Shin went back to their house completely exhausted as he really couldn't understand his seniors from the research department. After the 'introduction' earlier, all of them asked Shin to have a quick match against each of them as a form of welcome party for him who just joined their department.
The tone that they were using when asking him was quite polite, making him think that he could refuse their invitation. But when he showed some sign of refusing them, those seniors suddenly put up a creepy smile that seemed to be warning him to reconsider his decision.
Helpless, he could only nod his head and agree to them and had a quick sparring match with each member of the research department. But he would surely not let himself get bullied one-sidedly and put up a good fight. Though, it only lasted until his seniors took him seriously.
But despite being beaten by them, Shin quite enjoyed the so-called welcome party since he was able to personally experience each of their strange disciplines. He learned quite a lot from them which also answered quite a few problems that he was currently facing in his own style.
Out of all the members of the group, the one who gave him the most impression was Benedict who was also the vice-president of the club under the Research Department. That guy was quite mysterious and had quite a lot of hidden cards under his sleeves.
From his exchanges against Benedict, Shin discovered that the latter was a Mentalist who majored in spatial techniques which were said to be the hardest art under the Mentalism Discipline.
All of Benedict's skills were based on Space Element, even the barriers that he was using for defense were also set up by distorting the space itself. Such techniques really piqued Shin's interest.
Aside from Benedict, there was also a person that really gave Shin the same feeling that he was getting from Shiella after experiencing her strength personally. And that person was the little girl who was called Dayna.
At first, Shin was quite confused why the others seemed to be afraid of her despite her short height and seemingly harmless appearance. But right after he got beaten up by her before he could even understand what just happened, Shin immediately revealed that she was indeed the real 'boss' among the group.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAside from that, Shin also discovered that this little devil was also the oldest among the group despite her deceitful appearance, she was a 4-year college student and was about to graduate this year. And when Shin also learned that she was Benedict's big sister, he couldn't help but reevaluate that scary little loli.
The others also put quite a lot of impression on Shin; it just the impact that he got from that particular sibling was quite deep.
Setting that aside, Shin was now able to clearly see what the academy was currently planning by pairing them with the college students that were studying within its inner circle.
Shin and the others who applied for the special program of the academy were practically the same age, where most of them were supposedly attending the school as first-year high school students. And now that they were going to be directly trained by the Professors of the school, they would surely be ahead compared to most of their peers.
And adding the fact that they could spar with the seniors from their chosen departments, the boost in their battle experiences that they were going to receive from the sparring matches would really affect their growth with a large margin.
"Looks like there are a lot of things that I can look forward to in the upcoming school year," muttered Shin as he lied on the sofa powerlessly.historical
After getting beaten up repeatedly by his seniors, Shin really felt like not doing anything right now and just got some peaceful sleep. And when that thought crossed his mind, he really stood up from the sofa and went upstairs, heading to his room to finally have his rest.
But before he could even enter his room, his senses suddenly picked up a dangerous aura that seemed to be directed in the house.
"Tsk! What is it this time?" said Shin with a deep frown before spreading his Spiritual Sense and increasing its area to its maximum range.
Through it, he was able to clearly sense everyone's movements within its radius. He could feel that the others were currently in their respective Gaming Cabins and playing the game. The only one who was awake was David who seemed to also be sensing what was happening outside.
David also turned to Shin's direction despite being separated by the walls of the house. He clearly was also using his Spiritual Sense at this point in time.
After confirming that each of them was aware of the threat looming outside their house, the two immediately gesture with each other before quickly making their moves.
Shin stood near the main door of the house while David positioned himself on the opposite side. They didn't leave since there were still some guards outside that were assigned by the Springfield Family alongside the guards that the Cilvana Family had sent to protect Cloe from the dark.
But the problem was how this particular person, who was releasing the dangerous aura, managed to sneak past those guards.
Shin felt that the air within the house suddenly became cold and heavy. Then the hair on his body suddenly stood erected as if someone was staring at him like he was some sort of prey.
Sensing that, Shin quickly activated all of the techniques that he could use to be in full alert and ready to explode in an all-out battle later.
But strangely enough, the thing that he was expecting didn't happen. No one barged in the house nor attacked him from an unknown place. Moreover, the killing intent that was directed to him earlier suddenly disappeared as if it had never been there in the first place.
Then Shin suddenly knitted his eyebrows quite deeply as he also sensed that the dangerous aura that was surrounding the house earlier also disappeared alongside that killing intent.
"What was that for?" muttered Shin as he slightly shook his head while maintaining the deep frown that he had.
While he was still in the middle of his thoughts, David suddenly walked over him and patted his shoulders. "I'll go check if that person is still in there, so you go and get some rest."
After that, he walked past Shin and got out of the house in a calm manner as if he was going out for a night walk.
On the other hand, Shin looked at David with a knitted brow before shaking his head once again and heading back to his room.

David walked around the neighborhood for a couple of minutes and headed towards a small park within that place. He then surveyed his surroundings for a moment before shaking his head. "Isn't it a little too much for a visit, Sir? What if you accidentally attracted the attention of 'those' people?"
A few moments later, Professor Henry suddenly walked out from the shades of the trees a few meters away from David. He then laughed heartily and replied to the latter while stroking his mustache. "I'm sorry for that, little David. I just got a little curious after hearing the evaluations that his seniors had given me earlier."
Hearing that, David couldn't help but release a helpless sigh before saying. "But you still need to be careful, Sir. We still don't know who the traitors are hiding within the Council."
"Ho-ho! You don't have to worry for those old men, little David. No one will get suspicious of someone who is known for not practicing any kind of discipline," said Professor Henry chucklingly.
After that, he coughed a few times before quickly asking. "Anyway, how is your master? It's been a while since I last heard anything about her. You should tell her to visit this old man when she gets some free time. I am getting older and older after all."
"Master is fine as always, Sir. And you don't have to worry too much about her. All you need to remember is that she is able to put a leash on that demon person, and you will be reassured that she will always be fine on her own," replied David while shaking his head.
When the old professor heard those words, he couldn't help but laugh out loud for another time before agreeing. "Haha! You are right about that! She is indeed a capable one when it comes to taming the most untamable monster in the whole world."
After that, he turned his head back to David before asking. "But what is the deal with those two? Are they sure that they are going to continue leaving their child alone? They should also be aware that this little monster is going to be much harder to tame than his irresponsible father."
This time, David could only release a helpless sigh before quickly replying. "My master is really against this decision but Sir Adam insisted that this is the only way, so she can't do anything about that."
He then took a brief pause to give the professor a deep bow before asking. "And that is also why she is asking you to please take care of this child until the right time finally comes, Sir!"
Professor Henry couldn't help but smirk a little when he heard those words before quickly giving his reply. "Heh! Of course, I am going to look after this child."
"After all, he can already be considered as my grand disciple," he added while also wearing a mysterious grin at the same time.
