Chapter 208 – Cat Dad’s First Guild War (2)
Xiaomao wasn’t the only one who started out in his castle alone. Liu Bei was also sent to his guild’s castle while his subordinates were trapped in a transparent cube.
Liu Bei looked up to see the level-900 NPCs that he had hired. Then, he walked toward the castle gate, waiting to charge outside and collect a quest from the nearest NPC.
DING
Before Liu Bei could open the gate and walk out, he received a message with an attached file.
Liu Bei paused for a moment before he smirked. He opened the attached file to see the content, which was a suspicious standalone executable file.
Despite the risk of opening a virus, Liu Bei opened the file right away when he saw the sender’s name.
DING
<Enabling the spectator’s viewpoint.>
The file allowed Liu Bei to view the entire battlefield from the spectator’s point of view!
In this game, no HUD map existed. Nothing could help players navigate through terrains. However, in official live streams, the hosts allowed viewers to see the entire map, cities, or places that the event commentators were spectating.
By obtaining the real-time map, Liu Bei had an overwhelming advantage over Xiaomao, who couldn’t see everything as a whole.
“Neat. I can just slowly crush that guy now.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtLiu Bei snorted and walked away from the gate. He climbed the stairs and stood on top of the castle wall. Then, he opened another game menu, which displayed the current guild resources in the war.
0 SP
SP stood for summoning points. Both guilds automatically generated this resource every second, and it was needed to summon their guild members or build a structure behind their castle walls.
BEEP
The countdown timer reached zero, and a flare exploded in the sky, signaling the start of the battle. Liu Bei snorted and crossed his arms, doing nothing but waiting for his guild’s SP to generate.
WHOOSH
A few seconds later, Liu Bei frowned and narrowed his eyes. He saw something approaching in the sky.
It was Xiaomao, who was riding on a flying sword!
Liu Bei immediately brought out a matchlock rifle and loaded the ammo. But by the time he finished reloading, Xiaomao had already flown back to his base with the NPC in tow.
“I see. Is that your strategy? How foolish!”
Not only Liu Bei believed that Xiaomao had made a mistake, but the war game commentators also disagreed with the latter’s strategy. Their voices entered Liu Bei’s ears because of his privilege.
‘Oh?! What a bold move! Does the MUNYA guild leader know that if he’s killed, he loses the war?’ The female commentator sounded surprised.
‘That’s recklessness. During the first five minutes of the war, there is a grace period of ceasefire. The castle is protected by magic towers that can one-shot any level-1000 tanker. He could have gotten into the range and died.’
‘True. If we look at the replay, Xiaomao was 10 meters away from the magic tower’s range. That was a close call.’
Liu Bei couldn’t stop laughing. As his guild could instantly win the Guild War by killing Xiaomao, he decided to stay on the castle wall, waiting for Xiaomao to fly back here.
“I only need one shot to kill you, pussy cat! Come! It doesn’t matter if you get a quest done before me, you’re no match for my guild!”
Despite saying that, Liu Bei kept glancing at the spectator’s viewpoint map. He could see a big red dot entering the castle.
On top of the map, the screen displayed the total resources that each side had. Currently, both guilds had 200 points. Every second, both sides generated 10 points.
When Liu Bei saw that his guild’s SP reached over 230, he opened his guild menu and picked one of his guild members to summon to the battlefield.
He chose a level-230 guy with a super rare ranger class. When the ranger appeared, Shu Han Guild’s SP decreased by 230.
The required SP was always equal to the member’s level. If Liu Bei wanted to summon a level-999 member to the battlefield, he needed to gather 999 points first. However, Liu Bei didn’t want to wait that long.
“Go, Abe! Grab an NPC nearby and bring him to the castle. If you finish a quest, we’ll get double SP because of your class!”
In Guild Wars, guilds could gain double rewards if their rogues, thieves, rangers, and scout-related classes were the ones accepting the quests. Thus, Liu Bei waited to summon him to the battlefield instead of going out to take the quest himself.
“Alright, boss! I’ll be right back!”
Liu Bei turned around to open the gates while Abe, the level 230 ranger, rushed out of the castle to meet the nearest quest NPC.
DING!
‘Hmm?’
The spectator’s screen sent a loud bell sound, warning Liu Bei of the changes. He turned to the map and found the alarming bad news.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSuddenly, MUNYA Guild’s SP jumped twice. It was the same as Shu Han Guild a few seconds ago. But now, it became 600!
“WHAT THE HELL?!”
Liu Bei knew that guilds could get SP by completing the wandering NPC’s quests, but it increased too fast. He stared at the map in disbelief.
Then, he saw the notification message that explained what Xiaomao had just done.
<Xiaomao has completed NPC#0111’s quest!>
<MUNYA Guild has obtained 200 SP!>
<MUNYA Guild has completed the first quest. Their guild gets an additional 200 SP!>
Liu Bei clicked his tongue. He turned to Abe, who was rushing toward the NPC, “HURRY UP! THAT PUSSY CAT WILL SUMMON HIS MEN SOON!”
Abe turned around and complained with his eyes.
WHOOSH
Suddenly, something fast was charging toward the ranger.
A cat on a flying sword suddenly came for him at the speed of sound! Xiaomao suddenly hopped off the flying sword!
SWUA!
The flying sword pierced through Abe’s level-200 hard leather armor. Because of the momentum and the speed, the hilt cracked Abe’s rib cage and pushed him against the castle wall 200 meters away.
When Abe realized what hit him, he was already pinned to the castle wall with the flying sword stuck inside him. Moreover, his body was dissipating.
“O-Oh…”
Just then, Abe realized that his HP reduced to zero.
