Chapter 373
Emmett acted like an outsider as he coldly looked at Kathleen's pale face as she weakly refuted.
Under his cold gaze, the words that Kathleen wanted to say later were cut off just like that.
"Are you done?" Emmett said sarcastically.
Kathleen moved her lips to say but she could not say anything.
Emmett sneered, turned around and went upstairs to the study room.
He closed the door of the study and walked to the French window.
Outside the window, it was a cold rainy night. The street lamps in the courtyard were dim. The trees
were stacked together, and the shadows were heavy.
The rain was still falling, and the wind was still blowing.
Emmett stared outside the window for a while. Suddenly, the scene of Alyssa and Sampson standing
together flashed in front of his eyes.
That scene was especially. . . glaring and unpleasant.
…
After Alyssa returned home with Sampson, she went to take a hot bath and changed her clothes.
When she came out, Sampson had already cooked a bowl of ginger soup for her.
Sampson brought the ginger soup to her and said, "It might be a little spicy."
Alyssa picked up the spoon and something flashed through her mind.
It seemed like the past. Someone had cooked her ginger soup before as well. . .
Her head was a little dull and painful. The spoon in her hand fell back into the bowl with a 'ding' sound.
She closed her eyes and covered her forehead with her hands.
"What's wrong?" Sampson saw her reaction and quickly leaned over to look at her. There was concern
in his tone.
Alyssa's voice was a little weak. "My head hurts. . ."
Sampson's eyes flashed when he heard her. "Did you remember something?"
"No. . ."
The dull pain went as quickly as it came. She shook her head blankly. She turned to Sampson and

Sampson said with a great interest. "What do you think?"
Alyssa could not help but laugh. Sampson had always been cautious and thoughtful. He rarely joked
with her like this.
She smiled and said, "You know I don't remember anything."
"That is not important." After saying that, Sampson urged her to drink. “Drink it now.”
Alyssa finished the ginger soup. As it was too late, she hurriedly cooked two bowls of noodles as dinner
for the two of them.
During dinner, Alyssa thought of Emmett and Angela and said casually, "That Mr. Lawrence looks very
difficult to get close to, but he treats her daughter very well."
Sampson's hand that was holding the chopsticks paused for a moment and he asked without batting an
eyelid. "What do you think of him?"
"As a father, I can tell that he loves his daughter very much, but he has a strange temper." Alyssa said
as she nodded in agreement with her words.
"I see." Sampson replied and did not say anything else.
Alyssa raised her eyes and saw Sampson looking pensive. He seemed to be lost in thought.
"What's wrong with you?" Alyssa rarely saw Sampson like this and asked with concern, “Is there
anything wrong with you? Is your work not going well?"
Alyssa’s thoughts were quite simple after she lost her memory. Seeing Sampson absent minded, she
simply thought there was something wrong with his work which made him behave like this.
"No." Sampson shook his head with a smile. "Let's eat."
Hearing this, Alyssa lowered her head and continued to eat the noodles. Sampson's eyes darkened as
he became more and more thoughtful.
From the scene today, the two of them did not recognize each other.
…
The next day.
As usual, Emmett drove to the Lawrence Group to work.
However, halfway through the car, Emmett told the driver, "Go to the Nine Clouds Media."
Because of what happened yesterday, the driver did not dare to ask any more questions. He only
replied, "Yes, Sir."
Not long after, the car stopped on the opposite side of the road at the entrance of the Nine Clouds
Media.
Emmett looked at the entrance of the Nine Clouds Media and ordered the driver, "Go over. Tell Xavier
that I'm looking for him when you see him."
The driver got off the car and left after receiving the order.
Not long after, he walked over with Xavier.
And there was a man behind Xavier.
The man had a straight face. He looked like a cautious and reliable person.
When Xavier saw Emmett, he was still in a state of disbelief. "Emmett, are you looking for me?"
Every time he looked for Emmett, he was always chased away by the later. He had never expected that
Emmett would actually take the initiative to look for him one day.
Reality would always teach people lessons, and their demands would be constantly lowered.
In the past, he thought that Emmett was heartless for not having meals with him. But now it was
already so difficult to even see him again. . .
Emmett withdrew his gaze and replied. "Yes."
Xavier pulled open the door and sat in the car. He turned around and looked at Frank. He paused for a
moment and said to Emmett, "Can Frank get in as well? You may not remember him. He used to be
your special assistant. He has been with you for many years."
After the incident happened to Emmett, Kathleen fired Frank.
Since he was fired, Frank went to the Nine Clouds Media to work under Xavier.
Emmett looked at the man with a serious expression again and nodded invisibly.
Xavier, who had always been rejected by Emmett, felt somewhat flattered. He said in disbelief, "You...
Have you recovered your memory?”
Emmett said coldly, "No."
"Why are you looking for me then?" Xavier's tone was cautious. He felt like he was a concubine
summoned by the Emperor in the Cold Palace.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmEmmett asked him directly, "Were we friends in the past?"
"Yes." Xavier sighed. "With your bad temper, other than me, who else would be willing to be friends
with you. . ."
Halfway through his words, he felt the air pressure and temperature in the car seemed to be
decreasing.
Although Emmett had lost his memory, his temper had not changed at all.
He smiled awkwardly and said. "Let me tell you this. Other than me, Frank has the closest relationship
with you. After all, he has been working under you for many years."
After he finished speaking, he pushed Frank, who was sitting at the side, and said, "Frank, am I right?"
Ever since he was fired by Kathleen, this was the first time Frank had seen Emmett in person. In the
past three years, he only saw Emmett on the news.
After all, the difference in status between them was too great. They did not have the chance to meet at
all, nor did they encounter each other by chance.
Thinking of these things, Frank nodded with mixed feelings. "Yes."
Emmett's gaze swept back and forth between the two of them. Then, he took out a business card and
handed it to Frank. "I am in need of a special assistant now. Give me a call when you have thought it
through."
Xavier widened his eyes in confusion. Didn't Emmett specially come to find him today?
Why did he give Frank his business card?
Frank took the business card in shock. He felt extremely flattered.
Emmett retracted his hand and said lightly, "I'm going to the company now."
This was an expulsive order for Xavier and Frank to get out of the car.
Xavier and Frank looked at each other at loss. Although they did not understand what Emmett meant
by coming here today, they had a habit of obeying Emmett in their bones. As a result, they got out of
the car obediently.
Emmett looked at the back of the two through the car window. A thought flashed through his eyes.
Three years ago, when he woke up, there was only Kathleen by his side. As he had lost all of his
memories, he chose to believe in Kathleen, who was related to him by blood without a doubt.
However, the recent events made him feel that Kathleen was not that trustworthy.
