As soon as he walked in, Nigel spoke up, "The note is real. We're going there now." Yvonne looked at him like he was talking nonsense. How could a kidney transplant be that simple? She had already started accepting the reality of her illness and didn't want to make any more effort to change it. Ignoring her, Nigel picked her up and carried her out.
"What are you doing? Putdown!" she protested, embarrassed as nurses and patients stared at them. Her face turned red, wishing she could disappear.
Nigel didn't seem to care about the attention and continued carrying her, placing her in the car. Furious, Yvonne demanded, "Do you think this will makefeel grateful or something?" Nigel started the engine. "You've got it wrong. I just want you to live. There's finally hope now, and I don't want to miss it." He sped up the car, running several red lights as they raced toward the address in the southern part of the city. When they arrived at the location written on the note, they were both taken aback by what they saw. It was a rundown house that looked nothing like a place run by a small business. It was more like an abandoned property.

The yard was clean, and an elderly woman was hanging clothes on a line. Nigel asked, "Ma'am, is this the hof David Lincoln?" The old woman, Shelly Lincoln, paused, turned slowly to get a better look at them, squinting as if to assess who they were.
After a long moment, she nodded. "David is my husband. What do you want with him?" Relief washed over Nigel as he led Yvonne inside. Once they were in front of Shelly, he introduced Yvonne and explained why they had come.
Shelly becvisibly emotional, dropping the clothes she had been holding, not even bothering to pick. them up She circled Yvonne twice her face lighting up. "It's you. You' haven't changed a bit," she said, before calling into the house, "David, cquick! Our benefactor is here!" A slow, shuffling sound cfrom inside, accompanied by the tap of a cane. After what seemed like several minutes, David hunched over with the help of his cane. "You're Miss Yvonne Turner?" His voice trembled with excitement as his hands shook.
Yvonne nodded, responding softly, "Yes." "Wonderful, finally, we get to meet you. Please, cinside and sit." David eagerly reached for Yvonne, ready to guide her inside.
Nigel quickly stepped in, glancing awkwardly at Shelly. He had hoped she might lead David away, but instead, she joined in, inviting them inside for tea.
There was no tfor tea, though. The priority was to discuss the kidney. "Sir, I heard you're willing to sell something. Nyour price, and we'll buy it," Nigel said directly.
The elderly couple exchanged a sorrowful look, their faces lined with sadness.

This time, David sighed softly. "Young man, we do have something to offer, but shouldn't you at least cinside first? You can stand, but I can't." His frail body trembled as if he
might collapse any second. Nigel quickly reached out to steady him He Je noticed how thin and weak J.ne David's arm felt beneath his grip but he said nothing and nodded in agreement.
The four of them entered the house, one after the other. David asked m Shelly to make fea while he invited Yvonne and Nigel to sit down. "Miss Yvonne bet you're not used
to sitting on hard benches. I've got scushions for you both. Here take these "David handed them two brand new cushions, clearly trying his best to make them comfortable.
