Chapter 942 Michaelis decided to humiliate the SouthStar Airlines competitors, and his smug expression was evident. "Oh well, a sick person is just a sick person," he said. "Can't even throw 20 meters." "It's true," someone else chimed in. "Why bother competing in this rain? Might as well go home." But no one paid him any attention.
Soon it was Brogan's turn, the last athlete to throw the shot put.
Almost all of H Rovirsa's audience silently cheered for Brogan.
Michaelis's arrogant face was clear for everyone to see.
Evie whispered worriedly to Sylvia, "Boss, do you think he can do it?" Sylvia smiled. "I believe in him." Or rather, she believed in Franklin! She believed in his ability to train his subordinates! Brogan walked over and picked up the five-kilogram shot put with one hand. He then stood one meter away from the throwing line and pushed the ball back before suddenly accelerating into a run! With a loud shout, he threw the shot put out with perfect form! The heavy ball hit the ground and splashed water everywhere before landing on snearby grass leaves... and it seemed like it went further than Michaelis's earlier attempt?! At that moment Michaelis felt Brogan's strong explosive power because he knew that kind of power could only result in an impressive distance thrown! Just then an official shouted loudly. "21. 9 meters!" Everyone erupted into cheers at hearing this number.
Michaelis couldn't believe what had happened; his expression froze on his face as he glared hatefully at Brogan. "You got lucky this time! You might not be so lucky next time!" Brogan wasn't proud or boastful; nor did he care about Michaelis's taunts or threats. "Thank you for your concession." Michaelis comforted himself by thinking there were other events where they could still score points - as long as their total score beat SouthStar Airlines', they would win for sure! The rain poured down heavily making their clothes stick uncomfortably onto their bodies.
However, what followed wasn't just another simple brute force event like throwing shot puts but instead involved carrying twenty kilograms while running eight hundred meters.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWhoever ran faster would be declared winner.
Carrying twenty kilograms of weight is not a small feat. They trained for this event to improve their leg strength, endurance, and explosiveness. Normally, it wouldn't be a problem, but in this rainy weather with such heavy rain, the water soaked into their backpacks added an invisible weight.
This made the running competition even more challenging.
The athletes quickly took their positions and lifted the heavy backpacks onto their backs. With gritted teeth and veins bulging on their foreheads, they crouched down at the starting line. As soon as the referee fired his gun, they shot out like arrows from a bowstring.
Eight hundred meters didn't sound like much distance to cover but carrying twenty kilograms made it much harder than expected - especially in such heavy rain that stung when hitting their faces.
The wind resistance also slowed them down despite putting all of their effort into running faster.
"You're all useless! With your quality level so low why bother participating in this competition?" Michaelis sneered at them. "You might as well go hearly instead of embarrassing yourselves here." He was muscular with long legs - typical traits for Evodroupolians or Aettosans who were naturally bigger built and ran faster than others even while carrying twenty kilograms of weight on his back; he remained among those leading runners throughout the race. One SouthStar Airlines pilot shouted back loudly. "I'm not useless!" He charged forward with full force inspiring others to follow suit. Sweat mixed with rainwater rolled off everyone's faces continuously while above them dark clouds loomed lower by each passing moment.
"Guys, it's just 800 meters," he roared.
And with that, he kicked his long legs into gear and started to pick up speed.
One! Two! Finally, he passed many of the other runners! The finish line was just ahead of him! And his biggest competitor, Michaelis, was almost there too.
But then suddenly, Brogan leaped forward and landed heavily on the finish line. He splashed water everywhere as he did so. Michaelis followed right behind him - they were only separated by a second! The stadium fell silent as everyone watched in shock.
It wasn't until the referee announced that Brogan had won the 800-meter weighted run that everyone snapped out of their daze and erupted into applause.
"Wow!" "That was amazing!" "How did he do it?" Brian sat in the judge's seat with an ugly expression on his face as he stared at the screen showing what had happened.
