Chapter 469 - New Beginning (1)
Chapter 469 - New Beginning (1)
It felt weird for Tang Moyu to stand in front of the Tang Estate, knowing that she wouldn't have to face her 'mother' and the rest of the Tang family. She had no doubt that they'd been cursing her in their hearts right now. Not that she cared anyway. She owed them nothing over the years.
If they even had any semblance of being a family to her, they should have shown it when they had the chance. What was the point of blaming everything on her now, when it was clear that they only tolerated her because of what they could possibly obtain from her.
"What's wrong? Feeling sentimental already?" Feng Tianyi appeared next to her and buried his left hand in his side pocket while the other one gripped his cane casually.
This was his first time visiting the Tang family's ancestral house and it was far from his expectation. Although he knew that the Tang family coveted a luxurious lifestyle and connections with influential families, none of it could be seen from the simple, larger white house with high fences around it.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe glanced at his wife, remembering that she didn't have many good memories in this place. He wanted to protect her with all his might, even if it meant going against the whole world.
There might be someone else out there who could love her more. Someone who could make her happier, but it'd be okay if she never realized that. Feng Tianyi only wanted her to look only at him and to love only him.
Fear, doubt, mistrust… again and again, he was aware that these unwanted feelings grip his heart, forbidding him to be truly happy with his wife. When he saw her with Yun Zhen, he wondered if she only wanted to be with him because of the twins, wondered that maybe he wasn't the one meant to be with her.
He didn't doubt that her feelings for him were real. But maybe it was because it was convenient for the two of them to be together without even thinking about it. Someday, he feared that Tang Moyu might wake up and realize that she didn't really love him.
"No. Let's go. I want to make sure that they aren't anything missing inside." Tang Moyu took the initiative and walked into the front door of the massive house. It had only been a while since she'd been here, the last time was when she told her grandfather to leave the property. Suddenly, the memories from the moment she started to have consciousness flowed through mer mind.
The memories of her young age flashed through her eyes. She and Feng Tianyi arrived at the sitting area, where the family usually received their guests. Inside, a part of her earliest memories flashed in front of her.
Her father held her in his arms as he shielded her from other Tang family members. There was a huge argument between him and her 'mother', Tang Moyu could still remember. It was during when her father had just heard about the trauma she received from being trapped inside a closet and hadn't been fed for days.
Tang Lixue had been so furious with his wife that he had tried to throttle her to death. His whole body was shaking with anger as he held his precious daughter in his arms.
"How dare you lay a hand to my daughter? Are you tired of living, Zhang Wuying?!" He yelled at his wife, who'd been cowering in fear behind Elder Tang and his relatives. He'd only been gone for a month for a business trip, imagine his shock when Auntie Lu called him in the middle of an important meeting.
It was the first time the young Moyu had seen her father like that and wondered if he didn't hate her anymore. She had always assumed that her father hated her, given the way Zhang Wuying implied that he never cared for her.
"Moyu, what's wrong?" Feng Tianyi's question brought her back to reality.
Tang Moyu blinked and saw that the butler had been waiting for her response about something he said earlier.
"Sorry, what was it?" She asked the butler. historical
"Miss Moyu, I was asking if you want to make any changes anytime soon. I can assign someone immediately if you need to." The butler replied.

Feng Tianyi said nothing and followed her lead. He appreciated that she was taking slow steps so that he would be able to walk alongside her. This was one of the things he liked about his wife. Although Tang Moyu barely talks, her subtle ways and actions were enough for him to know she cared about him.
They walked in silence, hand in hand, checking the rooms in a breeze. When Tang Moyu stopped just outside her father's study, Feng Tianyi noticed a difference in her eyes. It was like she was reminiscing something about the past.
"What's with this room?" He asked.
Since it seemed like she wasn't willing to explain things to him willingly, Feng Tianyi decided to ask her. It had always been like this between them. Feng Tianyi had to ask her questions if he needed to know something and she would always answer him with the best of her ability.
"It's my father's study. I've never been in here before." She admitted.
She remembered that whenever her father was home, this was the only place they would be able to find him. He would never sleep in his bedroom, nor would he spend time with his estranged wife, who was simmering in anger and could only turn her hatred on the daughter he had left behind.
The door creaked open, which surprised Tang Moyu. This door had always been locked from the inside and had been kept off limits to anyone, even her, until now.
