So… I scolded Evander yesterday?
At that moment, Angeline felt as if she had run out of breath. Her fingers trembled as they flew across the
keyboard on her phone. She typed: Floretta, you can’t joke about things like this.
Soon, Floretta replied: I’m not lying. You were really impressive! No one has ever dared to oppose Daddy like that.
Oppose?
Still unable to believe it, Angeline scrolled up to read the conversation history and realized that she had indeed
video-called Floretta for half an hour.
Her expression changed drastically as she massaged her head. A look of regret filled her eyes.
I’m doomed!
Ever since young, she would lose control over herself once she became drunk. She had never expected herself to
cause such huge trouble this time.
Although she resented Evander, she was still competing with Denise to become Starlight Jewelry’s next ambassador
after all. Now that she had just offended her direct superior, her future did not seem bright.
Upon contemplation, Angeline found Evander’s number on her phone and drafted a message carefully: Mr. Golding,
it was very impolite of me last night. I’m sorry.
She read through the draft multiple times to ensure that there were no typos before she dared to send it.
After almost ten minutes, Evander still did not reply.
Angeline could feel her heart in her throat. She bit her lower lip so hard that it became swollen. Yet, all she could do
was console herself that having no responses was a good thing.
Nancy was using her phone in the back seat when Angeline got into the car. The moment she saw Angeline, she
stopped typing and sneered, “Explain yourself, Ms. Sorelle. Your scandal at the banquet is plastered all over the
morning news.”
“It’s a long story.”
Angeline sat beside her and opened a packet of snacks at the side. “I bumped into Hanson and Joseline last night.
Joseline has most likely hired ghostwriters on the internet.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“What?” Nancy widened her eyes in surprise. “I heard insiders saying that their wedding day is approaching. If she’s
seeking trouble with you at this juncture, doesn’t that mean that Hanson still has feelings for you?”
A cold glint appeared in Angeline’s eyes. “I know him very well. He always puts profit first.”
After a pause, Nancy asked with concern, “How are you…”
“I’m fine.” Angeline crushed the remaining potato chips in the bag and poured them into her mouth. “If Joseline
sends you a wedding invitation, remember to accept it!”
Since Joseline had spent so much effort trying to defame her, she would give her a wedding gift in return.
Screech!
Just when they were about to arrive at the rehearsal venue, the driver abruptly stepped on the brake. The car
jerked, causing Angeline’s body to lurch forward. Luckily, she was wearing the safety belt, or the consequences
would be unimaginable.
“What happened?” Nancy looked worried.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Sorelle. I was driving just fine, but a car suddenly came charging in my direction and blocked my
path. I have no choice but to step on the brake.” The driver patted his chest, still feeling shocked.
As he spoke, the car that he was referring to overtook them. The car window rolled down, allowing them to catch a
glimpse of the person sitting inside.
It was none other than Denise. Her red lips parted as she lifted her sunglasses slightly and revealed the smug look
in her eyes.
It was evident that she had done it on purpose.
“Is she crazy? Does she have a death wish?” Nancy slapped the car seat furiously. “She hasn’t even become the
ambassador yet, but she’s already bullying us!”
Sitting in front, the driver, in a dilemma, asked, “Should I still drive?”
“Yes! Overtake them!”
“That’s… impossible. It’s obvious that their driver is a professional and they’re already so far ahead of us,” said the
driver carefully, his forehead filled with sweat.
“D*mn it!” Nancy was purple with rage. She could not stomach this anger.
Right then, Angeline, who had been quiet, opened the car door, walked to the driver’s seat, and ordered the driver,
“Go to the back. I’ll drive.”
“Angeline, are you sure about this?” Nancy asked.
Angeline sneered. After changing seats with the driver, she instructed them, “Buckle up!”
Then she slammed her foot against the accelerator and the car shot forward in the direction of Denise’s path.
Nancy screamed as she clutched her seatbelt. Even the driver’s expression changed.
The wind howled beside their ears while the buildings around them became a blur—it was impossible to see
anything. However, Angeline remained calm as she drove steadily on the road.
Soon, they saw Denise’s car and Angeline slowed down. When the distance between them narrowed, she shifted to
the highest gears and crashed into their car.
Their car smashed into a utility pole, causing smoke to billow from the bonnet.
Since Denise did not buckle her seat belt, her head crashed against the car seat, and her phone was sent flying out.
Feeling dizzy from the sudden crash, her manager yelled furiously, “What happened? Do you not know how to
drive?”
The driver hugged his head and stared at the bonnet in a daze. He was on the verge of breaking down.
Enduring the pain and raising her head, Denise took out a mirror from her bag immediately and stared at her
reflection. There was a huge bruise on her forehead.
Meanwhile, other than a few scratches, Angeline’s car was fine. She drove forward, rolled down the car window,
and gave Denise the middle finger.
Hearing the joyous laughter in Angeline’s car, Denise trembled in fury and a vicious glint flitted across her beautiful
eyes.
While concealing her bruise with powder, her manager comforted, “All right, don’t be angry. This is the only way for
her to vent her frustration. She’ll be taught a lesson later.”
“I must win!” spat Denise resentfully through gritted teeth. Gripping her bag, she hissed in pain and snapped, “Not

She had planned to intimidate Angeline before the rehearsal. Yet little did she expect Angeline to be so skilled at
driving.
After Angeline parked the car at the rehearsal venue, Nancy alighted from the car while cheering and asked in
surprise, “Since when were you so good at driving, Angeline?”
Angeline got out of the car and stretched her back. Feeling comfortable again, she tossed the keys to the driver. “I
won a racing championship when I was overseas.”
Nancy was rendered speechless.
When they entered the set, the director and the other staff were all busy.
Angeline headed to the dressing room first. While getting her makeup done, she read the script.
Denise, on the other hand, was late for twenty minutes. When she hurried into the dressing room and noticed how
relaxed Angeline was, fury overwhelmed her.
Suppressing her anger, Denise sat down and let the makeup artist do her makeup. When the latter accidentally
touched the bruise on her forehead, she gasped in pain. “Do you know how to do your job? Where’s your manager?
Get him to find someone else for me.”
“I-I’m sorry, Ms. Campbell,” the makeup artist said, sounding as though she was on the verge of tears.
Denise was already in a horrible mood, but Angeline grabbed the opportunity and mocked, “Ms. Campbell, did
someone anger you? Is there a need to vent your frustration on a makeup artist?”
“Can you be any more shameless?” Denise looked daggers at her.
Angeline picked up her teacup slowly and put on an innocent look. “I don’t know what you mean.”
“You…”
Denise gripped the table. If she could, she wished for nothing more than to throw all the bottles on the table at
Angeline’s face.
However, when she remembered the call she received that morning, she laughed out loud. “Angeline, don’t be so
pleased with yourself just yet. Soon, you’ll be in tears.”
