Chapter 6071: The Bastard LeftHere
“But you do know about his past self?” Li Qiye asked Water Emissary while glancing at Fog Emissary.
“I do feel a familiarity between us, were we acquaintances once?” Fog Emissary asked.
“Of course not, you are you and I am just an underwater ghost.” Water Emissary shook his head.
“I’m talking about my past self.” Fog Emissary pursued the matter.
“Your past self or external matters had nothing to do with me.” Water Emissary denied.
Fog Emissary didn’t buy it and gritted his teeth, thinking of a way to pry it out of him.
“Back to Old Pact, what happened next?” Li Qiye wanted to know the process.
“No one was left alive, perhaps only the guide who led them here. I do not know the details since I was hiding underwater. Nevertheless, a monstrous weapon activated, and in my opinion, it was strong enough to kill an overlord.” Water Emissary said with dread.
“Got it.” Li Qiye found out that the progenitors used their ace card and said: “It was blocked successfully, the only reason why your market is still around.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Yes, so lucky.” Water Emissary patted his chest before smiling brightly: “It’s nice to be alive, even for a ghost. And the power was the reason why I said the ghost market wasn’t involved, it was just too much to handle.”
“How nice of you all.” Li Qiye said: “What was the reason for establishing a battlefield here?”
“That’s not something I can answer, Sir.” Water Emissary smiled and glanced over at Fog Emissary: “He has the most knowledge out of anyone in the market so if he doesn’t know...”
“I’m too new of a ghost to know about it.” Fog Emissary responded.
“How did you becan emissary?” Water Emissary asked.
Fog pondered carefully but couldn’t remember because it seemed he was an emissary at the start.
“There’s a core for each of you.” Li Qiye said.
“That is correct, Sir.” Water Emissary said: “We call this core a ghost sigil, an essential requirement for an emissary.”
“How did you get yours?” Li Qiye asked.
“My ghost sigil? Someone probably lost it and I picked it up by chance.” Water Emissary smiled.
“Lost, discarded, or sother ways?” Li Qiye stared at him and said.
“All the same.” Water Emisary said: “Back then, I wanted to survive after that bastard threwhere, so I cup with a plan...”
“Which bastard?” Li Qiye had a serious expression.
“Oh, it’s nothing.” Water Emissary changed the topic: “How did you get your sigil?”
“I had it from the start.” Fog Emissary answered.
“Oh, how interesting, a sigil right after transformation. Not hard but not easy either, kekeke, perhaps you did something unsavory first to facilitate the change.” Water Emissary said.
“Are you sure you’re not talking about yourself?” Fog Emissary had met the guy before but this time, a sense of familiarity arose. He couldn’t pinpoint anything in particular.
“People who’ve done bad things often don’t realize they’ve done it. That’s part of their nature.” Water Emissary shrugged.
“What are you implying?” Fog Emissary realized the insinuation.
“Nothing.” Water Emissary replied before telling Li Qiye: “Sir, maybe you should take a look at the battlefield if you want more clues. I will not bother you any longer, please summonagain if you need me.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Splash!” He dived into the water and the river disappeared.
“Where are you going?!” Fog Emissary had more questions so he also gave chase, leaving behind Li Qiye and Six-style.
“What should we do now, Young Noble?” Six-style asked.
“To Heavenfall to figure out the secret behind this.” Li Qiye looked ahead and said.
“We must cross through Forest of Thoughts first.” Six-style said.
“That’s fine, we’re getting close.” Li Qiye smiled.
The major ghost market could be divided into three sections - the market itself, Forest of Thoughts, and Heavenfall.
The market was the main region where transactions took place between cultivators and ghosts. Forest of Thoughts was outside - a mountainous and verdant area with no end in sight.
As for Heavenfall, it had nothing outside of perils. Therefore, even the grand ghosts refrained from visiting.
Li Qiye and Six-style entered Forest of Thoughts and saw no ghosts. This looked just like the regular world.
Lush mountains and dense forests greeted them. How could such a peaceful place filled with natural beauty be associated with ghosts?
However, this mysterious place had a particular belief - strong memories evoke echoes. Cultivators entering with strong feelings could resonate with the forest.
For example, if one were to be obsessed with finding a spirit grass, they could actually find it in the forest. This seemed great on the surface but in reality, there was a price to pay. Dangers might loom near the grass, perhaps a ghost.
This strange phenomenon aside, the forest was known for its temples that could be summoned with strong thoughts. A temple containing an alchemy field might appear to the person wanting to find a spirit grass.
