She was afraid the child would treat her as a stranger and refuse to get close to her.

“Yes, Grandma can hold me.” Caroline immediately opened her arms with an innocent and bright smile.

Britney finally let out a sigh of relief. She brought the little girl into her arms and held her tightly. This is Christine’s

child. She’s finally come back to us!

Christine was gone, and the only thing left of her was this child. This pitiful child.

Looking at the scene before her, Alice was reminded of her parents, the tears in her eyes blurring her vision.

“Okay, let’s all go inside now.” Lawrence suddenly spoke up.

Alice almost shed tears, but she held them back.

The Knight Family’s mansion was huge and luxurious. Caroline quickly became happy and excited; she was no

longer as reserved as when she had just arrived.

She had always been sociable, so it didn’t take long for her to become familiar with the two elderly members of the

Knight Family.

“Your father is away on a business trip. He will only be back in a few days. By then, you’ll be able to see him,”

Britney explained to Caroline patiently when the little girl asked about her father.

Watching this scene, Alice suddenly felt relieved. In the Knight Family, Caroline would have a father, grandfather,

grandmother, great-grandfather, and great-grandmother staying by her side.

The Knight Family could give her a complete home and lots of love, whereas Alice could only give Caroline very

Lawrence didn’t go to the company. Instead, he stayed home to accompany Caroline.
