Along with the yell, countless petals fell to the ground. They scattered on the floor, forming a very

romantic scene.

Caroline followed the trail of petals and saw a huge cake in the living room. The words “Welcome,

Caroline” were written on the cake.

“This must be Caroline.” A luxuriously dressed woman walked over. She took Caroline’s hand and looked

her over.

Sean tried to speak up several times, but he couldn’t get a chance.

“Wow, you’re so beautiful. My son has really good taste. Carrie … Can I call you Carrie?”

Only then did Caroline realize that this woman was Sean’s mother, Betty Curry. Moreover, she seemed to

Caroline said, “Mrs. Yates Senior, I-I’m not Mr. Yates’ girlfriend.”

Betty looked at her son with disdain. “You’re almost 30 years old, but you’ve never brought a girl home.

Since this is your first time bringing a girl home, you can’t blame us for overthinking things.”

As Betty spoke, she looked at Caroline with a smile. “Carrie, do you have a boyfriend? How did you and

Sean meet? What do you think of Sea-”

Before she could finish her words, Sean dragged her to the balcony. “Don’t even think about it, Mom. She

can’t be my girlfriend.”

“Why not? Don’t all boys and girls get together eventually?”

“She’s Kirk’s wife.”

Betty was speechless for a moment. After a while, she said, “That doesn’t sound right. If she’s really Kirk’s

wife, she should be with the Morrisons and not with you. Are you lying to me?”

“Mom, the entire situation is a bit complicated. At any rate, remember this-never mention Kirk around

her! Remember!”

Sean was rarely serious. Seeing this, Betty had no choice but to agree.

With her son’s consent, Betty happily approached Caroline. “Carrie, I’m really sorry for what happened just

now. I misunderstood your relationship.” As she spoke, she led Caroline to sit on the couch.

“It’s okay, Mrs. Yates Senior. I should be thanking you. I may have to disturb you by staying here for a

while.”

“It’s good that you’re here. I get to have some company,” Betty said. Then, she asked the maids to cut

some cake for Caroline.

When Sean saw this, a smile appeared on his face. If his mother could accept Caroline, she would

definitely accept Gwen. However, he didn’t know when he could become official with Gwen.

Caroline almost overate under Betty’s warm reception. Fortunately, Sean came to her rescue and asked

her to get some rest on the second floor.

After Caroline went upstairs, Sean said to his mother impatiently, “Mom, you’re going to scare her away if

you act like this.”

“What do you know?”

Betty asked someone to put away the dishes. Then, she patted the seat next to her and said, “Come on,

you’ve been in Easton with Kirk for over a year. Tell me. How have you been doing?”

Sean mercilessly exposed her intentions. “Do you really want to know how I spent my year or if I have a

girlfriend?”

“Hey, you-”

Betty raised an eyebrow. “Fine, you’re right. Do you have a girlfriend?”

“Yes.”

Betty was over the moon when she heard his response.
