I like her. The old man’s been asking me to get married. He thought it was annoying, but now he thought the
proposition was just fine.
Emma had been watching, and she was shocked. Is this the same Alice I know? The same stupid woman?
Xandra was smart. Instead of going for offense, she heaved a sigh and carefully chose her words. “Calm down,
Miss. My manager’s just too worried. I was here a while ago, and someone saw you approaching me, so we
suspect…” Her goal was clear: to go through Alice’s bag.
“Call the cops then. I’ll work with them if they want to investigate,” Alice interrupted, refusing to listen to her. She
looked at the people in front of her and sneered. “No one can touch my stuff otherwise.”
Rachel quickly stood up. Her legs were buckling, but she refused to back down. “Hah, who do you think you are?
You can’t stop us.”
Alice ignored her and made a call.
“No one can help you now.” Rachel sneered, thinking Alice wanted to call for help.
The call went through, and Alice turned the speaker on.
“Hello, Rodcaster Arcturus Area Police Department, how may I help you?”
Everyone froze. They couldn’t believe Alice was actually calling the cops.
“Hi? Y-Yes, I need help, please. Royale… Room 505. P-Please, you have to come here. Please…” Alice spoke in a
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtterrified tone and stuttered a few times before she hung up.
The crowd was flabbergasted by the sudden change in Alice’s demeanor. Is she even the same person? When they
realized Alice had returned to her earlier self, they thought what they saw earlier was a hallucination.
Keith’s lips twitched, but his eyes twinkled. Interesting. She’s good, very good. That’s the woman I like. That’s the
woman I want.
“You’re calling the cops? But this is Keith’s party! Are you trying to ruin it?” Xandra was shocked that Alice called the
cops. After all, this conspiracy was something she was involved in, and she was scared about getting found out.
However, she remembered the ‘evidence’ was in Alice’s bag, and she got smug. She’s done for once the cops get
here, and she’s going to get on Keith’s bad side. Even if something were to happen, Keith can settle it. No one can
insult him and get away with it.
“I’m just a law-abiding citizen. We’re taught to call the cops whenever we need help. Was what I did wrong?” Alice
put on a bright and innocent smile. The crowd thought the smile was blinding.
Keith cocked his eyebrow. I have a feeling that she was a rowdy one in her school days.
The cops arrived at Royale a short while later.
Derek, who came with Ethan to the party, was just making his way to the bathroom when he saw some cops
roaming around. He frowned. “What’s going on?”
Oh, the chief. One of the cops politely answered, “Someone called us.”
“Who did?” Derek was surprised someone called the cops. He didn’t hear any ruckus. Who called the cops? And
why?
“No idea. It was a woman, but she didn’t leave her name. She sounded scared, though. Panicked, even.” The cop
was the leader of this operation. He was told of the details on his way here.
“Are you sure it’s here?” Derek was doubtful. He wondered if the cops had the wrong place. This place has been
quiet.
“Yes. Room 505,” said the cop confidently.
“What?” Derek was shocked. “But that’s Keith’s room. Keith called the cops? This might be serious.” Did someone
die? No, Keith wouldn’t call us even if someone died. That’s just not his style. So, what happened?
“I’m coming with you.” He looked grim as he thought the case must be more serious than he had imagined.
Derek followed the cops into the room, but there was no chaos to be found. Everything was neat and quiet, and
Derek’s eyes shone with a sharp glint. What’s this? Everything’s fine, so why call the cops? Do they think we have
nothing better to do?
His face fell as he then realized everyone was silent, but their gaze was fixed on a particular corner. There were
people huddled there, but he had no idea what was happening.
“Um, who called the cops?” The young cop was a little flummoxed. Nothing bad here, so why did they call us? Is this
a prank call?
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmRachel quickly stood up and pointed at Alice. “She did! She called the cops!” Rachel shouted loudly, as if she was
worried the cops couldn’t hear her.
The cops quickly went ahead, and Derek followed as well.
But when he saw Alice, he froze. “M-Miss Woland.” Why is she here? What is she doing? And why did she call the
cops? Ethan is in the room next door. If he finds out she got into trouble…
Derek addressed her formally, and that made a world of difference. In his heart of hearts, Derek didn’t
acknowledge Alice as Ethan’s wife. To him, she was not worthy of Ethan at all.
“Ah, Mr. Jenkins.” Alice didn’t care how he addressed her. Derek was just a stranger, nothing more, nothing less.
She too addressed him formally, and not in a casually formal way either.
“You called the cops?” Derek’s eyes glinted. “What happened?”
“She stole Xandra’s necklace. It’s in her bag.” Rachel became wary after she heard how Derek addressed Alice.
However, she quickly remembered that Alice was nothing but a fool and that there was nothing to be afraid of.
Derek’s face fell. He might not acknowledge Alice as Ethan’s wife, but the fact remained that she was married to
Ethan, and he would not let anyone insult her. It would be an insult to both him and Ethan, not to mention Alice was
the Woland Family’s young miss and the president of Woland Group a while ago. According to Chris, that company
had made a lot of money over the last seven years. As the biggest shareholder, Alice could make a lot of money
every year. There was absolutely no need for her to steal a measly necklace.
