Orion's eyes widened in horror as he noticed a hand sticking out from his head. Going in from the back of his head, the hand stuck out from where his nose should have been. As his vision went red and he slowly started to lose consciousness, he heard a familiar calm voice, one that he had gotten used to for the past few days. One which sent him into the depths of confusion moments before he died in the [ğ’’ğ’’ğ’«ğ’¬ğ’¨ğ’§ğ’šğ’¥ ğ’ƒğ’¨ğ’¦ğ’šğ’¢ğ’§].
"Even if this is fake, was I not supposed to vomit?"
Asher's voice was the last thing he heard before dropping out from the battle royale.
---------------------
[At the start of the battle-royale]
Asher and his team spawned in amongst a surrounding filled with rocks in such a way that it was perfect for camouflage. As they had previously discussed, they would be actively hunting for other teams rather than camping at a single spot.
Given the rate at which the [ğ’’ğ’’ğ’«ğ’¬ğ’¨ğ’§ğ’šğ’¥ ğ’ƒğ’¨ğ’¦ğ’šğ’¢ğ’§] shrank, they'd have tons of time to slowly make their way towards the middle.
Using his [ğ’ƒğ’¢ğ’¯ğ’¢ğ’§ğ’’ ğ’„ğ’²ğ’’ğ’¬], Asher had already planned to locate as many [ğ’Œğ’šğ’§ğ’š ğ’'ğ’’ğ’’ğ’’ğ’¬] as he could in the surroundings to use them to boost his team. As long as he found out and used enough of them, he could even place in the top 15 teams. Or at least get an excuse to place in the top 15 without drawing too much attention.
While he did want to lay low, he certainly wasn't one to ignore the benefits of ranking high, not to mention his actual rank in the Academy was pretty good thus bringing upon him certain "expectations".
"We'll choose a path that moves out towards the edge of the map but in a diagonal line thus making sure we don't get too far away from the center."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAs long as they moved outwards diagonally, they could cover a huge portion of the Earth Biome and also not be in danger of the map shrinking.
"I agree, this way we'll have a higher chance of encountering other teams."
Mason Clark, the demon spy agreed to my suggestion. His mission was to find out the true identity of the person who had become the Apostle of the [Soverign of Light and Darkness] namely, Alex Silvercrest.
The more he got into combat with different people, the higher chance he would have of completing his mission.
Receiving no other opinions from his teammates, they set off to find some enemies.
.
It had soon been quite some minutes and Asher and his team had yet to encounter anybody. On the other hand, their team had "miraculously" come across 3 [ğ’Œğ’šğ’§ğ’š ğ’'ğ’’ğ’’ğ’’ğ’¬] thus boosting their stats passively by about 5-7% (Author: This may seem less but it's quite good, especially considering how 5 people each were boosted by that amount.)
Just as their team was contemplating on whether to change their strategies or not, they heard some loud noise of spells being used in the distance.
Stealthily, Asher and his team made their way over, only to find 4 people fighting against 2 and one person who had fallen into a pit.
'Isn't that Orion? What's he doing in a pit?'
Crouching down behind a rock, he motioned his team to get closer before whispering out to them.
"I think the rest of that team has been wiped out and only two of them are left. This means that the winning team with full members should be tired after this. The moment they kill the other two and let their guard down, we'll move out to wipe them out."
Asher had planned to ditch his team but he'd do that after killing a few teams first. Once they got to the center, he'd separate from them after using his affinity to make it look like they were being attacked from afar.
"Alright, that sounds good. Asher could take out the guy in the pit first while I'll shoot a spell at their Warrior instead. He seems to be the strongest in their team after all." Ava Lee, the mage in our party proposed.
"That sounds good. Mason could take out the archer whereas Noah will attack the other two."
"Olivia, we're counting on you to disrupt the mental states of the ones Noah will take on as it'll give him an upper hand in the fight."
"Noah, you only have to hold out for a few seconds before I kill Ori- the guy in the pit."
With everyone nodding at Asher's suggestion, they slowly moved out and got into position.
It didn't take long for the two from the losing team to be wiped out. Shortly afterward, the four people from Orion's party pulled him out. After shouting at him for a bit, they started to move out.
Suddenly, Orion started to laugh out weirdly for some reason. This matter especially troubled Asher and his teammates who thought that he was laughing because he might have sensed them approaching and planned out some traps.
'No way, I'm pretty sure we all were hiding quite decently. And he shouldn't have any great detection abilities yet, as he'll get one later on from the System. Maybe one of my teammates accidentally gave out their presence.'
*sigh*
'There's nothing that can be done anyways, let's just get this over with.'
Since they had already been detected, there was no point in hiding anymore. Asher signaled his teammates to move out as he squatted down, concentrating all of his body's strength on his legs.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWith a high speed, he dashed out towards Orion with his hand outstretched, aiming at Orion's face.
Sometimes, the best moment to attack wasn't when your opponent was at their weakest. Rather, it was when they didn't expect an attack at all.
Within two seconds, Asher got to Orion as the former's hand pierced through the back of the latter's, emerging out all the way through from the other end.
"Even if this is fake, was I not supposed to vomit?"
Asher had read enough of those web s and manga in his previous world to know that a guy was supposed to vomit the first time he killed someone.
Even if this was all just happening in a domain, it was 100% realistic. So why didn't he vomit?
Taking it off his mind, he pulled his hand through, noticing confusion on the face of the now-dead Orion.
'Who even gets confused while dying? People could be horrified or in pain but confusion is a new one. Guess the main cast really is quite unique huh?'
Looking around, he found each of his teammates immersed in a fight. The opponent team was quite strong and Ava was getting pushed back by their warrior.
While deciding to help Ava first instead of Noah, he decided to head out when he suddenly felt a weird power try to attack his soul. Glancing across the battlefield, he saw one of the enemies vomit out blood before fainting and dying at the hand of Noah instantly.
'WOW!'
