Caroline raised Dolly’s chin. “Tell me, why did you put on that act? And who ordered you to do that?

“I–I don’t know. I don’t know anything.” Dolly shook her head, trying to break free from Caroline’s

grasp.

Charles then volunteered himself. “I’ll go ahead and investigate it, madam.”

Caroline turned back to look at Charles, her gaze filled with distrust.

transferred the money to this woman belongs to Daphne.”

Dolly was stunned when she heard the name. Everything she had just said was what Avery had told her to say

before she came here.

Avery had said that she just needed to follow her instructions if she ever met Kirk, and everything

would be fine.
