87 Chapter 87: Leveling up the bronze statue secret technique
As soon as Alex was done killing all eight of the mutated spider monkeys he quickly gathered their core a sat down in a cross-legged position in preparation to absorb them. Since he didn’t bring a backpack he didn’t have a place to store the fist size gemstones so he decided to use them right away.
By the way, this is just a yellow zone territory so there is no need to worry since all he can run into are wolf threat mutant beasts. Holding two gemstones in his hands Alex began casting the Mater absorption ability and slowly he could feel the powerful suction force, pulling the energy within the beast cores. His eyes lit up with power as his hair fluttered in the wind while he did that.
Last time, Alex simply absorbed the power of the beast cores just like that. Back then he could barely feel it but e knew his fitness increased a little bit but that was just it. Unless he has an unlimited source of beast cores Alex knew it would be a waste of resources to do that again.
His eyes narrowed as he considered doing something different this time. The bronze statue secret technique manual he got was obviously incomplete and although its power is currently trash, Alex knew how important it would be if he is able to raise it to a higher level. He already had terrifying attack power. What he lacked now is a sturdy defense and a powerful movement technique.
Since he couldn’t get his hands on a good movement technique, for now, Alex assumed it would be best for him to improve his defense first.
The bronze statue technique is a method by which the user places his or her chi at the surface of their skin to help strengthen it and make it as thick as possible. Alex already knew the demon-kin secret technique so controlling his inner ki has never been a problem. The problem he faces is that his own inner power is not strong enough to push the technique to the next level so he chose to use the power of the beast cores as a substitute.
His eyes flared up brightly, as strong shockwaves erupted from his body and his skin lit up. A flesh burning smell filled the air as Alex remained still like an ancient statue. The only movements he made were switching beast cores when the previous ones ran out of energy.
This process lasted for over an hour and during that time more mutant beasts of various kinds were attracted by the energy fluctuations and the burning skin smell but seeing the number of mutant beast corpses around Alex, none dared to approach. No one wanted to join the spider monkey gang in the great beyond but they weren’t willing to give up a possible prey too, so they just lurked around. Waiting for an opportunity to strike when Alex lets his guard down.
During this period, Alex was aware of their presence but he did not bother with them. After absorbing the power of eight beast cores he could already tell he was about to make a major breakthrough. His body was already covered with smelly black sweat.

Deep inside he could feel the power within him changing. His bronze skin was already turning silver. His mind felt clearer and his body weakened at an alarming rate!
Bleh!
Just as Alex absorbed the last drop of energy within the beast cores, he felt his body shiver the urge to throw up overcame him.
Bleehh!!!
Alex spat out a mouthful of black liquid mixed with blood. His body shivered and he felt extremely weak and exhausted. Alex wanted to fight against the exhaustion since he knew he was surrounded by enemy. If he passes out here, there may not be a second chance for him.
Without hesitation, Alex struggled to cast the newly evolved silver statue technique. His skin was already black due to his matte absorption use on the twin demon bat daggers.
His vision was blurry and right now he didn’t know how long he could remain conscious! He felt dizzy and staggered back, almost falling back!
Bang!
Suddenly two leopard like mutant beasts with green fur and pitch-black eyes charged forward, lunging toward him at his weakest moment! Alex’s vision may be blurry but he could still tell what was happening. His grip on his twin daggers tightened as he pushed his left leg back to regain balance! He was about to make a move but then two arcs of energy flashed forward, splitting the two mutant beasts in two. The attacks carried some sort of cold air with them, releasing an illusion of snowflakes falling off the sky.
A white man in a white kimono dropped down gracefully, grabbing Alex’s weak body. He tried to reach for Alex but Alex dodged his hands and dove forward, leaving One sword confused.
He stretched his hands forward and plunged them into the two dead mutant beasts, pulling out their beast cores and shoving them into his pocket.
Roar!!!
Seeing Alex was a distance away from the white-haired man, the other mutant beasts charged forward viciously! If they can kill him, then all their effort won’t be in vain!
Although Alex’s vision was blurry, his senses were still as sharp as a blade!
“Kill me? I’m sorry but you are not qualified to do that!” Alex growled as he pulled out his daggers and slammed them together, creating powerful sound waves that made the mutated beasts fall to the ground, rolling around in pain and sorrow. Meanwhile, One sword was disturbed but as a B-rated guardian, he could ignore the effects to an extent.
Running over, he grabbed Alex by the waist and pulled him over. He held on to the ladder thrown down by the chopper and signaled them to move. Alex sheathed his blades and slowly shut his weak eyes. He felt like he was getting pulled up but he didn’t bother. The dangerous time has passed, and he can finally rest.
..............
Alex slowly opened his eyes and his body instantly felt sore on all sides. His eyes were heavy and even his breathing was uneven. Right now his condition was far worse than when he upgraded his bronze statue to the Silver statue.
He noticed his temperature was quite high and he quickly assumed he had a fever.
<> Alex couldn’t help but mutter in his mind.
His eyes were calm until he realized the stench from the impurities that left his body was gone and his clothes got changed. His heart started beating madly as he realized he wasn’t the only one in the room. Looking to the side he saw Tracy, sleeping.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHer hand was placed on him and she seemed extremely tired. Alex knew she must have been the one who took care of him. He reached for his phone on the desk beside the bed and when he checked the time he realized it was already 3 am.
“How long did I sleep?” Alex muttered to himself as he rolled off the bed before using the blanket to cover Tracy.
He walked towards the mirror on the wall only to realize his skin was smoother, lighter in complexion, and more attractive.
“Could this be the side effects of practicing the bronze statue secret technique?” Alex muttered in shock.
He could remember the last time he practiced the bronze statue technique, those black substances also left his body and he felt better. It was obvious the technique also remove impurities, improving the body of the user.
Without hesitation, Alex controlled his energy and cast the silver statue technique around his arm. His entire right arm thickened as it turned silver! Seeing this Alex was thrilled!
“How much better Is my defense now?” Alex couldn’t help but mutter.

After taking a hot bath and some painkillers, Alex visited the underground training chamber of this place for the first time since he came. It was like a massive football arena, but with everything slightly more complex and white. On the walls were countless weapons of various grades. Alex knew the bronze statue could not stop bullets but he was strangely confident the silver statue can do that.
“Why are you here? You must still be tired” A voice echoed from behind, catching Alex off guard but he didn’t flinch. Instead, he slowly turned around to see who it was.
“One sword... You are still up?” Alex asked causally.
“I am the head of the security team here so it shouldn’t come as a shock I’m still awake by this time” One sword said respectfully.
“I heard you were involved in some sort of top-secret operation where a normal human can be given deviant abilities... You are here so I believed it was successful... I saw it yesterday... The power you have... It’s amazing but strange” One sword added since Alex wasn’t speaking.
