left the hospital without so much as a word to Jasper. Though he’d left her with an
incomplete puzzle, she wasn’t going to grovel for the entire thing.
She’d rather figure it out herself than ask. It was high time she stepped back into her

Alyssa pursed her lips, a bitter wave rising in her chest.
She had to admit Jasper looked extremely fine when he smiled, just like how she used to
dream of him.
She had foolishly stayed by his side for three years, giving him things she thought he
might appreciate, learning how to cook, all just so he would smile at her for once.
All of it was futile, however.
Yet, here he was now, smiling at her, even admitting he had feelings for her.
But could her injured, pained heart really be healed by this love that had come too late?
Alyssa took a deep breath, exited the car, and walked up to him.
“Lyse…”
