Chapter 0097 Hector POV

"You are certain Jude?" | ask for a final tover the speaker phone to Jude as | stood in my office with Ezra and

Riley.

"My source is good for his word. Alpha Beckett has left the Nightshade Reformed pack, if you want to find her,

now is the time." | was potentially treading on very thin ice with visiting Beckett's pack that was currently in a

conflict with a pack from the group alliance.

If | enter the pack, it could be seen as a step against the alliance, a step in favour of the Nightshade Reformed

Pack gaining the lands. Which would bring a political headache to my front door.

| don't for one moment believe there has been sightings of a white wolf and Kaia could be connected, but

something withinwas keen to find her. To offer her a safe place back at this pack. It painedin my chest to

think of anything bad happening to Kaia, and living in a pack like that...it would only be a matter of time.

"Okay, let's do this." I'm determined to reach her, and with the Alpha off site, it should make my mission slightly

less...problematic.

"Pickup on the way..." Jude's voice springs into action over the phone's speaker.

"Really?"

"Yes, | want to see what this Beckett has been up to."

| formalise my plan with Ezra and Riley, before grabbing details on the Nightshade Reformed pack's location for

my car's satnav system when | feel a guard push on my mind-link.

“Alpha?”

""What is it?"

"There's a car parked up on the North side border, not moving...just waiting."

"How long has it been there?"

"Around 10 minutes now Alpha."

"The colour?"

"It's a red SUV, which blacked out windows. | can't see who and how many are inside."

A red blacked out SUV is a classic Amber Desert pack vehicle. We were being watched but | didn't care, | -wasn't

going to let that prick's antics stopleaving today.

"I'm leaving, I'll make sure to check the vehicle out as | pass it."

Why had Than sent a car to watchand my pack, shouldn't he be too busy living in mated bliss to worry about

what | am up to.

I would have felt them mark one another, | would have felt the severing of my own mate bond with her.

But why hasn't he done it.

I leave the pack grounds, ensuring the gate is thoroughly locked and guarded behind me.

Just in case.

As | gain distance on the red SUV, the driver window winds down and I'm suprised to find Than is in fact the one

carrying out surveillance. | park the car up, exiting my vehicle to challenge his presence here.

My shoulders are stretching out, my body standing tall as | search the area around me. He was definitely alone,

there was no trace of other werewolves, no warriors...nothing.

Why was he here.

"Well, this is a surprise." | smirk as | stand close enough to the car, but not too close. He can hearwell

enough from inside the car.

"Is she here?" No tfor pleasantries as usual with him.

"Is who here?" | know exactly who he means but it's fun to antagonise him with any opportunity.

"Don't play dumb with me...Alora." | wasn't playing dumb, who else would he mean. It's always Alora and Than,

nothing would change that.

But why would he think she was here. Why would she not be with him.

"Now why the fuck would she be here?" | cross my arms over my chest, my muscles rippling to remind him | was

the alpha here.

"She's left, gone with my female beta."

"Gone where?" | seethe through gritted teeth. It never failed to amazehow so easily he could fuck things up.

"That's why | am here...| don't know."

"You don't know?" | scoff.

"You don't know where your Luna is, where your mate is? You mean to tellyou weren't watching her like the

usual hawk that you are?"

"No, | was off grounds."

"Off grounds...not still looking for your ex wife are you?"

By the clicking of his jaw | could tell I hit the nail on the head. He had everything he could ever want, his mate, a

pack to run yet he still wanted his ex wife.

I'll never forget that day, when Alpha Damon cto collect me. It was the day Mum had died, | was only 8

years old.

| knew | was a werewolf, he had visitedoften, we were even a happy family until | was 4. Then he clairned he

found his mate, that he could no longer be with Mum. It wasthat wiped her tears,that cuddled her at

night when the sadness wouldn't leave her,that kept her going.

She was heartbroken when he left, leaving the 2 of us to stay in the human area to shack up with his new bride

and Luna. The ironic thing is that Mum made him happier even though, as Medea would always say, she was just

a human.

The day | arrived to the Amber Desert Pack | was told | would be the future Alpha, that Damon had brought me

back hwith him.

Not one mention of my Mum, it's as if she hadn't ever exist.

| remember meeting Than for the first time. This 4 year old boy was thrusted into my lap to play with. I was told |

was his big brother, | was to protect him for the rest of my life. How when | was Alpha, | would look out for him

and he would be my Beta. How times have changed, how Medea made Damon change his mind.

My own Father stripping away my alpha title, making Than the rightful heir. How Medea's poisonous tongue got

into Damon's ear, making sure to let him andknow that being half human, | wasn't good enough to be an

alpha.

Yet here | am, a self made alpha. Looking down at the man, the brother, who was meant to be my Beta.

The brother | was told to protect, always taking what is mine.
