CHAPTER 219
~Kai Mansion~
While Andromeda and Liu Xueyi basked in the afterglow of their love, her stepmother and sister were finding it hard to stay calm and watch her rise to the top.
Seated on one of the sofas in the living room of the Kai mansion, Fang Mei placed the newspaper in her hands down on the sofa as she directed her gaze from it to the empty glass of juice on the table beside her.
"Hmm, don't these girls know they should be at my beck and call or do they want my anger to rise?" Fang Mei muttered to herself as she released a deep sigh.
She had unknowingly finished the small jar of apple juice that was brought before her as she ot so invested in the news concerning Andromeda.
Ever since the fashion show and Beatrice falling prey to Andromeda's trap, Fang Mei had been monitoring the Liu Corporation closely.
She had tried pulling the plugs she had to help quench the matter but no matter what she did, things were not playing in her favour.
And even though they tried to slander Andromeda, it wasn't working.
Every online post was immediately taken down after an hour of it being posted. To make matters worse, they got threats from anonymous accounts, warning their people.
At this point, everything became a bother for her. Whereas, Andromeda enjoyed her top spot at Liu Corporation.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe even went to the point of using Kai Beifang to talk to his daughter, but that action had backfired as well, leaving her with little to nothing to do to slander or pull the young star down.
In the situation she found herself, Fang Mei did not know when she had consumed so much.
Casting a side glance at the empty jar, she shook her head before beckoning one of the maids.
"Anyone there? I need a refill. Get me a wine from the cellar instead," she called out to them.
No sooner had she done that than she heard the sounds of hurried footsteps, signifying that her order was heard and one of them was working on it.
Taking in a deep breath, Fang Mei exhaled slowly, before leaning back against the chair's headrest shutting her eyes close briefly.
'Andromeda Kai. Like your mother, you wish to reach for the stars. I am sorry that as much as that is truly admirable, only one female can shine in this family and that is me and my daughter next.'
Her mind brought back memories of her time as his secretary when she watched as the madam of the Kai family would walk in, clad in her high heel shoes and classic outfit, just to see her husband.
She had a knack for fashion and although she did not major in fashion design, her style was top-notch.
It was no wonder Andromeda took her love for fashion.
'Back then I was beneath you but no more. This time I would be above you. I took care of you; your daughter would be next. I won't have anyone contend for Beifang's wealth with my children.'
Finalizing with her conviction in her mind, Fang Mei pried her eyes open slowly only to be met with one of the statues like figures of the maids in the house.
"Mistress, the wine is here."
"It is madam to you," her stern voice corrected as a dark glint flashed before her eyes.
Immediately, her lips tugged downward, erasing all forms of a smile from her face as her eyes darkened, sending chills running down the spine of the young maid who had just been employed.
Flickering her eyelashes with her gaze trailing up and down while keeping the disgust proudly on her face, she questioned, "You are new?"
"Yes, madam."
"Not an excuse!" Fang Mei snapped instantly.
At this point hearing, anyone calling her mistress was an insult to her personality.
It reminded her so much of the fact that she indeed stole that position from the original wife of the house.
So, whether young or old employees, they ought to know else she fired the person.
However, with the issue going on and how well she had pestered her husband concerning it, Fang Mei was careful not to irritate him by firing another maid.
"My apologies, Madam."
She lifted her hand quickly, silencing the girl before she had the chance to soil her mood further.
"Get out of my sight and ask Fei Fei to uncork the wine for me."
"Yes, Madam."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmDoing as she was told, the young maid scurried off as fast as her feet could take her.
Everyone did their best to avoid Fang Mei whenever she was angry.
Besides, it was not news to anyone living in that house that she hated the young miss and heiress of the Kai family.
And ever since the newspaper came that morning, she had been moody.
Ding Dong!
'Now who is that uninvited guest?' Feng Mei pondered.
Nevertheless, she relaxed back onto the sofa, hoping it would take her worries away even if it were just for the meantime.
No sooner had she done that, than she heard the happy squeal of a young child, forcing her into an upright position instantly.
Fang Mei had just turned her body to the side when she saw the young master rush in and straight for her.
Her lips tugged upwards, revealing a breathtaking smile as she showered her son with kisses and hugs.
Following closely behind him was her daughter, Fang Daiyu. One look at the young lady and Fang Mei could see her own frustration mirrored in her.
"Mother, we are back," she weakly announced, throwing her hands at her side in a not-so-happy manner.
"I can see. I can also see there is more than what your lips say. What is the matter, Daiyu?"
Peeling her gaze lazily from her mother, Fang Daiyu's eyes landed on her brother who for some reason began to play with the wine on the table.
"Yong master Kai, head to the kitchen and ask Fei Fei to help get your bath ready. Mother and I need to talk."
