“Work is never easy, and | don't mean to make things harder for you all. I'm just reminding you to stay vigilant. Don't let the wrong sort of people hide in the warehouse.” Josephine was relatively easygoing. The bodyguards outside had turned the cabin inside out and even sent people to search beneath the ship, but there was no sign of anyone. It was unlikely that Josie had jumped into the sea, so only the warehouse was left since no one dared cover.
As Josie listened to all that, her mind whirred.
She knows the kind of man Arnold is and the kind of business he's doing for a living. Yet, despite being the daughter of the second person in command of Rivodia, she still chose to go on the sboat as him. | never expected the waters of Rivodia to have grown so dark.
“Understood!” the bodyguards answered. Only then did Josephine turn around and leave.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“What does that even mean? | didn't see a single fly cin. How could whoever it is possibly be in our warehouse?” one of them grumbled under his breath as he closed the door.
The light vanished, leaving only darkness behind.
“Just in case, let's conduct a search.” The other bodyguard was more cautious. He promptly raised his flashlight, turning around and shining it around.
A beam of light fell on Dexter, all dressed in black. His expression was cold and sinister, resembling the Grim Reaper himself. The three bodyguards were taken aback, but before they could even scream, he had already moved forward, covering one person's mouth and ruthlessly striking another with the stun baton.
Josie wasn't idle either. With fast reflexes, she stepped forward and used all her strength to cover the third person's mouth.
The three bodyguards watched in shock as the couple worked in perfect harmony and knocked them unconscious.
They didn't even have a chance to resist.
Placing the last person who had passed out onto the ground, Dexter whispered, “They are all elite soldiers of Arnold and trained for many years. If it really comes to a fight, we are no match for them.” Therefore, he had to rely on his wit to overwhelm them.
A sliver of fear crept into Josie. “Then, we have Josephine to thank for creating this opportunity for us.” Without the bodyguards watching, Dexter could walk around a bit more freely. He made his way to a corner and easily located the entrance to the sewer. He triggered the mechanism and opened it, revealing a short stretch of pitch-black pipeline below.
He sent a precise message from the locator.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmJosie, however, turned her gaze to the surveillance camera obscured by Dexter's jacket. “If the surveillance camera were to malfunction, Arnold would becsuspicious.” Dexter looked over as well. He stepped forward to lock the warehouse door from the inside. With no idea when the three bodyguards would wake up, he preemptively confiscated their equipment to ensure they were incapable of resistance.
He then checked the locator again and saw that the Russell family was drawing increasingly closer.
“Just wait a little longer,” he said in a deep voice.
About ten minutes later, the locator began to vibrate. Dexter glanced up at her, signaling subtly. The two of them waited anxiously for a while. Shortly after, a faint knocking sound sounded from beneath the deck.
Dexter breathed a sigh of relief and lifted the lid of the sewer. The other person exclaimed in a surprised yet hushed voice, “Mr.
Russell, it's really you!” Dexter extended his hand at the man. “Cup first.” He quickly climbed up, clad in diving gear. While doing so, he said, “I only brought ten of my guys with me. The rest are waiting on shore with lifeboats, ready to set off once anything happens.” Dexter nodded. “That's enough people. How did you all get close?” “When we were close enough, we jumped off the ship and swam over. No one noticed.” The other party scanned the warehouse, his gaze finally landing on Josie. Surprise was evident in his eyes, but he didn't ask any questions.
Dexter patted him on the shoulder. “Call the boys up and move all this cash.” Soon, ten men entered the warehouse through the pipeline. They all greeted Dexter and Josie in unison. However, one greeting was verbal, while the other was conveyed through a glance.
