“I asked him when he would get the div…” Chris stopped. “Holy… He couldn’t be mad because of that, could he? No
way. No way, Derek,” Chris denied it even before anyone could have a say.
“We know Ethan. Alice helped his family out. He might have married her because of Caroline, but he’s not
heartless. Yeah, they might get a divorce, but he’ll compensate her. He wouldn’t want us insulting her, so you’d best
be careful,” said Derek. He thought a lot before coming to that conclusion.
Chris nodded quickly. He thought Derek had a point. Ethan didn’t like Alice and only married her because of
Caroline, but then Alice did help the Knights, so he would side with her a bit. That’s not love. That’s just gratitude.
Ethan isn’t a heartless guy.
When Ethan came back home, he was greeted by silence. He went to the second floor, and not a sound was heard
—not Caroline or Alice’s voice. Alice always spoke gently to Caroline. Ethan went back to his room only to find no
one inside. Man, it’s like I’m not even married.

some special elixir made by Joseph. Joseph told him the elixir could wash away all disguise, no exceptions. All he
had to do was rub the elixir over the disguise and wait for a minute.
He tried to meet up with her at Irvin’s place because he recognized her as the woman he met seven years ago
through the way she waved her hand. She might have escaped, but he was sure she was the one who came down
with Irvin. Even though she was in a man’s attire, her face was perfect and flawless. It was clear there was no scar
on her face.
Moreover, Naomi’s plan for the wedding failed, but oddly so. She’s found herself the perfect replacement to push
the blame on Alice. There’s no way she’d get the scar wrong. Not Naomi. She wouldn’t have made a rudimentary
mistake like that.
Back at the wedding, he suspected that Alice’s scar was false, so he asked Joseph to give him some elixir. He
stopped taking his clothes off and instead opened the suitcase Caleb brought to his room.
Holding the elixir, he left his room and made his way to Caroline’s room. He knew that was where Alice slept. He
hesitated for a moment, however, but then he realized that he and Alice were married. There was nothing to be
afraid of.
He tried to open the door, but it was locked. She locks the door in her own home? But I’m not giving up. He went to
look for the key, then used it to open the door.
There was a night light on. Alice and Caroline were sleeping on the same bed. Caroline was sleeping next to the
wall, while Alice slept beside her while facing the door. Ethan approached the bed, staring at her face. Her
eyelashes were long, her skin was fair and smooth, and her lips were red and lustrous. Everything would be perfect
if not for the scar. What an eyesore.
He took out the elixir and poured some onto a cotton pad, then he crouched down and patted it on Alice’s face.
He waited for a minute. Joseph promised the elixir could remove all disguises. If Alice’s scar was fake, then it would
disappear in a minute.

Ethan counted the time in silence. For some reason, every second felt like an eternity, and a minute seemed like
forever. When the countdown was done, he took the cotton pad off her face.
He stared at the scar, waiting for it to disappear. Minutes went by, but the scar still didn’t leave her face. Ethan
blinked in disbelief. He didn’t want to believe the plan failed.
Thus, he tried to rub her scar away, but it was still there on her skin. Refusing to give up, he used more strength,
and yet the scar remained.
Just then, his phone rang, much to his shock. Worried that he might wake Alice up, he quickly took the call without
even looking at the caller’s name.
At the same time, Ethan used a bit too much force, and Alice muttered, “Ow, lighter.” Her voice was soft and
drawling; it was perhaps because she had just woken up. There was a hint of seduction in it which made Ethan grip
his phone tighter.
At the same time, the call went through, and Chris said, “What are you doing? Holy… Are you sleeping with her?”
Chris couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
He called because he was worried Ethan might be mad, but he didn’t expect to hear Alice’s moans. Since the
speaker was turned on, everyone heard it too, and they exchanged looks of awe and shock.
Ethan’s face fell and he hung up right away.
