Chapter 192 Before Estrella could even utter a word, the clerk, obviously impatient, snapped, “Don’t you know about these stuff? Get your divorce finalized before you cback here.” With that, they briskly summoned the next person, “Next.” Gripping the documents that had been dismissively returned to her, Estrella could feel her temperature rising.
Three years, and Jason still hadn't sorted it out? He hadn't mentioned a thing when she bumped into him yesterday. He didn’t say anything about the paperwork being incomplete.
Clutching the papers, Estrella stormed out of the city hall, fuming over Jason’s apparent lax approach to handling their divorce. So, she hopped into her car and drove straight to Nelson International.
Jason had just returned to the office from a meeting when he noticed a sleek white BMW parked outside the company entrance. Although he couldn’t see who was inside, his curiosity was instantly piqued..
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtDrew, trailing behind Jason, frowned at the sight of the BMW blocking the entrance. Then, his eyes widened in recognition, “Mr. Jason, looks like that’s Ms. Estrella’s ride.” Estrella had only just returned to town, but after Jason had mentioned her that morning, Drew had made a point of digging up everything he could about her - where she lived, what she drove, and what she was up to all crystal clear.
Jason nodded, “You head up, Drew. Take the lead on the next meeting.” “Sure thing, Mr. Jason,” Drew replied, before heading inside.
In the car, Estrella was about to hand over her keys to the valet when someone sharply on her window. She turned to see Jason, bending down to peer in. She rolled down the window without a word.
“You here for me?” Jason inquired.
“Get in. We need to talk,” Estrella said tersely, Taking her cue, Jason circled the car, slid into the passenger seat, and Estrella drove off, pulling up along the curb just outside the company.
It was somewhat surprising yet expected for Estrella to seek him out. Once parked, she turned to Jason, “You haven't filed the paperwork yet?” She hadn't planned on confronting Jason, and dredging up the past was the last thing she wanted. However, his failure to finalize their divorce was complicating both her career and their son Isaac’s documents.
1/3 08:36 Chapter 192 Jason responded with unnerving calm, “Haven't had the time.” Estrella couldn't help but laugh bitterly, “No time?” It had been three years since she left, and before she departed, she had already arranged for someone at the town hall. As long as Jason signed the documents, they wouldn't even need to be there in person. Was he really so busy that he couldn’t spare a moment to sign his nin three years? Half amused, half infuriated, Estrella challenged him, “Do you really think I'm that naive, Jason? And for such an opportunity staring you in the face would you not drop everything to get it done?” But Jason didn’t like her insinuation. His temper flared, “Since when is divorce something to celebrate?” He had made it clear three years ago - she should forget about it.
Estrella, frustrated and not wanting to rake up old grievances - after all, it had been three years - took a deep breath to calm herself. “Let's cut the banter. Just get it done this afternoon, okay?” She had promised Autumn she would stay, so saac’s documents had to be in order. Otherwise, it would be inconvenient if something cup.
Jason, fishing out a cigarette and lighter from his pocket, lit up and exhaled a perfect smoke ring. “Estrella, like | said before, forget about it.
Her insistence on the paperwork irked Jason, though not as much as three years prior. After all, he wasn’t entirely blameless for her departure. The more she pushed for the divorce, the more he resisted. They had been apart for three years, but the thought of splitting up for good hadn't crossed his mind. They had known each other for too long, and he believed there was nothing they couldn't talk through or resolve.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBut Estrella’s patience was waning. She shot back, “Fine. But I'm taking this to cour it's a sure thing.” After all, they had been separated for over two years, and she was lawyer, having built her career on divorce cases.
She had stayed away for an extra year, just in case the court didn’t count the tJaso had looked for her, ensuring their tapart exceeded the two-year mark.
Jason's displeasure was evident as he crushed his cigarette beneath his shoe and challenged her, “Go ahead and sue. But let's see who dares to take your case, and grant you that divorce.” Estrella’s face turned cold. Three years had passed, but Jason was still the s domineering figure, so arrogantly sure of himself. Biting back her anger, she said through clenched teeth, “Get out.” She couldn't continue this conversation, fearing her next words might ignite her fury. If he wouldn't cooperate with the paperwork, she would find another way.
2/3 08:36 Chapter 192 Jason's demeanor softened. He tried to reason with her, “Estrella, you just got back, and you're already stirring up divorce talk. Are you so eager to signoff, and never seeagain?” She had avoided him in the days following her departure from Ravenwood, and Jason had sought her out - to no avail.
His gentle approach eased her anger, as she knew Jason was more susceptible to a softer touch. Calmly, she explained, “I've got a lot to take care of since getting back. Without your signature, my documents aren't complete.” Jason offered, “You need my paperwork? Just tellwhat you need, or if you needin person, that’s fine too.” Estrella turned to him, her irritation mixed with disdain, “You don’t have tto sign a paper, but you have tfor this?” Before Jason could respond, Estrella pressed on, “Just get it done, Jason. It'll save us both future hassles.” Estrella had a secret she was keeping from Jason. Even if he was willing to cooperate with her to get the paperwork done, there was no way she could let him go through with it. She couldn't risk him finding out about Isaac. It would turn their world upside down, making it impossible to get the divorce she desperately needed.
She couldn't let the cat out of the bag until the divorce was finalized.
Estrella kept nagging him about getting the paperwork done, Jason, who had just managed to get his emotions under control, felt a dark cloud looming over him again. He confronted her, “Estrella, the moment you are back, you're on my case about the paperwork. Do you have someone else on the side?” Why else would she be in such a rush to untie the knot? Sure, he had made mistakes three years ago, but the fact that Estrella was only re out for the paperwork now was a bitter pill to swallow. He had made his fair share blunders in their marriage, but he had never once brought up the idea of divorce.
