#114 “Falling for His Games, Again?”
In the moonlit garden, Sophia leaned against the cool marble railing, a sigh escaping her lips. The night was serene, but the
turmoil within her refused to mirror the tranquility of the surroundings.
“Sophia, what are you doing? Falling for his games, again?” she muttered to herself, frustration lacing her voice. ” He’s playing
the part, acting like he doesn’t care, and I’m letting it get under my skin. It’s infuriating!”
A gentle breeze rustled the leaves as if nature itself was whispering words of solace. Sophia took a deep breath, trying to steady
the storm of emotions raging within.
“Why do I let him affect me like this?” she continued a hint of self-reproach in her tone. “He flirts with Megan, and I should just roll
my eyes and move on. But no, here I am, tangled up in this emotional mess.”
Sophia’s gaze drifted toward the distant glow of the villa. Laughter echoed faintly, a stark contrast to the internal conflict that
threatened to consume her.
“He’s stubborn, deliberately testing my patience,” she reflected, a wry smile tugging at the corners of her lips. “But what’s his
game? Why act like he doesn’t care and then subtly change his tune?”
Sophia snarled in her anger and punches the metal fence. She is always in control of her emotions, but when she gets close to
Alexander, she simply cannot recognize herself.
“Whatever his game is, I can’t let it cloud my judgment,” she affirmed, a newfound determination in her voice. ” I won’t be a pawn
in his emotional chessboard. If he thinks he can toy with my feelings, he’s got another thing coming.”
Sophia straightened, a sense of resolve settling over her. As she made her way back to the villa, the echoes of laughter and
conversation grew louder. The emotional tug-of-war continued, but Sophia, armed with newfound clarity, was prepared to
As soon as she entered, Alexander’s gaze slided over her. She tried to look away, but she couldn’t. The scene from a while ago
played out before her eyes, his closeness, the way he looked at her.
Sophia lowered her eyes and tried to hide the blush that had crept up her cheeks. She quickly came to her senses and sat down
on the sofa near them. But she couldn’t look up at him without blushing anew. Sophia felt like all control was slipping away and it
both angered and terrified her.
Megan didn’t miss their exchange of glances. The laughter she shared with Alexander a minute ago died down. She shot
glances between Alexander and Sophia, her curiosity reaching its boiling point as her jealousy.
“What’s going on here?” Megan’s voice cut through the tension, her eyes narrowing with suspicion.
Alexander, sensing the impending storm, stepped in to diffuse the situation. “Megan, relax. Sophia and I were just catching up.
We were waiting for you. You know you can trust me, especially now that we’re about to get married.”
Megan’s skeptical gaze remained fixed on Alexander, but he continued his attempt to reassure her. “There’s no need for doubts,
Megan. We’re building a life together, and I want you to believe in us.”
Megan, though still suspicious, seemed to buy into Alexander’s explanation. ” Well, alright. Sorry for assuming the worst.”
Alexander, adopting the role of the devoted fiancé, leaned in towards Megan, his tone dipped in warmth. ” Megan, you mean a
lot to me. There’s no room for doubt in our relationship. You’re the one I’ve been waiting for, and I want our journey together to
be built on trust and transparency.”
Megan’s expression softened as she absorbed Alexander’s words. The tension that had gripped the room seemed to dissipate,
replaced by an air of reassurance. She reached for Alexander’s hand, a small smile playing on her lips.
“Alexander, I want to believe in us, in our future together,” Megan admitted, her skepticism giving way to a glimmer of hope.
Alexander, maintaining the façade of unwavering commitment, pressed a gentle kiss to Megan’s forehead.
knowing that less than 10 minutes ago he would have kissed her.
“I think I’ve overstayed my welcome,” Sophia interjected, her attempt to lighten the mood falling flat.
Alexander, ever the gentleman, offered a solution. “I’ll have the driver take you home, Sophia.”
As the car sped through the city, Sophia couldn’t shake off the unease that clung to her.
“He’s getting married,” she muttered under her breath. “And has the audacity to lie to his future wife with me. I won’t allow it.”
Once Sophia made her exit, Alexander delicately disentangled himself from Megan’s embrace. With an air of apparent concern,
he shifted the conversation, proposing a collaboration that would intertwine their professional worlds.
“You know, Megan,” Alexander began, his expression portraying a thoughtful concern, “I’ve been thinking about our businesses.
What if we bring our companies closer together? I could have some of my top people join your company’s management team.
It’s not just good for us but also for the synergy of our endeavors.”
Megan, intrigued by the proposal, leaned back and considered the idea. ” You think that would work? Having your team in my
company?”
Alexander nodded, his eyes locked onto Megan’s. “Absolutely. It’s a win-win. We pool our resources, share expertise, and create
a powerhouse that dominates the market. Plus, it’ll bring us even closer, not just personally but professionally too.”
Megan, swayed by the allure of success and perhaps a desire to deepen her connection with Alexander, found herself nodding in
agreement. “You know what, Alexander? That sounds like a fantastic idea. Let’s do it. I’m all in.”
Megan, happy but still a little skeptical, decided to ask Alexander.
“Alexander, I didn’t expect you to be this involved in my company affairs,” Megan questioned, her eyes scrutinizing Alexander’s
expression.
Alexander leaned in slightly, adopting a confiding tone. “No catch, Megan. Just imagine the impact we could have together. A
power couple both in our personal lives and in the business world. This move will not only elevate our professional standings but
strengthen our personal connection too.”
Megan, always drawn to the allure of power and success, couldn’t help but smile. And that was exactly what Alexander wanted
her to believe.
