Chapter 1515 Shocking News

Edward considered the question for a moment before he answered hesitantly, "There was

a blind date arranged for me, but the other party was not interested in me."

"Why would they have no interest in you?" Nicholas looked astonished and glanced at

Edward curiously.

Edward scratched his head and replied awkwardly, "When the other party heard that I was

just an assistant, they felt that I had no future prospects. Therefore, they refused the

marriage."

"I bet you probably misinformed them on purpose." Nicholas immediately exposed

Edward’s secret manipulation of the situation.

Edward laughed in embarrassment. "If I told them that I was your assistant, then I won't

be able to see through their true character."

That was true. After all, it was important to marry a person for their good qualities.

Nicholas simply nodded in understanding and continued, "You're not young anymore.

What plans do you have for your future? Should I ask my wife to introduce you to one of

her friends?"

Upon hearing those words, Edward froze in surprise. The main reason was that he never

expected his employer to suddenly pay attention to his personal affairs, much less his

marriage.

Fortunately, he was an intelligent man. It did not take long for him to guess the other

party's true intentions. "Did you hear about the incident between Mona and me?"

"I only learned about it yesterday. I can't believe how well you kept the secret. Tell me

honestly. When did you develop feelings for Mona?" Nicholas couldn't resist teasing his

subordinate.

Feeling extremely awkward and embarrassed, Edward hurriedly explained himself. "It's not

what you're thinking."

"If it's not what I'm thinking, then what's the truth?" Nicholas persistently pressed.

Edward fell silent, not knowing how to answer the question. The scene of that night

flashed through his mind.

That night, he brought Mona to a hotel nearby and helped to book a room for her. He

originally planned to leave after making sure that she was settled in the hotel. Who could

have known that she would suddenly go on a drunken rampage and prevent him from

leaving by grabbing him? In fact, she even managed to bind his hands to the bed when he

was distracted by her antics.

When he recalled that scene, he quickly stopped the flashbacks in his head.

At the same time, Nicholas could sense Edward's embarrassment and did not pursue the

matter further. "If you don't want to talk about the incident, then forget it. How are the

preparations for the wedding going?"

Edward breathed a sigh of relief when his employer changed the subject of conversation.

"The wedding preparations are almost done. In addition, the major families from abroad

will also be sending their representatives for the occasion. I've arranged for them to be

accommodated in the hotels under the company," he reported truthfully.

Nicholas nodded and added a reminder. "I don't want my wife to know about the wedding

in advance. Also, prepare strict security detail to keep an eye on safety issues during the

wedding day. I don't want anything bad to happen on such an important occasion."

"Understood." Edward nodded to indicate his understanding.

Afterward, he reported on various other work-related matters before he left the office to

continue his work.

Tessa glanced at Mona and asked in concern, "Have you thought about what I told you

yesterday?"

"I have. You're right. I should at least inform Edward about my pregnancy."

Mona only agreed because she knew that she had actually forced herself on Edward that

night. Even if she did not want children of her own, it was only reasonable to inform him

about the situation.

Tessa nodded. Seeing that Mona had decided on the matter, she did not pursue the matter

further and turned her concern to Mona's health instead. "How are you feeling today? Do

you still have severe pregnancy symptoms? Do you want to live with me instead?"

"No need for that. I'm fine with the living arrangements here." Mona shook her head and

refused the offer. Then, she jokingly said, "I don't want to visit your home just to see you

and President Sawyer being lovey-dovey with each other."

Tessa burst out laughing and stopped trying to persuade Mona otherwise.

She spent the day with Mona, staying until it was time for her to pick Gregory up from

school in the evening.

Mona was the only person left in the room. Then, she picked up her phone lying beside her

and dialed a number.

"Mr. Jackson, we need to talk."

There was silence on the other side of the phone for some time, then Edward’s cold voice

sounded. "Okay. I was just about to contact you, Miss Winters. I'll pick you up from the

hotel in ten minutes."

It turned out that Edward had realized that something was wrong after his meeting with

Nicholas in the morning. The more he thought about the matter, the more he realized that

something was strange.

Logically speaking, Nicholas was not a nosy person. It was very strange for him to

suddenly pay attention to Edward's private affairs. In other words, there was most likely

something behind the scenes that he did not know about.

Therefore, Edward sent somebody to investigate Mona. But he did not expect to receive

such shocking news from the investigation.
