Chapter 171
Olivia’s departure was sudden. Gillian did not notice at all. It wasn’t until the nurse in her grandfather’s
ward came to report that Olivia had not come for the entire day that she suddenly realized it.
Why did Olivia suddenly leave?
Gillian raised her eyebrows slightly and suddenly had a bad feeling.
Because she had too many things to worry about these days, and because of the banquet that was
going to be held when she took over the Smith family in ten more days, her heart had been tense,
afraid that something would happen!
Hence, Gillian had asked people to keep an eye on Olivia. However, she did not expect that there
would still be a mistake.
Frowning, she called Jim Lucas, who was keeping an eye on Olivia.
Beep, beep, beep… Beep, beep, beep…
It had been ten minutes, but no one answered the phone.
Gillian frowned even more. The office was clearly as quiet as the night, but she was so frustrated that
she could not calm down for a long time.
“What a useless man!” Jim couldn’t even keep an eye on Olivia.
Gillian hung up and called the person in charge of the detective agency. The person in charge replied
very quickly. He said that he would send someone to the hotel to see what was going on with Jim.
After a while, Jim called.
There was something wrong with his voice. It was hoarse. “I’m sorry, Ms. Smith… “Jim rubbed her
temples. His head hurt terribly. “Mr. Andrew of the Sullivan family left the hotel and returned to Evervale
at noon.”
“What about Olivia?” Gillian sat up straight.
Jim shook his head and apologetically said, “I’m sorry, Ms. Smith. I fell asleep and don’t know where
Olivia is. I just asked the hotel. Olivia has checked out. Only Blake is still here.”
“Check out?” Gillian was anxious. “Where did she go?”
Gillian did not take over the Smith family completely and announced it to the public, which made Gillian
uneasy. Gillian was always afraid her grandfather would have a trump card for Olivia to catch her off
guard.

“Ms. Smith, you can rest assured.” Jim sounded professional. “We’ll investigate Olivia’s whereabouts
now. We have the means to find out the transportation method she took through her identity card
number. We can find out whether she travels by plane, train, car, or self–driving.”
“Okay,” Gillian nodded. “Then hurry up.”
After hanging up the phone, Gillian leaned forward and rested her arms. on the desk. Her fingertips
tapped on the phone screen, looking like she was in deep thought.
Where on earth did Olivia go?
Would Olivia use their past friendship to seek help from those big shots?
Olivia shouldn’t do so!
Gillian shook her head and denied it as soon as she thought of it.
In the past, those big shots were willing to pay attention to Olivia because of her grandfather. Now that
she was here herself, they would definitely not help her if she did not have enough weight.
Gillian felt a little more relaxed at the thought of it.
Half an hour later, Jim called. “Ms. Smith, I’ve checked. Olivia should still be in Layfield. She didn’t go
anywhere but hid.”
“Olivia didn’t go anywhere?” Gillian was surprised.
Jim nodded affirmatively. “I checked her ID number. She didn’t take transportation, even a taxi or bus.”
“Okay. I got it.” Gillian hung up and sneered.

Olivia was hiding and sneaking around, which was all she could do.
After knowing that Olivia had deliberately avoided her, Gillian’s contempt for Olivia increased. Gillian
felt that there was no need for her to put too much effort into Olivia. Olivia was only relying on her
grandfather’s love.
Now that Olivia had lost her grandfather, she was nothing. She only knew how to hide and did not even
dare to show her face openly.
How petty Olivia was!
At the same time, in a low–profile car with a special license plate.
Olivia sat in the back seat with a laptop on her knees. The screen was filled with dizzying codes.
There was no plot that appeared in the movie. Her fingers tapped on the

keyboard. The screen seemed to be flashing as it quickly changed as if it had special effects.
Olivia’s posture was even a little lazy. She leaned sideways and supported her chin with her left hand.
She used her right index finger to type on the keyboard every few seconds.
She slowly used one of her fingers to type like an aged person learning to use a computer.
The Man in the passenger seat seemed to have received some news. He looked back at Olivia as if he
had something to say, but he did not want to disturb her thoughts. As he was hesitating, Olivia looked
up.
Her clear gaze slowly landed on his face with a hint of casualness.
The man’s back tensed up. He immediately said with a stern tone, “Miss Taylor, someone is
investigating you. Do you want to…”
“Let her be.” Olivia cut him off in an indifferent voice.

The man frowned and was about to persuade Olivia, but Olivia lowered her head and looked at the
computer again.
He swallowed the words that were about to come out of his mouth. When they arrived at their
destination, Olivia followed the person who came out to pick her up into the secret base.
The man followed closely behind Olivia. When they reached the door, he subconsciously wanted to
follow her in, but he was suddenly pulled to the side by a hand.
It was Tyson Burton, the driver!
“What are you doing?” The man frowned.
Tyson pulled the man to a corner and handed him a cigarette. “Come on, have a cigarette.”
The man took the cigarette from Tyson’s mouth and reprimanded, “Why are you smoking? Have you
forgotten your identity?”
“You forgot yours, didn’t you?” Tyson smiled faintly.
The man held his breath. His lean body instantly accumulated strength, as if he was about to explode

Tyson ignored him. He took out a cigarette and bit it in his mouth. His expression did not change as he
said, “The higher–ups sent us to protect Miss Taylor. Miss Taylor’s will is the priority. You overstepped
your boundaries in the car just then!”

The man fell silent.
Tyson patted the man’s shoulder and said, “Let’s go and find a place to eat. Miss Taylor is protected by
the base when we are here. We can relax for the time being.”
The man suddenly smiled and said, “Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it.”
In the base, Olivia was surrounded by a group of senior men and women. It was as if they had found
their backbone. They circled Olivia tightly. and were full of questions.
One said, “The problem is tremendous. We think of a lot of ways, but they did not work. There are
always mistakes.”
The other one said, “I’m so worried that my hair is almost gone.”
There was a lot of chatting and talking. In the end, Gordon Ford, the man in charge, came over and
dispersed the senior professors and engineers. He led Olivia to a laboratory and briefly told her about
the troubles they had encountered in building The Nimbus Gaze.
The Nimbus Gaze was an extension of the existing Skynet system. It was a satellite system that could
manipulate satellites, collect all images and audio information, and process them.
Olivia had a special identity and was considered a non–staff member. She did not participate in the
entire system’s preparation. Only when the team had a problem did she come forward to solve it.
The problem the team encountered this time was the computational speed. The Nimbus Gaze was
almost completed. Even the most difficult technical challenge of controlling satellites had been
resolved.
But now they were facing the biggest problem, which was the computer speed was too slow.
It processed a massive amount of information, searched for helpful information in a haystack, and
analyzed it to get the correct answer. The period of time was too long, which would take a month!
To tell the truth, a month was not a long time. However, a month of high–speed operation could easily
damage the processor. A slight change would make a mistake.
They couldn’t wait for a month and still get the wrong answer. Therefore, they had to solve the problem
as soon as possible!
