Help! I don't want to NTR the protagonist!



As he spoke, Xander went from direct threats to a set of more implicit ones, but that only made his words more terrifying.

Nothing was scarier than your own imagination.

In just a few seconds Louis had already pictured dozens of catastrophic outcomes for the Beaumont family and his face went a little pale thinking about all of them.

Thinking like this, Lous could only shake his head.

For the future and reputation of the family he could only do this.

His sister and her little lover couldn't blame him for this. If anything they could only blame themselves for offending a count this far!

Louis walked up to Lucius and took a good look at him.

"Kid, don't blame me for this but this is on you."

Taking a deep breath, Louis looked Lucius up and down and spoke

"In the name and honour of the Beaumont family, I, Louis Beaumont challenge you to a duel."

Lucius didn't react much since when he interceded he was expecting something like this.

It would be impossible for Xander and his lackey to randomly fight him in the academy due since the teachers were watching them closely after their past incident, but formal duels were still well within the school rules.

Naturally, using a proxy to fight in duels was also allowed. Lucius wasn't so naïve that he expected Xander to fight freely or use someone at similar strength to him to fight.

Lucius calmly looked at Louis and responded without any fear.

"This duel of yours, I accept it."

It was a bit shocking for a first-year to fight a third-year but either way, this duel was unavoidable.

This was a duel pertaining to Veronica's honour.

Lucius naturally didn't care much about such things as honour and reputation, but the same couldn't be said about Veronica.

If he really didn't accept the duel, Veronica may end up drowning in her own depression. Besides, wasn't this the perfect opportunity to relearn love points?

And Lucius wasn't just blinded by the benefits and greed when he accepted the duel.

He only accepted the duel since he had the confidence to win.

Since with this duel he would just speed up something that was already on his to do list, the gathering of a new power up!

Since the duel had been accepted all that was left was to determine the fate and Lucius couldn't be bothered staying around and arguing with Xander so he just told him that he could pick any time a week from now.

After saying that, he grabbed Veronica's hand and walked out.

But before he left he took a stop in front of the snake-eyed young man.

Lucius red eye scanned the man causing the hairs in his body to stand on edge 

"Oscar right?"

Hearing Lucius's voice, he didn't know why but his instincts were telling him that this was definitely someone to guard against.

But Oscar's mind was still filled with a lot of doubts.

How could Lucius over turn this situation? He had a clear grasp of the young man's strength. It would simply be impossible to fight against a third year in his current state.

Thinking like this Oscar looked at Lucius once again but he just greeted him with a slight smile which only caused Oscar to feel more and more uneasy

"Although we didn't get off on the best of terms, Let's get along. I feel like I'll be seeing a lot of your from now on"

Oscar's eyes widened a little but  before he could question Lucius on the meaning behind his words, Lucius just grabbed Veronica's arm and walked away leaving Oscar a little stupefied and disgruntled.

Clearly the two hadn't had a confrontation in any way but yet somehow, Oscar was still stuck with the faint feeling that he had somehow lost…

As Lucius and Veronica walked away they didn't stop and continued walking until they went down several corridors and were far away from Xander and the others.

As the two of them walked neither of them spoke but right now Veronicas mind was filled all sorts of thoughts 

'Duel? Love? His woman? Just what is going on with Lucius! Just what is he planning!'

She had said so many things back there in the heat of the moment and acted so impulsively, so right now her thoughts were a complete mess

Eventually, Veronica couldn't contain her questions any longer and spoke out. And when the first words left her mouth, it was like the opening of the floodgates.

"Lucius, what happened back there? You came out of nowhere and said so many things. I said so many things and now there's even a duel. Just what do we-"

But before Veronica could carry on, Lucius just flicked her forehead causing her to cry out in pain

"Oww!"

Veronica covered he forehead with a slightly aggrieved expression as Lucius looked her in the eye and said 

"Listen here Veronica. Now you've said and done things that you simply can't take back. You crossed the bridge and there is no return. If things are like this then what's the point in overthinking all this?

At times like this, when your mind is clouded, you don't think with your mind but with your heart. Just do whatever your heart tells you because that's what will make you happy and at the end of the day, your own happiness is the most important thing."

Listening to Lucius's words, Veronica felt her heart speed up

'My own happiness.. my heart...'

Looking at the handsome young man in front of her, Veronica felt her heart speed up even faster 

'Ahh.. really, why is he like this? Why is he so kind to me?'

It was times Like this that left Veronica quite stupefied.

It was as if Lucius knew her own thoughts better than her.

Every time she felt down, he knew just the right words to say to make her feel better again.
