Chapter 811 "She's my apprentice, don't you know?" Just then, Sylvia walked over Adrienne and came to Jenna. Ashlyn and Adrienne both looked at Sylvia.
The first thing that caught their eyes was a purple long dress with a thin veil at the hemline. The exquisite lace highlighted her fair legs, which were faintly visible under the veil. The design of the waistline perfectly outlined her curvy figure.
She had a bun of green hair, elegant and graceful with natural strands falling over her ears. A small diamond earring could be vaguely seen on her fair pink left earlobe. The light flickered on and off, but she always wore an indifferent look on her face.
Her cold gaze fell directly on Adrienne's body like an icy queen standing high above them all.
Why would Sylvia appear here when she was supposed to be last? Adrienne looked flustered.
"I... I was just joking." "You humiliated my apprentice; now you don't have to sit here anymore," said Sylvia coldly as if looking down upon everyone else like a queen.
Adrienne felt embarrassed as if someone had slapped her in the face hard. She bit her lip without any confidence in retorting.
"I'm second place; you can't decide whether | stay or go." "What if I'm the sponsor for Graley Piano Competition?" Sylvia sneered lightly before casting a glance at Ashlyn who remained silent like a statue beside them all along.
"I'm just kidding too." Adrienne was scared out of wits by now with cold sweat oozing out of every pore in fear that she might lose everything without this shining moment of glory.
"Can people really sleep soundly after doing something bad?" asked Sylvia sharply once again.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Are you talking about me? Let me tell you | didn't do anything,” said Ashlyn impatiently under such unbearable scrutiny from Sylvia who seemed determined to make everyone feel uncomfortable around her presence.
"Did | mention your name? Why are jumping into conclusions so fast? It seems Miss Ritter is very guilty!" laughed Sylvia mockingly with sarcasm.
Jenna felt warm inside, as she was being protected by Sylvia. She couldn't help but think of her own sister... she did have a biological sister when she was younger. But since Aldo had taken her in, Jenna didn't know what happened to her sister. Was she still living in their old village? Jenna suddenly wanted to go find her.
"What was my sister's name?" Jenna tried hard to remember, but all she could recall was what she looked like, not her name.
Her head began to ache and throb painfully.
Thankfully, Jenna had put on heavy makeup today. Otherwise people would've noticed how pale and sickly-looking she appeared.
Sylvia was a performer, so naturally she sat in the front row of the audience. After she sat down, Franklin strolled over towards her.
Upon seeing him sit down next to Sylvia with a faint smile on his face, Sylvia asked "Mr. Maskelyne, how does it feel walking down the red carpet as our final act?" "Interesting," replied Franklin gazing deeply into Sylvia's eyes. "The Maskelyne Group is one of Graley Piano Competition's biggest sponsors after all; I'm also one of award presenters so everything seems fitting." Sylvia beamed radiantly at him. "You're always right no matter what you say." The organizer originally planned for her to be the finale, but she recommended Franklin instead.
Those female celebrities were already a bit jealous of her position in the music industry. If she stole their limelight and headlines, then all the attention would be on her and they would be too envious.
Besides, her new movie "The Beggarly Girl Is A Noble Lady" is about to wrap up filming soon. After that comes promotion and theater screenings. She doesn't want any mistakes at this critical moment.
The seats in the audience are arranged according to social status - whoever is more famous or has a higher status sits in front.
Sylvia and Franklin naturally sat in the first row.
When Fashion Mogul saw Sylvia, he walked over quickly with big strides. At his age, he didn't care about walking on red carpets anymore so he went straight into the venue without doing so.
After chatting with some old friends inside, he saw Sylvia come in as well and immediately rushed over towards her for a big hug.
However, a long and strong arm stopped him.
He looked stunned at Franklin - an extraordinarily handsome man who had just walked down the red carpet earlier - whose identity was said not to be ordinary either. He heard Franklin's clear voice say: "Sorry, this is my wife." "Oh! Sylvia! Long time no see!" Fashion Mogul shook hands with Franklin while speaking before turning back towards Sylvia again: "Your husband really loves you so much." Sylvia politely smiled back at him wondering why everyone seemed jealous of their relationship? She shrugged: "Can't help it; my husband is the jealous type." Fashion Mogul let go of Franklin's hand before laughing loudly again while looking up-and-down at him. "You're very handsome; you match X perfectly!" After exchanging pleasantries for a few more minutes, Louis came over saying: "Old man, move aside! Don't block my disciple!" Fashion Mogul felt wronged and unhappy asking, "I haven't seen X for such a long time; what's wrong with me sitting next to her?" "Her left seat belongs to her husband; and I will sit on her right side.” Louis replied arrogantly.
Fashion Mogul refused to budge from his seat. "Hehe, let's play rock-paper-scissors! Best of three wins, and the winner gets to keep this spot." "This seat has my name on it!" Louis was exasperated with the old man. But for fairness’ sake, he still extended his hand to play rock-paper-scissors with Fashion Mogul.
"I won! You should sit in my spot now," Fashion Mogul laughed heartily.
His seat was right next to Louis".
Actually, it wasn't far from Sylvia either.
"Fine, take it," Louis grumbled a little.
Sylvia had a headache; these two were acting like children.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmGracie and Lena also switched seats with others and sat next to Jenna.
"My father really likes Miss Andrews!" Gracie exclaimed excitedly.
"Yes," Jenna replied politely.
After everyone chatted for a while inside the venue, the Graley Piano Competition came to an end and the award ceremony began officially.
Two elegant hosts walked onto the stage after delivering their opening remarks.
First up was a girl group who performed some lively songs and dances as an opening act.
Then they presented awards starting with Best New Artist in Global Music Industry which went to a young European-American girl who got very emotional when she received her award and gave her acceptance speech on stage.
Next were several other new artist awards until all of them had been given out before moving on professional field awards category where Jenna's piano competition championship prize was first up followed by second place winner then third place winner receiving their prizes together onstage at once.
Ashlyn watched as Jenna walked ahead of her towards centerstage where she would receive her trophy for winning first place in front of everyone. Ashlyn's eyes betrayed malice.
The presenters handing over trophies turned out be none other than Sylvia, Guzman, Louis, all three being renowned pianists within the industry.
Brayden took a short video and sent it to Mrs. Wright and Cody.
Mrs. Wright replied directly, "I'm watching the live stream, | can see everything clearly." Brayden couldn't help but laugh.
After the piano awards were presented, it was time for the violin awards, as well as other instruments such as saxophone and harp... all of which had to be awarded.
During this time, Franklin also served as a presenter.
Returning to her seat, the man raised an eyebrow. "Why did you go on stage without changing your dress?" Sylvia smiled. "I didn’t want to be too flashy."