"I protest!" He said coldly. "Brogan didn't cross the finish line by running - he jumped over it! That's against the rules." But all the referee did was give him a cool glance. "I'm sorry Brian," she said. "Even though you're a judge here, you don't seem to understand that whoever crosses first wins." Michaelis felt like someone had punched him in gut when she heard this news.
"You're shameless!" He glared at Brogan furiously. "You have no sportsmanship whatsoever!" "What you did is cheating." His teammates joined in on cursing at Brogan too.
But then Brogan stood up from where he'd fallen onto ground earlier - soaked through from head to toe with wet hair sticking to his forehead and chuckled softly. "Losers always make excuses for their failures and are full of energy when they curse their opponents." His words were like slaps across heir faces; painful reminders of how sorely they'd lost this race... and hov nuch more sorely they would Entinue losing if they kept acting ke this towards each other instead of focusing on improving hemselves individually or working ogether as team members should ›e doing. >wThis made Michaelis even angrier than before; so angry that it felt like every muscle in her body tensed up until she looked like an enraged gorilla ready to pounce.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Don't get too cocky," Michaelis growled out through gritted teeth while clenching fists tightly enough for knuckles turn white under pressure. "We'll win next time." Brogan simply smiled back nonchalantly. "We'll see about that." As all athletes headed back inside locker rooms after changing into fresh clothes and taking showers plus replenishing energy levels via various supplements provided by staff members there waiting outside doorways leading them back onto field again for next event which happened be rock climbing challenge...
All the contestants gathered in front ›f a wall that was different from the >thers surrounding it. It was covere knobby protrusions and curved ipwards at the top-Was this thal igh difficulty climbing wall? Climbing required arm strength, inger dexterity, body coordination, and judgment - it demanded exceptional physical fitness.
Moreover, this particular wall was louble-sided rather than ingle-sided like normal walls, which idded to the difficulty of the competition. :wOnce everyone had secured their safety ropes and received the referee's signal, they began to climb up onto the wall. The initial difficulty level wasn't too high but as they climbed higher, it becincreasingly challenging with far distances between each handhold.
Although everyone had brought magnesium powder bags with them for grip enhancement purposes, heavy rain quickly washed away most of it making them more prone to slipping and falling - increasing danger while also adding to climbing difficulty.
At this point in time, Brogan had made his way up to midway on the rock face. His companion Michaelis kept pace with him almost neck-and-neck; her long legs and tall stature resembling that of a monkey as he scrambled after him.
Soon enough, both reached what appeared to be one of toughest parts on this climbing route. A U-shaped bend where foot power no longer mattered much except for balance support while relying mostly on arm strength and finger grip power instead.
Just when Brogan saw an opportunity at one handhold point below him where he could jump outwards for better leverage footing; suddenly Michaelis's foot collided with his own causing his shoe sole slip off abruptly resulting in his body plummeting downwards towards ground level! The spectators watching were all shocked by what they saw happen before their eyes; none could believe what just occurred! After all such an incident posed great danger! Brogan himself was surprised but reacted quickly by lifting his hand upwards grabbing hold tightly onto rock surface while simultaneously inserting one finger into another nearby hold! He didn't blanyone nor did he harbor any resentment towards Michaelis who displayed a hint of smugness upon seeing how lucky he'd been not having fallen completely off yet! He quickly climbed up while Brogan was away on a business trip. As he was about to climb over the rock wall and reach the other side, he couldn't help but turn around and take a look at Brogan. But as soon as he looked, his mouth dropped open in surprise! Brogan had been about two meters behind him, but suddenly it was like he had turned into a martial arts master and shot up like lightning.
His speed was so fast that it looked like something out of a TV show with legendary martial arts masters! Michaelis's head spun from watching this. What... what is this? This guy's arm strength is amazing, and his movements are so fast! In the moment that Michaelis stood there stunned, Brogan actually passed him! Michaelis snapped back to reality and hurriedly climbed down.
He had to climb faster or else Brogan would win.
But... the rock wall was at least seven or eight meters high.
Brogan moved like a martial arts master, hooking onto those hooks with lightning-fast reflexes without even looking down at his feet before leaping down.
His speed was simply astonishing!
