Chapter 171
“A sudden business trip.” David said, glancing at Eddie. “He asked me to bring you a wedding gift.”
Eddie handed a black velvet box to Iris.
Iris accepted it graciously and couldn’t resist but to ask David, “What about my brother Jimmy, did you
not prepare anything for him?”
“The pass will be delivered to you later.”
Others might not know the purpose and significance of that pass, but Iris knew too well.

That was a visa to enter and leave Aureliana at will, and there was no limit to the number of re–entries.
There were only a few dozen cardholders worldwide.
According to family rules, when Iris got married, she became part of another family and could no longer
enter and leave her own family as she pleased.
Iris was simply flattered when David promised to deliver the pass to her later.

As she turned to leave, she noticed that Rachel Grey was sitting next to David. She was slightly
stunned, and realization dawned on her.
While the public was unfamiliar with David Jones, she had spent years shadowing Jimmy and knew
him inside out.
This gentleman was notorious for his disinterest in women, yet here he was, sitting next to Rachel
Grey.
“Miss Grey.” Iris‘ lips curved into a perfect smile as she raised her glass in a toast to her. “Thank you for
coming to my wedding.”
Rachel replied politely, “You’re welcome.”
After the banquet, Rachel left with Old Mr. Johnson.
She pondered for a moment and asked, “Grandpa, do you grudges against David Jones?”

Upon hearing this, Old Mr. Johnson replied cautiously, “It’s not really a grudge. We just have a bit of a
history.”
“Then why haven’t you mentioned it before?” Rachel continued to ask, her intuition telling her that her
grandfather must have been hiding something.
Old Mr. Johnson raised his eyes and gave Rachel a deep look, then pursed his lips. “Grandpa is tired,
I’ll rest for a while.”
Rachel, looking at her grandfather’s slightly tired face, obediently responded, “Okay.”
After Old Mr. Johnson closed his eyes, Rachel whipped out her phone and quickly typed away, hoping
to get some valuable information from Lucas.
However, Lucas didn’t respond with anything else except…
“Stay away from this man!”
Rachel looked at the text on the screen and couldn’t help but be filled with curiosity.
The confusion lingered in Rachel’s mind even upon returning to the Johnson family’s mansion.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShe hesitated for a moment in bed before finally dialing David’s number.
“Look who finally decided to call me, you heartless thing.” David’s tone was cold, yet there was
something in the way he spoke that hinted at a hidden tenderness, drawing people in.
Rachel’s heart skipped a beat. She cleared her throat and calmly changed the topic. “Can I ask you a
question?”
“Ask away,” David replied without hesitation.
Rachel lay on the bed, playing with a strand of hair that hung down the side of her face. “What’s your
connection with the Johnson family? Why haven’t you mentioned it to me before?”
After a moment of contemplation, David answered, “Nobody in the Johnson family has mentioned it to
you?”
“No,” replied Rachel, “And it seems like my grandfather doesn’t plan to tell me anything concrete
either.”
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have used being tired as an excuse to avoid her today.
“Since Old Mr. Johnson doesn’t want to tell you, there must be a reason for it,” said David.
Although he was unaware of Old Mr. Johnson’s intentions, he did not plan to be the one rocking the
boat.
