“Don’t worry, Carrie.”

Dan patted Caroline’s hand. “The wedding will start soon. We just need to wait for their instructio-”

Before he could finish speaking, he fell to the ground.

Caroline was shocked by what she saw. When she turned around, she saw a man in a staff uniform,

holding a tranquilizer gun in his hand.

“Come with me,” he said to her.

Caroline was stunned for a few moments. “Y-You’re not Mr. Y.”

His voice was completely different from Mr. Y’s.

Adrian smiled helplessly and whispered, “She actually acted just like he said she would.”

“You’re right. I’m not Mr. Y,” Adrian said to Caroline.

“Mr. Y asked me to let you know he can’t take you away himself.”

Caroline took a step back. “How do I know if you’re telling the truth?”

Adrian smiled wryly at her words. “Once again, his predictions were right on the money. He said you can

call him if you don’t believe me.”

Caroline doubtfully took out her phone and dialed Kirk’s number.

He answered the call in seconds. Caroline heard a familiar voice on the phone, saying urgently and

sternly, “Go with him.” Then, he hung up the phone.

Caroline raised her head.

Adrian looked at her with a smile. “Believe me now?”

Caroline nodded.

Adrian’s eyes flashed with hurt. “You truly are just … Let’s go.”

Caroline lifted the hem of her dress. “Which way are we going?”

Adrian pointed east. “That way.” With that said, he took the lead and ran in that direction.

Caroline kicked off her heels and followed Adrian barefoot.

However, the two of them were quickly stopped. They were surrounded by a group of men.

“Where on earth are you going, Ms. Evans?” Simon pushed through the crowd and approached Caroline.

Caroline backed away instinctively, but Eddy’s goons were behind her. “I don’t want to marry Eddy

anymore,” she said, looking into Simon’s eyes.

Simon asked gently, “Why, Ms. Evans? Haven’t you always wanted to marry Mr. Eddy? Now that you finally got what

you wanted, why are you running away?”

“I don’t know either.” Caroline shook her head in pain.

“I just don’t want to marry him. Although everyone says he’s a good man, I-I don’t think that’s the case. A good

Simon’s expression shifted at her words. “In that case, don’t blame us for what we’re about to do. Kindly escort Ms.

Evans to the wedding venue!”

At his order, two bodyguards stepped forward and grabbed Caroline’s arms.

Caroline struggled. “Let go of me, Mr. Zellen! You don’t have the right to force me to marry Eddy!”

Nearby, Adrian chuckled, “Hear that? Caroline doesn’t want to marry him at all. What era do you think we’re in? No

one forces people to get married anymore.

Simon turned around and looked at Adrian sternly. “Know your place, Mr. Adrian.”

Adrian sneered, “What, are you using the Sorkins to threaten me? You’re barking up the wrong tree. I’m just an

illegitimate child. Even if that family gets destroyed, it doesn’t concern me at all.”

His words had hit the mark, and after a moment of silence, Simon said, “Even if you don’t care about the Sorkins,

remember, this hotel is the Morrisons’ territory. Don’t you think kidnapping someone in their

territory is a pipe dream?”

Adrian laughed, “Then, let’s see if it’s really a pipe dream.”

As he spoke, he raised his hand and aimed the tranquilizer gun at Simon.
