Chapter 110: Points
Chapter 110: Points
TL: Sponsored chapter (1/1).
Lightning Cloud Stone Island wasn’t all that big, but it couldn’t be considered small either. However, there was a hidden rule that Xu Disheng had already become aware of by this point.
There was an array on this island that restricted flight, so Spirit Clouds or flying swords and other flying-type Spirit Tools simply couldn’t lift off the ground.
As a result, the disciples scattered throughout the island could only venture into the unending series of stone rooms to obtain more points, by either killing mirage demons or stealing tokens from other disciples.
At a space not far away, the air distorted once more. Several disciples appeared and immediately dashed into the stone rooms.
Xu Disheng didn’t hesitate and randomly chose a tunnel farther away from the rest, entering the endless, sprawling complex of stone rooms.
When he entered, it felt like he was stepping through a screen of heavy water. The view in front of him twisted in a kaleidoscope of light and darkness before returning back to normal clarity.
The walls on both sides of him suddenly became extremely tall, as if they had been built up by another dozen or so meters!
When Xu Disheng surveyed the area again, he found that even the path beneath his feet had widened significantly. However, it wasn’t his surroundings getting bigger. Rather, he had been miniaturized by the power of the array encompassing these stone rooms.
A melodious chirp suddenly rang out to his side, and a small, white sparrow flew out.
Xu Disheng turned his head slightly to the side, watching as the sparrow flew closer. He reached his hand out and swiped through the void. A large hand made of profound qi materialized in midair, catching the white sparrow in its palm.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe sparrow suddenly let out a shrill chirp and it opened its mouth, emitting a spiraling blast of demonic energy that instantly broke through the restraints of the hand made from profound qi.
The white demonic qi around the bird’s body transformed, and in the next moment, it appeared as a viper. It flicked its forked tongue and bit towards Xu Disheng.
“So it seems that the mirage demons’ forms continue to undergo change, and don’t stay fixed,” Xu Disheng murmured to himself. The Imperial Demon Brush appeared in his hand, and he drew in the air with it.
“Sealing Soul.”
A stream of pure, black Soul Force shot out of the tip of the Imperial Demon Brush, forming into a black claw which swiped at the viper. It snatched up the viper, dragging it into the Soul Suppressing Vestment.
“High-rank Clam Demon slain. +43 points.”
Xu Disheng’s brows furrowed slightly.
The Sealing Soul Spell was extremely easy to use, but even though the mirage demon had been pulled into the Soul Suppressing Vestment, it simply turned into qi and dissipated, not increasing the Soul Force in the Soul Vessel in the slightest.
With this, Xu Disheng arrived at the conclusion that these mirage demons didn’t have souls. They were simply beings formed from the qi of the Clam Sea Realm.
The strength of the high-rank mirage demons wasn’t poor, being about on par with a peak Sea of Qi stage disciple. But to the elite disciples, securing victory against these mirage demons wasn’t a difficult task.
After all, the spirit of competition between disciples was still at the core of the tournament. In fact, these mirage demons could be considered a hidden benefit that the Sacred Sect was granting to the disciples.
Xu Disheng had only killed several mirage demons, but he could already perceive that his mind had become calmer than before as a result. The recent days of always being on the move had unknowingly accumulated a hint of unrest in his heart, but he felt this slowly being alleviated.
Last time they met, Bai Zhehua told him that the more mirage demons he killed, the more obvious the effect would be. Once he reached a certain threshold, there would be a qualitative change in the cultivation of his mind.
In the first place, the Clam Sea Realm had been specially refined by that Divine Sea stage powerhouse to help the disciples of the Sacred Sect raise the cultivation of their minds.
Xu Disheng continued on, going through more than 10 stone rooms. Every time he went into a stone room, a mirage demon would come rushing out, appearing in all manners of different forms. Xu Disheng would deal with all of them in a simple manner, accumulating several hundred points in the process.
Xu Disheng noticed that the cultivation of the mirage demons was slowly increasing the further he went in.
He withdrew the Severing Spirit Seal and examined the squashed, dissipating form of the mirage demon before him, his brows creasing slightly.
This mirage demon that had just turned into demonic energy and disappeared was already at a cultivation equivalent to the half-step Dao Foundation stage.
