Chapter 562: An Encounter with the Past

Chapter 562: An Encounter with the Past

Within a minute, Professor reached Dew Street, arrived in front of the compound entrance gate, opened it with both hands, and stepped into the yard.

He quietly walked into the invisible array layer, stepped into the porch region, and soon arrived at the building’s entrance door.

Then, he raised both hands, pushed open the wooden door, and soon stepped into the grand hall.

Hayden and other Divine Order members stood a few meters away from the entrance and looked for something in those dead bodies.

Professor also glanced at the tens of dead bodies and soon turned his gaze towards the left side pillar.

At that moment, Ezra’s body was tied to the pillar, and he had long died due to severe blood loss. But the strange black marks that appeared all over his body caught Professor’s attention.

.....

“Curse marks? Hmm, I sense a smell of Hell Fire in those curses.” Professor muttered solemnly.

Meanwhile, Hayden and other robed mages noticed Professor’s arrival and bowed their heads at him.

“Greeting, My Lord.” Hayden stepped forward and started explaining the situation.

“Our men didn’t even last more than one minute in this battle, My Lord. It’s the first time I’m seeing a person kill a Legendary Rank powerhouse in seconds. From the clues we’ve gathered, we confirmed that the enemy actually forced Mr. Brooks to use his trump card, ‘Seven Lives.’ What’s more unfortunate is that even his trump card didn’t seem to have worked on the opponent, leading him to commit suicide.”

Meanwhile, Professor made a clap and commented,

“You are good at deducing clues.”

Simultaneously, he opened his mouth and muttered.

“Past Touch!”

Within a second, all the surroundings started to break like mirrors, revealing the battle between Charles and Brooks.

He calmly watched every scene and soon frowned.

‘Charles has the power to invade one’s mind? It’s not that he overpowered Brooks in battle, but he made preparations and caught him off guard, huh? No wonder Brooks faced trouble.’ Professor fast-forwarded the past vision until he arrived at the scene where Charles started talking with Ezra.

“Although I don’t like you, you got some precious memories in your head. So, stay alive for a while.”

Upon hearing those words, Professor froze for a moment before making a guess.

“Mind Fire! No wonder he managed to force Brooks to the corner.”

While Professor was muttering, Charles raised his hand, released countless invisible strings, and bound Ezra’s body to the nearby pillar.

Then, he cut off both hands and legs and turned his gaze towards the center of the grand hall.

But suddenly, Charles stopped his footsteps and asked a question.

“Do you want to know my next target, Mr. Fate Professor?”

‘What-?!’ This time, it was Professor’s turn to be surprised.

‘How did he know my real nickname?’

Before he could understand the situation, Charles started walking towards the left side wall and took white chalk from his space ring. Then, he moved his fingers skillfully and wrote a mysterious word on it.

At that moment, Professor’s eyes glowed in reddish-orange color and started peeking into the origin of the language.

‘Strange... There is no such language in the explored universe. Could it be? Did he come from one of the Tri-horizon Belts? I can tell that he loves this language from the way he writes. He even thinks in that language. His mother tongue?’ As he was making guesses, Charles had finished writing the word, turned around, and looked at Professor with a mysterious smile.

Professor gave a grim look and asked.

“Who are you? You are not Charles Nightwind.”

On the other hand, Charles gave him an elegant bow and opened his mouth again.

“I’m a ‘ghost,’ Professor. If you think of me as Charles Nightwind, I’m Charles Nightwind. If you think of me as Oswald Raven, I’m Oswald Raven. If you consider me as yourself, I’m you. The more you search for me, the more I’ll learn about you. I might be standing next to you right now. I might be Hayden, whom you spoke to a while ago. Or, I might be the security guard, standing 10 meters away from your right side. But there is one thing I’m going to do for sure.” He paused for a moment and then added with a smirk.

“I’m going to ruin your whole plan.”

Professor snorted coldly and spoke in an icy tone.

“You have some big mouth, mortal. Humph, I’ll find you even before our-”

Before he could finish his words, Charles shook his head and added.

“Good Luck.”

After that, he waved his hand and broke the illusion.

Professor opened his eyes a second later and clenched his fist in anger.

“It’s been a long time since someone touched my nerve.” He said in an eerie voice, moved towards the left side wall, and started deciphering the mysterious word.

A minute later, he finally deciphered it and soon got stunned.

“Asher? Who is that?” He hurriedly looked at Hayden and asked in confusion.

“Do you know anyone named Asher?”

Meanwhile, Hayden pondered for a moment and soon shook his head.

“No, My Lord. There is no one in that name.”

“What about the Destiny Conquerors? Are there any members named Asher hiding in that organization?” Fate Professor still felt something was off about this clue and asked.

“No, My Lord. There are only sixteen official members in that organization. Except for the head of the Destiny Conquerors, we have all other members’ records.” Hayden said in a solemn tone.

On the other hand, Fate Professor closed his eyes, used his fate skill to check the web of fate strings, and soon opened his eyes.

“Strange... There is indeed a person named Asher hiding in this city. Moreover, he seems to be an important pawn in my plan.”

Puzzlement appeared on his face.

Soon, he shook his head and muttered.

“I’ll ask John to look into the security guidebook later.”

After that, he stepped forward and disappeared from there.

In the meantime, Charles sat comfortably inside the black-colored Hackney Carriage and looked outside through the curtain gap.

At that moment, the carriage entered Rocky Street and drove towards the end of the street.

Within two minutes, Jessie stopped the carriage right next to the entrance to a two-story building and jumped down from the driver’s seat.

After that, she tied the horses’ reins on the nearby tree, turned around, and adjusted her fedora hat.

On the other hand, Charles also opened the carriage door and stepped out. Oliver and Marvin followed him and looked at the surroundings in puzzlement.

Without minding their puzzled gaze, Charles moved towards the wooden fence entrance and was about to open it but stopped.

At that moment, he sensed a gaze from the second floor and soon furrowed as he saw a black owl sitting on the balcony handrail!

In the meantime, the owl suddenly jumped down from the handrail, opened its wings wide, and flew towards him quickly.

Within two seconds, it arrived above him, landed on his head, and made a light peck before speaking in a young feminine voice.

“Welcome to Arayn’s house. Please come inside.”

As it said that, it flapped its wings again and started flying towards the balcony.

“Talking owl?” Jessie was stunned by the owl’s speech.

The same goes for Oliver and Marvin.

On the other hand, Charles opened the fence gate and spoke while shaking his head.

“It’s not just a talking owl. I feel a powerful presence within that owl.”

“You mean this talking owl is Arayn?” Jessie raised her eyebrows and followed him inside.

Oliver and Marvin also didn’t say a word and quietly followed after them.
