*BANG*
"Ouch, it still hurts. '' Raydon winced as he examined the barely visible scar left on his chest by the arrow that had shattered on impact.
''I saw it before, but your defense still amazes me,'' Fehim said.
Before, he had used all of his strength to attack Raydon without using his helix attack skill, but he had only managed to leave a single cut. Now, even if he was attacking with a combo with the Helix skill, he didn't think he could inflict anything but a little big wound from just a cut.
Raydon said glumly, "Just be sure to hold me in place, this attack really can make me fly."
Being a human shield for a zombie was embarrassing enough, but knowing that he would fly like a ball with an arrow attack because he had nothing but stamina made him even more embarrassed.
''Don't worry,'' Fehim replied.
From the outside, it must have looked hilarious to see Fehim's body, which was a full half a meter taller and larger than Raydon's, holding him from behind and bending his head as he tried to take cover behind him while Raydon blocked incoming arrows with his body.
Raydon clenched his teeth and said, "Shit, can't you just fire those arrows faster?"
The zombie saw that its arrows weren't doing much damage, but it kept firing them at the same rate anyway. It seems likely that its brain was only functioning well enough for basic fighting strategies, and that it lacked the foresight to devise a cunning plan to sneak past Raydon's defense and then just sit there and keep firing arrows until the enemy is defeated.
Over time, he began to count the arrows in the bag on the zombie's back, ignoring the redness caused by the arrow strikes on his body.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt''Prepare for the attack. '' Raydon remarked to Fehim as he observed that the zombie, which had rained arrows down on them without thinking like a machine, had few arrows remaining.
*BAM*
"Now!" He yelled when he saw the zombie shoot its final arrow.
In response to Raydon's command, Fehim immediately activated all of his combo skills and began running towards the zombie.
''Decompose. ''
''Boost Muscle. ''
''Helix Strike. ''
Fehim pounced on his enemy with the ferocity of every new hole he had so far received in his body.
When the zombie, who was out of arrows, saw Fehim coming at it, it realized that this attack posed a threat, so it retreated and made an effort to avoid it. However, another attack was hiding behind Fehim's body.
Raydon's hook skill, which he used at the same time as the Fehim began his attack, surprised the zombie soldier, tangled in his feet, and prevented him from escaping by jumping back.
*Swhissh*
With great speed, Fehim's ax, which was spewing yellow scattering fumes, slammed into the helpless zombie soldier in front of him, severing it in two.
[Lv.31 Zombie Soldier Slave(E-Rank) has been killed.]
[You gained 468 experience points.]
''Fuck! Are you serious??? All this time, I was the one who took all the fucking blows. '' Raydon became enraged when he saw the system message that appeared after the zombie soldier died and began swearing.
''Shit. So I have to deal more damage to get a bigger share of the experience points? Fuck this nonsense,'' Raydon swore.
''What happened? '' Fehim approached with his ax on his shoulder and inquired after observing Raydon's outburst.
''Tch, nothing. Let's rest until your mana is full. '' Raydon said this, and then he went and kicked the zombie soldier's body. He then put it in his dimensional storage in case he could sell it later for some gold.
While Fehim was resting, Raydon frowned and looked around at the thickening fog. His vision was deteriorating to the point where he could see no more than 15 meters ahead of him.
'And what is this feeling? It's as if the number of eyes watching us from the fog is growing. ' He muttered.
They had already exhausted nearly all of their resources in order to kill two zombie soldiers earlier. They might be able to handle the next wave of attack if there are only three zombie soldiers, but any more than that could be disastrous.
Raydon's biggest concern, meanwhile, was the abundance of watchful eyes he sensed on him at the moment. He couldn't pick just three or four, and it seemed like hundreds, if not thousands, of terrifying creatures were waiting for them in the mist.
"Surely that can't be true. This is merely an F-Rank inheritance. '' He made an effort to dismiss the idea from his mind.
"Are you sensing it?"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmRaydon, his mind deep in thought, looked up at Fehim, who was sitting on the ground and calling to him.
''Sensing what? '' Raydon was confused and asked him to clarify.
"The ground seems to be trembling." He spoke while sitting there with his hands on the ground.
Raydon, who found this peculiar, knelt down and placed his hands on the ground, where he felt vibrations emanating from the dry, gray earth.
''It's very strange. The ground has never trembled before, as far as I can tell. '' They had sat on the ground many times before for rest, but never before had they felt the vibration.
"Hey, the shaking is growing," Fehim said in a quavering voice. He jumped to his feet, activated his green body armor once more, and positioned himself defensively with his ax.
"Look at the mist. Keep close; there's definitely something going on. '' Raydon noticed that the fog, which had been growing thicker and thicker around them up until this point, was finally starting to thin out.
Additionally, they were no longer required to place their hands on the ground in order to feel the ground's vibration. The fog cleared more quickly and the field of view grew wider as the ground vibration grew.
After a short while, the ground started to shake so violently that it started to crack, making it difficult to even stand upright. By this time, the fog was dissipating more quickly, exposing what it had been hiding on the inside and confirming Raydon's earlier fears.
''Who the fuck said this is only an F-Rank inheritance?'' Fehim said, his voice shaking as much as his body. All hope of survival appeared to have been extinguished by what the mist had revealed.
