Chapter 39: We Were Engaged

Merlin sobbed out and said a lot like pouring beans from bamboo tube.

Originally, when Merlin and Richard were dating, they lived in the house owned by Richard. Previously, Lydia and Merlin were taken to the police station. Thanks to Wayne, Jerry was suspended and investigated while Nelly was caught on a false accusation. If their elder hadn’t begged Wayne, they would have been in jail at the moment.

After getting out of jail, Nelly wanted to revenge first. She didn’t dare to revenge Lydia who was under Wayne’s protect. So she started from Merlin.

At that night, she chased Merlin away with several people.

“Lydia, do you know that, when I fought with that bitch, Richard helped her slapwhile saying that I seduced him for the character in the beginning thus he couldn’t help having sex with me. He just chasedaway before Nelly.”

Merlin sobbed over the phone. I comforted her while rushing towards her, fearing that she could kill herself.

When I saw her, her face was swollen and her mouth was bleeding. Her body was back and blue on the body as if she was raped.

Seeing me, she cried out of breath.

I wanted to comfort her but I found it was too late. Only tcould heal the broken heart. Silently, I stayed with her and took her huntil she had enough tears.

“Lydia, it’s fine forto sleep in sofa. I will move out when I find a house.”

I knew her economic condition which was almost sas mine. She grew up in an orphanage, so she had deep feelings for it. After work, she donated extra money to the children in the orphanage.

“Merlin, please feel at ease to stay here, we live together now and can jointly rent a better house in the future.”

At night, Merlin wanted to drink at a bar. I agreed because I found she uncomfortable at home.

There was an old saying that drinking to get rid of thousands of trouble.

We went to the biggest nightclub in the city and was ready to consa lot.

I was a social drinker and I felt dizzy soon. However, Merlin was soberer after drinking more. She called the waiter after a box of beers.

“Do you have male companions? send two handsboys here to drink with us.”

I was shocked and looked at her, “Are you insane, what’s that for?”

Merlin huggedin a slant way, “Dear, men outside are not reliable. But men inside the bar are reliable enough. They will follow your order for money’s sake. What have I got when I cried for Richard? Today, I am going to have a great time. Since I have his credit card, let’s just drink and swipe the card.”

Soon, a womanish man cin to sit beside Merlin, hugging her, “Cin boys. They are just so handsome, pick whom you like to stay with you.”

When the door was open, a group of men in fashion consecutively cin.

I went out to breathe after two hours at the room.

I felt drunk after standing in the cold wind for a while, and I dizzily went back.

In the corridor, I suddenly saw a familiar silhouette.

I giggled to make fun of myself that I had drunk too much thus I could see Wayne here......

The farther I went, the more fear I got. Finally I stopped, hided at the corner, stared at the man nearby.

It had been a week that I hadn’t seen him. When I saw him again, I found that he was still handsome and indifferent. That black suit customized at high price showed his noble and extraordinary quality. He lazily stood there and a woman leaned against him.

Although that woman looked normal, she had elegant quality. She just stood there, staring at Wayne with beautiful eyes.

“Wayne, let’s go home. The boss of Wayne stays so late at the club every time. You have work to do tomorrow, I am afraid that your body can’t bear this.”

Although the music was too noisy in the corridor, I heard clearly the voice from that woman.

Without words, Wayne looked at her indifferently.

“Wayne, you seemed to feel nothing towards me. But we are going to get engaged. You make me uneasy.”

After finishing words, that woman hugged his waist, stood on toes, covered his lips and kissed him.

Wayne showed no refusal, letting her hug him.

After the kiss, that woman said generously, “Wayne, I don’t care if you have other women like Sara. I can turn on a blind eye.”

After pushing her away, Wayne smiled, “Sally, we are about to get engaged, don’t think too much. I broke up with Sara several days ago. It is late, you shall go hfirst.”

Sally Hunter looked at him with joy, “Really, will she haunt you? Wayne, I am afraid that she is good at scheming. I do not want anything happened to makeuneasy before the engagement.”

“As you wish, just go home.”
