Caroline was taken aback. The amount of information in Gwen’s words was a lot to process.

For a white, she didn’t know what to say or ask. After a while, she stammered, “Y–you guys

prepared for a surprise proposal at a restaurant?”

“Yeah!” Gwen said regretfully, “It’s probably all gone now. After all, we don’t own the restaurant.

The two chatted for a while longer. Noticing that Kirk wasn’t back yet, Gwen asked, “Where’s Kirk?

“I asked him to handle the flight tickets. I’ll be discharged from the hospital and go to Flonza in

two days.”

“So soon? Your head hasn’t fully healed yet,” Gwen said, surprised

Caroline said, smiling gently. “I’m afraid he doesn’t have enough vacation days, so it’s better to

head over there sooner. I’ll just recuperate over there.”
