Chapter 161
Ever since Ava and Damien made up, he treated her extremely well. So well, in fact, that he’d spared no detail! Not only did he
send her to and from work every day, but he also knew that she would be unwilling to have lunch with him at work. Hence, he
asked the cooks at home to make iunch and pretended to send it to her through a delivery service. Even the colleagues in the
office were surprised. “Ava, which restaurant do you order from? It looks so delicious! Is it expensive?” Ava felt very
embarrassed. Her colleagues all ate in the company’s canteen. It was unbecoming for her to eat takeout alone.
After eating like this for two days, she decided to go back to the canteen.
At noon, she bought her lunch and sat down in the cafeteria. Before she started to eat, she heard a cry of surprise from the door.
Luella was the kind of person who would easily get excited whenever something happened, so she quickly tiptoed to see what
was happening. Then, she saw the CEO coming in! This was the staff canteen, and the CEO had never been here before! Even
if there was an inspection, he wouldn’t be in the canteen. Under everyone’s surprised gaze, Damien walked to the counter and
got himself some lunch. Then, he walked towards Ava with a plate in his hand. Ava’s heart was pounding like crazy at this point.
Although Damien had mentioned to her yesterday that he wanted to publicly reveal their relationship at work, she rejected him
vehemently! She didn’t want to lose her friends and colleagues at work after her relationship was revealed. He had promised her
last night, so what was he doing now? The canteen was usually very crowded during lunch time. Was he here to announce their
relationship? He was simply out of his mind! Ava panicked. She was so nervous that she wished she could turn invisible. Judging
by the footsteps, he was already behind her... Ava took a deep breath and finally looked up, ready to talk to him. “Damien...”
However, Damien didn’t even stop for a second. He went straight to sit a few tables away from her and started eating.
From the very start, he did not even look at anyone. Due to Damien’s sudden arrival, the noisy canteen suddenly became silent.

“Hey, Ava, what’s going on?” Luella discreetly pulled at Ava’s sleeve.
“How would i know?” Ava replied.
“Why are you...” Luella was about to say something, but then she held back.
There were four colleagues sitting opposite them, so they should definitely not talk about it here.
Ava had gone to Damien when Luella was dismissed and she told him about what had happened with Mr. Hemsworth and
Damien was able to catch him in time. Because of this, Luella had been pestering Ava recently to explain to her what was going
on between her and Damien. Fortunately, although Luella liked gossiping, she kept her mouth shut when it came to this issue.
Despite knowing such a huge secret, she never said a word to anyone else. Ava took out her mobile phone and sent a message
to Damien. “What are you doing?”
When he saw the phone vibrate, he took a look at it and immediately replied, “You’d rather eat the food in the cafeteria than the
food prepared at home. I want to try how delicious it is.”
Gosh, he must be bored out of his mind!

A minute later, Damien sent another message, “The taste is kind of meh.” Ava secretly looked up at him and found that he was
frowning at the plate as if the food was difficult for him to swallow.
Hence, she could not help laughing. “Why are you so happy? You’ve been beaming for the past two days.” Her colleague asked.
Ava quickly waved her hand. “Uh... it’s nothing.” Her colleagues were curious, and they immediately asked, “Hey, Ava, are you in
love?”
“What are you talking about? How could that be? Hahaha...” Ava shook her head and denied it in a hurry. Her colleague
encouraged her and said, “It’s not easy for a single mother like you to find a boyfriend. You have to be make sure you hold on to
him!” Because the cafeteria was kind of quiet, people seated at the neighboring tables all heard what Ava’s colleague said. Plus,
Damien seemed to have heard it as well. His body remained stiff and rigid like a statue. The next day when Ava and the others

went to the canteen for lunch, they found that they could get more dishes for the same price.
“I heard that the CEO has raised the budget for the employee meals. He stipulated that no less than
four dishes and one kind of soup were allowed in the future!”
Ava listened to her colleagues’ muttering and she couldn’t help but find it funny.
When she went home last night, she spoke to him about the food. Damien threatened that if she didn’t eat with him, he would
never let the canteen season the food ever again!
Nevertheless, she said that she would rather eat bread than eat with him. Still, he improved all of their lunches nonetheless.
Honestly, the food that day was really good.
After lunch, she walked from the canteen to the office building. At the entrance of the elevator, she ran into Selden. “Selden?
What are you doing here?” She was very surprised.
“Didn’t Damien tell you? I’m in charge of the project that Mr. Hemsworth used to handle now.” Damien certainly did not tell her
about this. “It seems that we will meet each other often in the future.”
“Oh, what a coincidence.”
At this time, Selden had already taken a step toward her. “You haven’t finished your lunch break yet, have you? Would you like to
have a cup of coffee with me?” Selden did not give her the chance to refuse at all. Then, he smiled slyly and said, “I’ve asked
around. You’re off until 1:30 in the afternoon. It’s only 12:30 now, so it’s still early.” “... Okay.” Ava had no choice but to agree.
There were few people in the cafe downstairs, and they chose a table near the window to sit down. The sunlight warmly shone
on her hair, and Selden stared at her in a daze. “You probably don’t remember, but when I first saw you, you were sitting by the
window in the classroom with your hair down while focused on reading a book.” “When did we meet for the first time?” “It was a
long... long time ago.”

but what about you and Damien’s past? Don’t you want to know about it?” “Is the past that important? I don’t have the memories

me.” Ava remained silent. To her, the past was the past and it wasn’t important. She had already lost all her memories, so what
could she possibly do about it? Thus, Ava avoided Selden’s gaze and drank her coffee. The coffee was bitter and hot. She took a
small sip and slowly swallowed it. The bitter taste slid down her throat, but there was a surprisingly sweet after-taste..
