Chapter 525 Why Can’t I Catch Your Eye?
Aletta finished her work and happened to come over from the research department. As soon as she entered, she
noticed Jason’s cold and somber expression, feeling a bit puzzled.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, walking up to him and raising her hand to smooth out his furrowed brow.
“There’s something…” Jason told her about Joe’s escape.
Aletta listened and looked somewhat surprised. She had only been speculating before, but she didn’t expect that
Joe actually had a mental illness!
Nevertheless, she tried to reassure him, saying, “It’s alright, we’ll just be more cautious in the future.”
Jason still had a lingering uneasiness, but in front of Aletta, he could only nod.
Later in the evening, after Jason finished his work, he took Aletta to the restaurant to meet up with the old man.
Jason had reserved a private room in one of the upscale hotels under the Hill Group, which was lavish and elegant.
When they entered, aside from the three elderly people, Walt and the four little ones were already there. The Jay
couple had also arrived.
Upon seeing them holding hands intimately, Jenny’s expression soured immediately. However, due to the presence
of others, she didn’t say anything.
Aletta noticed Jenny’s gaze directed at her but disregarded her presence completely.
Then, she politely greeted, “Mr. Hill.”
Old Mr. Hill had a joyful expression on his face when he saw them, as if he hadn’t noticed that Aletta didn’t call

He beckoned Aletta, saying, “Are you tired from work today? Come and have a seat!”
Jay nodded cordially, “Please, have a seat.”
Aletta nodded and sat down with Jason.
The waiter quickly served the dishes.
Except for Jenny, everyone else felt a pleasant atmosphere.
Aletta took care of the four children and the three elderly, serving them food.
Jason, on the other hand, took care of Aletta.
Jay noticed his son’s thoughtfulness and fondness for Aletta. He couldn’t help but feel emotional about how they
had come this far.
When they had almost finished eating, Jay spoke up, expressing his gratitude to the Rogers Family’s elders, “Mr. Hill,
we are very grateful that you have agreed to Jason and Aletta’s marriage. Aletta has suffered a lot in my family
before, and I truly apologize for that! As a father, I also bear great responsibility.”
Mr. Rogers had heard similar words many times before. He wanted to give Jay face and waved his hand, saying,
“It’s all in the past. Let’s not bring up those things. We understand both your and Old Mr. Hill’s intentions.”
Mrs. Rogers chimed in, “Yes, we understand your intentions… but not everyone does.”
Her words caused a slight tension in the room.
Mrs. Rogers looked directly at Jenny, her gaze straightforward. She couldn’t discern any emotions as she said, “Let’s
have a meal together. With that expression on your face, it seems Jenny has some objections to this marriage,
doesn’t she?”
Jenny didn’t expect to be singled out even when she kept silent.
Her expression stiffened, and she remained silent, clearly dissatisfied.
She was completely opposed to Aletta entering the Hills’ family with all her heart and soul!
Mrs. Rogers had been holding back her thoughts on this matter for a long time. In the past, she remained silent for
the sake of her granddaughter and the face of both families.
But today, when the Hills took the initiative to reopen the discussion on the marriage of the younger generation,
she wouldn’t coddle Jenny anymore.
In a composed tone, she asked directly, “I am curious, why don’t you approve of my granddaughter? Although she
was mistakenly raised in the countryside and had a difficult life, she hasn’t turned out badly. In fact, she has been
well- behaved and sensible since childhood.”
Back in the day, when you married into the Hills, he was filial to his elders, respectful to his in-laws… And what
about you? You were always giving her a hard time, constantly scheming to break her and Jason apart.
Now she’s become so accomplished, partnering with friends to start a company, making significant contributions in
the medical field. People even call her a genius doctor… Why can’t she catch your attention, Jenny? Instead, you’re
attracted to someone like Gail, who is full of lies and hypocrisy.”
Mrs. Rogers’ questioning echoed in the private room.
This matter had long been a source of resentment in her heart.
Jenny didn’t know how to respond to the sudden confrontation.

Years of animosity had accumulated, leading to an almost instinctive rejection.
Additionally, because of Aletta, her husband and she grew apart, her son became cold towards her, and even her
grandchildren ignored her. This made Jenny even more repulsed.
But she definitely couldn’t say such things….

mean to let out my frustrations and ruin the atmosphere… I just genuinely don’t understand why someone would
hold such animosity towards my granddaughter. She’s so well-behaved and hasn’t done anything terribly wrong!”
Old Mr. Hill, upon hearing her words, immediately responded, “Anyone who doesn’t like this girl must be blind. Why
bother with them? I’m different… When I first laid eyes on this daughter-in-law, I liked her. I had a feeling, ‘This is
right, this should be your real granddaughter’! That Gail is simply not up to par!”
The two elderly people burst into laughter because of his words.
Jay, seeing the atmosphere restored, quickly signaled Jason to pour them drinks.
Jason stood up and said, “Grandpa, Grandma, let’s eat. The food is getting cold.”
The scene quickly returned to lively, but Jenny felt like an outsider, as if she were chewing wax!
After dinner, Jay and Jenny were responsible for taking Old Mr. Hill back home.
Walt escorted Mr. Rogers and Mrs. Rogers.
As for Aletta and Jason, they were getting ready to take the four children back to Hill Villa.
After the group left in their cars, “missing” Joe slowly emerged from a dark comer near the hotel,
Her eyes were gloomy, and her gaze was like that of a venomous snake, extremely intimidating!