Although these mirage demons didn’t make use of any Spirit Tools or cultivation methods and would merely charge forward blindly, he had only gone through a little over 10 stone rooms by this point. It was only around 100 meters from the place he entered the stone rooms to the place he was now.
Did this mean that there were Dao Foundation stage mirage demons even further in? Or mirage demons with higher spiritual awareness, or perhaps even mirage demons that had the ability to use Demonic Spells?
In the Green Lotus Domain, on the huge screen up in the sky…
“Look, Yu Yangyao already has 2,300 points!” a disciple exclaimed, pointing at the name in first place on the screen.
“1st place, Yu Yangyao. 2,300 points.”
“2nd place, Jian Liangbi. 860 points.”
… …
“Why is the gap between them so large?” A disciple curiously inquired of one of the older disciples at his side who had been at the Sea of Qi stage for a long time.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThere were some older disciples who had let several hundred years slip them by, meaning they at least had quite a bit of experience to draw from. Seeing a lot of nearby disciples also looking towards him, waiting for his answer, he put on an enigmatic facade and said, “You might not know, but I’ve actually been into the Clam Sea Realm twice. The high-rank mirage demons in there are at the peak Sea of Qi stage at the weakest, and at the deepest parts, there are even ones at the peak Dao Foundation stage!”
He pointed up at the light screen floating in the sky and continued, “The reason Yu Yangyao has such a lead over the others must be because he rode on one of his Magic Treasures into the deeper parts and started to slay Dao Foundation stage mirage demons.”
The other disciples became even more puzzled. One of them asked, “I heard that mirage demons are extremely weak. Why didn’t any other people immediately fly in deeper and start killing Dao Foundation stage mirage demons too?”
That old disciple realized that his words were facing some skepticism, and he immediately felt a hint of discontent rise up in him. He snorted coldly and said, “Although I don’t know what setting of the Clam Sea Realm they’re in, flying is always prohibited, no matter what setting they end up in! Only those with Magic Treasures can proceed quickly into the deeper parts. The other disciples can only slowly slaughter through the mirage demons to make their way in.”
As they were speaking, some of the names on the light screen suddenly shot upwards. In the blink of an eye, more than a dozen disciples had over 2,000 points as well!
Seeing the stunned looks on the faces of the other disciples as they stared up at the light screen, he commented smugly, “You all see that? Those people are all geniuses with Magic Treasures. As I said, they all must have flown in deeper on their Magic Treasures and started slaughtering Dao Foundation stage mirage demons!”
In the end, the points of those in the top 10 hovered momentarily at about 2,000 points. However, Yu Yangyao, in his position as first place, already had well over 6,000 points!
Although Xu Disheng had the Yin Yang Diagram, which was capable of flight, he didn’t know about this way of doing things. At this moment, with the more than 10 mirage demons he had fought through, in addition to the other points he had, Xu Disheng had more than 1,000 points. On the light screen, that placed him at rank 300 or so.
However, the others who had been killing Dao Foundation stage mirage demons all this time had already obtained over 2,000 points. The speed at which they were accumulating points far outstripped Xu Disheng’s own rate.
Another half-step Dao Foundation stage mirage demon appeared before him once more, in the shape of a target. Xu Disheng immediately swiped it away and destroyed it, but his brows furrowed once more.
Was the route that he chose too far-flung? Ever since he entered the complex of stone rooms, he hadn’t run into any other disciples.
But there were all kinds of entrances and doors on the four sides of the stone rooms, and the array encompassing the place had even shrunk his body down. Could it be that the design of this place was to intentionally make it so disciples didn’t run into each other in the beginning?
Xu Disheng continued to fight forward, slaughtering several more mirage demons before the path suddenly gave way to a wide clearing. There was a pause in the seemingly unending complex of stone rooms, resulting in an empty zone nearly 100 meters across.
As he crossed the blank space, he looked to both sides of him and could see the situation on some of the other paths. In the span of a few breaths, Xu Disheng saw several disciples on their own paths, charging past the empty gap without stopping as they pressed on to their next passages.
Xu Disheng pondered momentarily, but he didn’t go to the other passages that the disciples passed through. After traversing the empty space, he simply continued on to the next stone room in his path.
