The office area of Eccentric Corporation wasn't extensive, merely spanning two floors. Upon reaching the office via the elevator, the person in charge opened the door for her to the office. "The boss is waiting for you inside." Josie stood at the doorway for a moment, frozen in place. She didn't go without doing her homework. Rumors about the enigmatic owner of Eccentric Corporation, who had never shown his face before, were rife. Yet, the fact that she had the chance to meet him so easily seemed somewhat unreasonable.
The person in charge saw her standing still. "Ms. Warren?" Only then did Josie regain her senses, stepping into the room in her high heels.
The office was clearly not the epitof cleanliness. Clutter and paperwork were strewn all over the place. She deftly navigated through the obstacles, pouring all her energy into seeking any signs of human presence.
"Hello?" It was eerily empty, even sechoes could be heard.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Is anyone there?" Josie clutched the documents Hector had given her tightly, feeling somewhat ready to leave.
Just then, a groggy grunt echoed from the corner, the sound of a man who had just awakened from sleep.
Josie followed the sound, and she was taken aback to see a man struggling to sit up from under a pile of documents. "Yes," the man answered.
Josie's brows furrowed, and she doubted her own eyes. She quickly stepped forward, brushing aside the loose hair on his forehead. There and then, her suspicion was confirmed.
"Morgan? Why is it you?" she asked.
He was still feeling sleepy, lazily leaning back, a smile playing on his lips as he said, "Well, how else would you get to meet Eccentric Corporation's boss?" "You're implying that you're the boss of Eccentric Corporation." Josie didn't even bother to phrase her sentence as a question.
That was because the confident expression on Morgan's face said it all.
Josie felt almost helpless, her stance slightly relaxed. "What do you want?" she asked. No wonder I was asked to cin alone.
"I believe you should lettake a look at the documents first. Otherwise, wouldn't your trip be in vain? It would be a shto waste the backdoor access I've provided for you." With a teasing smile, Morgan rose to his feet and walked over to the floor-to- ceiling window. "The autumn in Wavery is as beautiful as ever, unchanged since our university days," he remarked.
Josie watched his retreating figure, her pupils slightly contracting. In reality, there were many times when she found Morgan to be inscrutable.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Isn't the Bastille family on a downward spiral? When did you manage to gain control of Eccentric Corporation?" she asked. Only then did Morgan turn around, walking over to her. He took the documents from her hands and asked, "Didn't Dexter tell you?" "What?" "He found out that day at the Thymion-style restaurant." Morgan flashed a provocative smile.
Josie thought Dexter had mentioned it, but she just didn't pay attention. That was why she was surprised when she saw Morgan that day.
Given that it was him, Josie didn't plan to hold anything back. She sat down where she was and said, "Eccentre Corporation is highly sought after now. Several hovelcompanies are involved. Which one do you prefer?" sŵMorgan was flipping through the documents. "You've always known who I've had feelings for, haven't you?" On the cluttered office desk, there was a pot of carefully tended flowers. They had already budded, and interestingly, they were black in color.
Josie averted her gaze. "I don't have tfor your banter. Which company do you prefer?" "Olsen Group." "I don't believe you." Morgan was a businessman, and he would never let emotions cloud his judgment.
He gave the document in his hand a slight shake. “The proposal is well-crafted. Did you put this together?" "What do you think?" "You've never been involved in this industry. You wouldn't be able to devise such a refined proposal." Morgan turned around to tend to the flowers. "But I've also seen Russell Group's proposal, and it's better than Olsen Group's." sŵJosie was waiting for his next sentence.
"I heard you returned to Olsen Group, accompanied by that young girl." Morgan approached her, cradling a flower pot in his arms. He half-knelt before her, a gesture of appeasement. "Look. I've managed to grow the flower that Dexter studied. If all goes well, you'll be able to see it in the vast flower fields during winter."
