn't, but he could imagine the scene, so he said, "You have it rough, too."
A moment of silence later, the driver said, "I have it a lot better now. At least I'm making more money, so I can

Ian kept quiet. He hadn't been spending much time with Cindy, either. Back when they were working together, they
at least had more time with each other. He didn't spend a lot of time in shoots, so he had a lot of time being
together with Cindy at home. However, he had been in a lot of shoots lately and couldn't go home as much, so he
felt a little guilty.
Soon, they came to the set. It was still early, so Ian went to his waiting room to check out the script for his scenes
for the day.
A while later, Valerie came in. She looked different than before. To be precise, she looked happy. Valerie wasn't that
old, but she had been in this industry for a long time, so everyone started referring to her with reverence. It made
her feel so old.
