Chapter 89
Christiana’s POV.
The air outside the warehouse hitlike a punch. After days of being trapped in that dingy, suffocating space,
the open world felt foreign, like I'd forgotten what freedom tasted like. | stood there for a moment, trying to
catch my breath, my body stiff and aching from days of being tied up.
Markus that was his name. He had taken off the mask and | figured who he truly was. It was as if knowing his

“Here” Markus said, gesturing to a taxi parked at the edge of the rundown street. “I told the driver to take you
wherever you need to go. Please just know | never meant for this to happen.
| looked at him, my mind spinning. His face was pale, his eyes filled with remorse, but | couldn't shake the image
of him tyingto that chair, watchingsuffer. And then the slaps. The apology didn’t erase the pain, the fear.
| stepped toward the taxi, wanting nothing more than to get far away from this nightmare. But Markus wasn’t
done.
“Christiana, please,” he said again, stepping closer, his voice thick with desperation. “I didn’t know it was you. |
owe you my mother’s life. If | had known... | would have refused the job. | swear it.”
I met his eyes, my hands clenching into fists at my sides. “You should've refused it anyway. You kidnapped me.
You tiedup. You helped keepfrom my kids.”
His face twisted with guilt. “I know, | know. And I'll live with that. But please believe me, I didn’t know. Bianca...
she’s the one who hired me. She didn’t tellwho you were
The mention of Bianca's nsent a surge of rage through me. My jaw tightened, and | could feel my pulse

Markus took a step back, sensing the fire in my tone. “I swear, Christiana, if | had known...”
“I don’t care what you knew,” | cut him off, my voice cold, my eyes narrowing as 1 glared at him. “What matters
is that you did it. You took me. You helped her.”
He dropped his head, shoulders slumping as if the weight of my words crushed him. “I can’t take it back,” he

| stared at him, my breath shallow, my mind was of anger and exhaustion. He could apologize all he wanted, but
it wouldn't erase the fact that Bianca had orchestrated this. The woman had crossed a line she couldn't come
back from, and the only thing I could think about now was how much | wanted to make her pay.
The driver was watching us from inside the car, his gaze flickerung betweenand Markus, probably sensing
the tension. | opened the door and slid into the back seat, feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders. | was

Before the door could close, Markus leaned in one last time, his voice desperate. “I'm sorry, Christiana. Truly. If
there's anything | can do...”
“Get out of my way,” | snapped, not even bothering to look at him. “You've done enough.”
He flinched, taking a step back as the door slammed shut. | gave the driver my address, and as the car began to
pull away, | saw Markus standing there, watchingleave with regret plastered all over his face. But regret

The city lights blurred past as the taxi sped down the road, my heart pounding with fury. My hands clenched in
my lap. nails digging into my skin. Bianca had made this personal. She had rippedaway from my children,
throwninto hell for her own twisted vendetta. And for what? Slong-dead rivalry? Spathetic attempt
to get back Alex?
“She’s going to regret this, | muttered under my breath, my jaw tight, eyes burning with unshed tears of anger.
The driver glanced atin the rearview mirror but wisely said nothing.
| leaned my head back against the seat, the exhaustion crashing intolike a wave. Every part of my body
ached, my muscles sore from days of captivity. But none of it mattered. All could think about was vengeance.
Bianca was going to pay. for this. I'd tear her apart if | had to. She had cfor me, but she’d made a mistake
by underestimating what | was willing to do to protect my family
The city seemed to pass by in a blur, and with each passing second, my jaw only hardened. | would find Bianca. |

This wasn't over.
The taxi slowed as we approached the hotel, the familiar sight of the building making my heart race. It was the
first sign of safety after what felt like an eternity, | could see two of my bodyguards stationed at the entrance,
tall and alert, their eyes scanning the area.
As soon as the taxi cto a stop, their heads snapped toward me, and | watched the confusion flash across
their faces. One of them. Thomas, narrowed his eyes, and then recognition hit him. His posture straightened, and
his face turned pale.
“Ma’am”“” he shouted, rushing forward, yanking the door open before | could even attempt to move.
| tried to smile, to reassure him that | was okay, but the exhaustion hitlike a tidal wave. My body slumped,
and my vision blurred. | barely registered his strong arms catchingbefore | collapsed.
“Get her inside, now!” | heard his voice, sharp and commanding though it felt distant.

“Get the doctor” someone yelled, probably one of the other guards.
Through the haze, | saw the nanny, Melissa, rushing forward. Her face was a mask of shock and concern as she
