Chapter 489 Wishes: Drawing a Line

CHAPTER 489
~10 Days Later~
Sun Yichen walked into the room with an amused expression on his handsome face.
He wore black slacks with a white shirt underneath along with his usual pair of sunglasses which he took off once inside.
His hair had been combed neatly back with some gel that made it stand straight up like it always did whenever he got ready for anything important or formal.
"Good morning," he greeted cheerfully and walked over to sit as if nothing happened between them.
Yu An clutched her teacup in her hands, her gaze trailing after Sun Yichen as he sat down across from her on his couch.
She was dressed in a bodyfitted purple gown that hugges her curves and assets in the right places while giving a touch of professionalism but still revealing her intent on seduction.
Who was she trying to trick?
Sun Yichen's cheerful greeting hung in the air, but Yu An didn't return it with the same enthusiasm. Instead, she regarded him with a cool, composed expression, her fingers tracing the rim of her teacup.
"Morning," she replied, her tone neutral, not offering much emotion.
For a moment, an awkward silence settled between them. Sun Yichen shifted slightly in his seat, his amusement fading as he observed her
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWhen he was informed she came visiting that morning, he felt she had wished to spend the weekend in his place and was ready for some more unprofessional delight.
However, the vibe and aura she gave spoke a different tale while her dress, gave off mixed signals.
"You seem... distant today," he remarked, his voice taking on a more serious tone. "Is something bothering you?"
Yu An hesitated before answering while keeping her gaze steady. "I've been giving some thought to our situation."
Their situation was a delicate matter. They'd recently decided to become business partners, and their recent interactions had been far from professional.
Although he had Fang Daiyu by the side to marry, the moment he laid eyes on Yu An, he saw a potential business partner and a way to safeguard his family from falling low.
While the hunter felt she had captured her prey the moment she gave in t a kiss when they went drinking, after setting the atmosphere for such, she had no idea she had become the hunted and her prey, now the predator.
To Sun Yichen, although sleep around wasn't what he yearned for or usually do, but when it came to an eager participator with one he could gain from, he gave in—just like Fang Daiyu.
Rarely that occurred since he handled his business well but thanks to the flop they experienced with Liu family, he had to sink to this.
Sun Yichen's brow furrowed slightly, but he nodded, signaling for her to continue.
"I believe it's in the best interest of our partnership to maintain a strictly professional relationship," Yu An stated firmly. "No more... distractions."
Sun Yichen's expression remained composed, but there was a flicker of disappointment in his eyes. "I see," he responded evenly. "You're right. Our focus should be on the business."
He had wished to deter her but a second thought prevented him from doing that.
She couldn't waltz into his life, wrap her clutches around him and sleep with him to be the one who would wish to call things off to a professional level.
No.
While she believed she was a seductress, he believed he was quite the charmer who could get what he wanted.
At this stage, it was a case of may the best strategist win.
Yu An nodded in agreement, relieved that he seemed to understand her perspective. "Exactly. Let's keep our interactions strictly related to our projects and work."
It was clear that this decision weighed heavily on both of them. They had a short but shared romantic history, but their priorities had shifted over time. The complexities of mixing business with personal emotions had become too evident to ignore.
Sun Yichen leaned back in his chair, his fingers steepled as he regarded Yu An. "I agree. Our projects have just begun, and I don't want anything to jeopardize that."
The tension in the room began to dissipate as they both acknowledged the importance of their professional collaboration. It was a relief to have clarity in their relationship, so she thought.
As they delved into discussions about their upcoming projects, they maintained a respectful distance, their focus firmly on the tasks at hand.
The room filled with the sound of their voices discussing plans, strategies, and timelines. Despite the shift in their relationship, their shared passion for their work remained unwavering.

Or was it all a façade? Either way, Sun Yichen was sure he would win, having her both in his bed and getting things to work out for his company.
A knowing smile formed on his lips. He was determined to make the Sun family stand out. Used or be used, give or take. The business world was like that.

Having the celebrations and preparations move in time for Christmas made Andromeda feel giddy.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThis year she knew she'd be showered with love and possibly have a family to celebrate with unlike the past five years of her life where she was in a loveless relationship.
All this time she had been the understanding girlfriend and it yielded nothing but now, she found peace, love and family.
Knocking at the door of her apartment, Liu Xueyi held out a bouquet of flowers. He was dressed in a rich red suit with a black inner long sleeved shirt and a red tie with black shoes to match.
His hair was neatly combed all back, a style Andromeda rarely saw as he loved bringing a part in front of his face.
He took a sharp breath and adjusted his tie. Quickly he checked himself and waited.
One. Two. Three.
Four…
The door pulled back, revealing Andromeda in a sparkling black and red knee length off shoulder gown with the same colour of fringes used to design every available space in her clothing.
She had a pair of red heels on, with a sparkling golden necklace housing a red gem in the middle, matching her wristwatch.
"You look, stunning," Liu Xueyi complemented as he moved in to kiss her red lips.
"Thanks honey. You look dashing as well. I bet the Liu family's friends, acquaintance and business partners would love to steal you from me today."
Liu Xueyi chuckled deeply and shook his head. "They can try but they won't succeed. Here, a rose bouquet for the lady."
Her eyes shimmered as she accepted it. To Liu Xueyi's surprise, Andromeda leapt into his arms and kissed him deeply.
"You never fail to impress. Merry Christmas in addy, honey."
He wrapped his hands around her waist, holding her close to him as he whispered, "Merry Christmas eve love. I hope as the year ends, it takes with it every bitterness and sadness you felt this year."
"I pray for stronger love for us, more strength for you to achieve your dreams and be the star I know you are."
Their faces leaned in, connecting their lips as they sealed their wishes with a passionate kiss.
