Chapter 90: Vera’s Findings
When her feet touched the ground outside her isolated space, Vera quickly spread her wings wide and ran her nether through them.
The moment her nether filled her wings, Vera’s body became as light as a feather, and one strong jump and a flap of her wings was all that she needed to go high past the tall trees around her and flew in the reddish sky.
And after taking a quick check on the direction that she wanted to go, Vera then flapped her wings again and quickly shot through that direction.
Different from the insect wing demon that could only fly with a such low speed that Blake could easily outrun the demon with his two little legs, Vera’s flying speed was on another level.
Each flap of her wings generated an audible sound that could be heard from the ground beneath her, even though she was about 40 to 50 meters away from the ground.
Her speed was even higher than Robus jumping through the forest with his huge and strong muscles, and her current speed was more comparable and about the same as the huge crow’s speed when it flew at full speed.
She was flying using almost all of her might despite the many restrictions on her body that made it possible for her to exist in the first demon realm despite being the resident of a deeper realm.
.....
And despite those restrictions, her speed was at the peak of the first demon realm and she was able to go toe to toe in the speed department with the demonic beast that had a commonly stronger physique compared to the humanoid demon.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtDespite her calm manner previously, Vera still took the matter of Blake finding humanoid demons on the island seriously and decided to go and check things by herself.
She trusted Blake’s story and she did become calmer when Blake said that he could defeat all of the humanoid demons, but just to make sure that nothing really went wrong, she decided to go and check it by herself.
She recognized the direction that Blake had pointed out to her on the sand board and she was currently on her way going in that direction.
But Vera didn’t plan on searching for the remnants of the battle between Blake and the humanoid demons as it couldn’t give her the information that she needed to check whether things were as simple as she thought they would be or if there was something more behind it.
And if she really wanted to do that, she would have better drag Blake with her since he was a walking map that could remember everything after a glance.
What she really wanted to do now was check the humanoid demons’ origins.
When Blake told her that only one of them could fly and considering the place and direction where Blake first met them, Vera already knew how those humanoid demons could get into the island in the first place.
There would be other ways to get to the island. But considering that she was in the first demon realm, the possibility that she currently had in mind was the most probable one.
With just about a dozen minutes of her flying at almost full speed, Vera traversed the same amount of distance that took Blake a few hours to travel across.
Just like how she had planned it earlier, Vera went past the spot where Blake met those humanoid demons and continued going in that straight direction.
And a few minutes after she continued flying, the view that went into her eyes finally changed from the sea of reddish-green trees to a literal sea.
A deep blue-colored sea that was seemingly unaffected by the red sun above the sky.
The color of the sea was as dark as a new moon sky without any stars. And although the red sun that shone above it, the deep blue color didn’t have even a tinge of red on them.
But despite the ominous dark color that it had, the sea was as calm as it could be without any huge waves present.
And when Vera saw she was near the sea, Vera continued going in that direction and finally stopped when she completely flew past the sea of green and arrived at the sandy beach that connected the island and the deep blue sea.
With the island being far away from the main continent of the first demon realm and with most of the humanoid demons being unable to fly, there was only one way that they could get into the island.
And that was by using a boat.
And Vera’s guess was right as when she stopped above the beach, she found the boat that she was looking for stuck in the shallow waters.
However, despite having her guess being right, Vera’s calm mind once again was put into distraught when she took a good look at the boat that the humanoid demons used to get into the island.
The boat looked like a medieval boat that Blake would have seen in pirate movies back in his world. It was decent in size, more than enough to hold five or six humanoid demons comfortably.
It had a large sail that stood in the middle of the boat and a rudder at the back of the ship to make the boat move and steer in the right direction.
It was a fairly medieval boat that was lacking in technology. And Blake wouldn’t be surprised when he saw that the humanoid demons that couldn’t even get speaking right were using old technology.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHowever, the one that was currently seeing the boat was Vera and not Blake.
And Vera knew exactly that the humanoid demons, that couldn’t even speak properly, didn’t have the capabilities to build a sailboat complete with a proper sail and a rudder.
She would even bet that if they were to somehow find a sailboat that appeared out of nowhere, they wouldn’t be able to operate them with their level of intelligence.
And the only way for them to build or even operate a sailboat was if someone else, not a native from the first demon realm, taught them how to do it.
———–
Somewhere in the main continent of the first demon realm.
“Sir, one of the teams in the expedition group has been wiped off.”
Sitting on a throne made out of smooth stone, a humanoid demon was listening to another humanoid demon that kneeled in front of him.
“Oh? Which danger zones did they go into?” The humanoid demon that was sitting on the throne calmly asked.
“None, sir. They were the group that went into the seas to explore the islands around the mainland.”
The two humanoid demons that were speaking with each other spoke in a clear manner, just like how Blake and Vera spoke to each other, different from the humanoid demons that Blake met on the island.
And also different from them which could be considered to have a grotesque looking physique, the two humanoid demons looked fairly human, with only a few notable features such as their skin being reddish in color and their claws and horns being jet-black in color.
Upon hearing the report, the humanoid demon that sat on the chair squinted his eyes for a few seconds before giving his command.
“Send more teams to their last known position.”
“We should find out what kind of beast laid hidden over there”
