171 Inside The Center Building (2)

‘If there was another humanoid demon’s base like this one that had many humanoid demons inside them, then it would be possible for me, Robus, and Cyra to level up again and possibly even evolve...’ Blake thought as his fingers were holding the temple of his head.

Level:13 (63/150)

‘I’m only 2 levels away from level 15... I possibly need 250 or 300 more souls to reach that and doing that the old ways would take too much time. The only way I could reach that number is if I go to these humanoid demon bases and wreak some havoc there.’

‘Freeing some of the humanoid demons from slavery while eating most of them for their souls... It’s not a really bad trade in a world where they supposedly need to kill each other to get stronger, right?’

‘With Cyra and the new ability she gave me, it won’t be the same as last time.’

‘I will still need to be cautious and not make another fatal mistake because I underestimated my enemy and overestimated myself, but it’s much more – even very doable with Cyra and her capabilities to do deadly AOE attacks that are very suitable to ravage an entire base that was mostly made out of wood or any other combustive materials.’

‘The only thing that I needed to make extra preparation for was the unknown humanoid demon from the deeper realms.’

.....

Blake thought about the flying humanoid demon that he just killed earlier.

Although the humanoid demon had the ability to fly probably as fast as Vera and he also had the ability to cast 4 spells at the same time, the flying humanoid demon didn’t seem to have any other affinities other than the affinity for darkness element.

And although Blake already understood now that it was not common to have it, especially with the case of humanoid demons, the flying humanoid demon also didn’t have any bloodline ability.

And he didn’t dare to assume such an overestimation that the enemies he would meet later in the other humanoid demon bases would also be like that. A single affinity demon with no bloodline power.

Blake didn’t want to be on the verge of death again, and he wouldn’t bet that another Cyra would come to save them if the three of them would somehow be put in a predicament that they threw themselves in.

He honestly thinks that it would be hard putting the combination of him, Robus, and Cyra into such a predicament.

Robus was a walking tank that can literally take anything with his body, possibly even Blake’s second realm spell without getting instant death. Cyra could be a walking disaster if she wanted to do it as casting hundreds of fireballs was not only possible for her, but it would only be another day at the office for her.

And for Blake himself, although he didn’t have the same toughness that Robus had nor the ability to cause as much destruction as Cyra, Blake was right in the middle of them, capable of doing both at the same time.

Moreover, as Vera had reminded him before they departed to the main continent, Blake had his rune formations that he could use to lay out traps and make a possibly disadvantageous situation turn into an advantageous one with the rune formations.

Their team combination was top notch and Blake doubted that they would ever lose to the native demons in the first demon realm, including the ones that had evolved once and were about to descend to a deeper realm or a variant that was as strong as Cyra.

However, the lesson that he had been taught by his own experience was one that was impossible to forget and it had been planted firmly in Blake’s being, and he would still proceed with caution.

With that being the case, Blake had made his decision. He, Robus, and Cyra would be going to the other humanoid demon bases and getting themselves enough souls to evolve.

As Blake wanted to tell Cyra about his decision, a loud roar was heard from outside the building and Blake had been together with Robus long enough to know that the roar belonged to him.

“Cyra!” Blake called out, leaving the main room behind, and running back to the outside of the building.

With the connection that they now had with each other, even without Blake telling her what he meant, Cyra could know what Blake had meant and soon followed after him to run outside the building.

Blake didn’t know what had caused Robus to release another roar despite the humanoid demon’s base being desolate earlier, but whatever it was, Blake wouldn’t want to take a chance to leave Robus alone to fight a humanoid demon from the deeper realms if that was what had caused him to release that roar.

As the size of the house was not that huge, Blake and Cyra soon arrived outside the building in a matter of seconds and they could finally see Robus standing at the front of the building with his back facing Blake and Cyra while he roared toward a certain direction.

Blake followed Robus’ face and soon found the reason for his roar earlier.

It was indeed humanoid demons that had caused Robus to roar.

However, Blake didn’t jump right away and attack the humanoid demons in question since they weren’t humanoid demons that came from the deeper realms.

How would he know? Of course, it was from the rags that the humanoid demons were wearing as their clothes, and also the fact that they didn’t bring any kinds of weapons and showed their hands on the side of their bodies, slightly to the back as if showing that they didn’t intend to launch any attack soon.

Blake wondered what those humanoid demons would possibly come to do in a destroyed base where Cyra’s fire was still burning all over the base, looking anything other than safe, especially for those humanoid demons that were the targets of the trio’s attacks earlier.

Blake also wondered why Robus didn’t just leap there and squash those few remaining humanoid demons, but he soon found out why.

“Wghe... Surrendgher...” The humanoid demon standing at the frontmost of the group half-shouted, loud enough for Blake to hear clearly what the words he was saying.

Although Robus wasn’t capable of speech yet even after the covenant, unlike Cyra, who had become fluent ever since they met in their sea of consciousness, Robus was still able to understand more and more of the demon language the more time he spent with Blake.

Hearing no response from the trio, because Robus couldn’t speak in the first place, Cyra didn’t care at all, and Blake was still wondering what was happening, the humanoid demon in the front of the group said again,

“Yghou stroghng... Wghe waghnt tgho fghollow yghou...” The humanoid demon then bowed his head in the trio’s direction, which then the other humanoid demons soon followed after him and also bowed at Robus, Cyra, and Blake.

‘We want to follow you..? Is that what he was saying?’ Blake guessed in his mind as he saw all the humanoid demons in front of him bow their heads.

And as if wanting to make it even clearer, the leader of the humanoid demons repeated once again after a few seconds,

“Wghe waghnt tgho fghollow yghou.”

Blake heard it clearly the first time, and now that it had been repeated for the second time, with the exact same words and even more clarity, he was now sure that he wasn’t hearing things when he heard what the humanoid demon standing on the frontmost of the group had said.

Hearing those words, Blake was baffled, but it was not something that was too unexpected and not impossible to happen.

Vera had told him stories about the native humanoid demons of the first demon realm when they were on their boat, doing nothing but making sure the sailboat moved in the correct direction.

Although it was impossible for the native humanoid demons to make a large base with high walls and make proper sailboats complete with rudders and rune formations inscribed on them, it wasn’t impossible for them to know about the difference in strength and what would happen if they foolishly tried to fight a very strong enemy that they clearly couldn’t beat without a clear reason.

And a case of the native humanoid demons forming groups to fight other groups or strong demonic beasts was not uncommon either as their level of intelligence made them realize the benefits of doing so.

However, the groups weren’t anything like the ‘I have your back and you have mine until the end of time’ thing. The moment they stopped needing the benefits of the group then the group became nonexistent.

And that was why Blake was thinking thoroughly about accepting the humanoid demons’ offer.

He knew that even if they wanted to betray him or bite him later, they wouldn’t be able to be a significant threat to him unless they all had reached level 15 and had evolved.

Which would never be the case as Blake would reach level 15 faster than them and would soon leave them behind.

Having a few goons of his own didn’t look so bad as he would literally get a free worker that would do anything he told them to with a price of a few souls.

Blake counted the benefits and merits, but mostly the detriments that he would get if he accepted the humanoid demons’ offer.

And his mind soon came to a quick conclusion.
