Chapter 461 Go Back To Yeverie
Jonathan was deeply concerned about Yeverie. While she didn't participate in the battle, he knew she would be
concerned about how he fared. Unfortunately, they couldn't contact one another as no cell phones were available.
Judging by his current condition, Jonathan decided to grab a bite and rest for an hour. He would meet Yeverie
afterward and bring her back to Demon Palace to discuss their next course of action.
Jonathan had sufficient storage rings and food. He drank some goat's milk and gobbled down half of the frozen
lamb shank.
Once he was done, he sat down cross-legged.
An hour later, his body had healed completely, thanks to his impressive recovery rate. He was once again back in
optimal condition.
He told Torrence, “I'll help you roast a lamb shank and heat up some of the goat's milk. Use them to fill up your
stomach while I bring Yeverie over.”
Torrence nodded.
Jonathan prepared to leave Demon Palace after getting Torrence settled.
However, he was stumped by yet another difficulty. Demon Palace was situated thirty meters below the horizon.
How could Jonathan go back up there if he couldn't fly?
It wouldn't have been a problem back when he and Torrence could work together, but considering the latter's state,
that was no longer an option.
No matter how capable Jonathan was, it would be impossible for him to leap thirty meters into the air. Gravity still
existed in any dimension.
While he had a rope in hand, he could not use it to lasso the peak and pull himself up.
Jonathan was truly at an impasse.
He suddenly remembered that although Skylar's body mutated drastically when he leaped down back then, he
couldn't have made it back up alone.
What's the point of Torrence and me jumping down to kill him? It would be a waste of effort. How strange it is.
Jonathan and Torrence were simultaneously confounded and initially missed out on the golden opportunity to do
away with Skylar. They then learned from their blunder after witnessing how impressive Skylar was and pursued
him all the way here. However, they never considered the fact that Skylar would be trapped in Demon Palace after
losing Moose.
This was an oversight in their thought process. It was like when one went looking for their cell phone all over the
house only to realize that they'd been holding on to it all the while.
Nevertheless, fate seemed to have a hand in this. If Torrence and Jonathan had not returned, Jonathan would not
have had such a bizarre encounter which helped to establish his future foundation and enabled him to survive in

The problem at hand was that Jonathan couldn't think of a way to conquer the thirty-meter height.
He didn't spend too much time cracking his head over it as he soon figured that Moose and the rest must've been
prepared to climb before they came here. The rope was the best indication that the storage ring contained tools for
hiking.
He immediately went searching inside the storage ring for what he needed. To his dismay, he found no reliable
hiking tools after rifling through it for some time and only found two shiny daggers.
An idea sparked in his mind, and he tied two distinct lengths of rope to each dagger. He secured them tightly and
grabbed a dagger, aiming it at the peak of the ice before hurling it with a tremendous force, akin to launching a
cannonball.
Following a loud crack, the dagger buried itself deep into the ice.
It was secure and showed no signs of detaching when Jonathan tried tugging it.
He subsequently hurled the second dagger upward.
Now that both daggers were firmly planted in the ice, Jonathan felt more assured and began climbing up, clinging
onto the ropes.
Just as he was about to reach the peak, he swung his body and leaped upwards, successfully exiting Demon Palace.
The top of Demon Palace was still enveloped in snow at that point.
The sky was bright at two in the afternoon, and strong gusts of wind blew past.
Jonathan was in high spirits, his body overflowing with inexplicable strength. He dashed toward the north at the
speed of lightning.
It took no effort for Jonathan to find the tent where Yeverie was located two hours later.
Hearing the noise, she emerged from the tent as soon as Jonathan approached. She donned a black cape, and her
hair was slightly damp with bits of snow piled atop her head.
Yeverie appeared to be in her late teens, exuding a captivating aura of youthful beauty.
If she were in university, she would likely be an innocent and graceful freshman who captured the hearts of male
undergraduates.
Even if she were in high school, she would be the popular girl and the apple of everyone's eyes.
Jonathan let out a breath of relief upon seeing that she was safe and sound.
Yeverie was overjoyed at the sight of Jonathan. She sprinted toward him like an excited puppy and threw herself
into his arms. “Your Majesty, I was so scared!”
Jonathan embraced Yeverie tightly.
“Your Majesty, I was worried that you and Mr. Torrence won't be coming back. I didn't want to remain hidden here
because it made me feel as though I'm weak, but at the same time, I didn't want to add to your burdens by tagging
along.”
Jonathan empathized with Yeverie.
While he and the others were the ones who faced life-and-death situations at the frontlines, Yeverie, who was
protected behind them, was subjected to mental torture as well.
Nonetheless, considering her experience and cultivation level, she would only become a hindrance to Jonathan if
she were to join the battle. Jonathan and Torrence would be doomed if she were to end up injured.
“Everything's fine now, silly girl. I understand,” Jonathan comforted her.
A thought suddenly occurred to Yeverie, and she pulled away from Jonathan's embrace. Her voice was full of
trepidation. “Where's Mr. Torrence?”
“He's slightly injured and is still at Demon Palace. But his life is not in danger as we've defeated Skylar and Moose's
puppet primordial spirit. Besides, we met Holy Dragon!”
Yeverie was surprised. “Is that true? What does Holy Dragon look like?”
Jonathan replied, “Let's pack our things first and return to Demon Palace. Torrence is still waiting for us, so I'll tell
you all about it on the way.”
Yeverie nodded.
Jonathan put on a cape as well after dismantling and storing the tent. The duo then made their way back to Demon
Palace.
He recounted everything that happened there during their journey. Yeverie couldn't help but place her hand over
her chest upon hearing about their near-death experiences.
Jonathan chuckled. “I feel like a cat with nine lives.”
Yeverie curled her lips into a smile. “Your Majesty, you are exceptionally blessed!”
“I certainly am to have you here with me!” Jonathan burst out laughing.
Yeverie couldn't help blushing at his sweet nothings and felt all fluffy inside. She wanted to tell Jonathan that she felt
blessed to be by his side, too, but she was too shy to.
They arrived at Demon Palace two hours later and made for Dragon Palace without further ado.
The place was filled with the putrid odor of decay and blood, a result of Skylar's brutalized body.
The sight was one worth lamenting over. Skylar held the esteemed position of Supreme Sect's cardinal while he was
still alive. Moreover, he was a prodigy with good looks to boot and was admired by many women.
Unfortunately, his body was so badly mutilated after his death that the mere sight of it would cause people's
stomachs to turn.
Glory is a fleeting thing that is possessed only by the powerful. When one loses everything, they become worth
nothing more than trash.
This was the harsh reality.
Impulsively sacrificing oneself for patriotism or a loved one might evoke feelings of poignancy and euphoria in the
heat of the moment.
Yet a decade later, one's lover would have already belonged to another man. Perhaps she might occasionally think
of her past lover with a tinge of sadness or not at all.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWould it be worth it if that were the case?
Same goes for the revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the prosperity and peace of their
motherland. Nowadays, what else did they get in return for their heroic acts besides being commemorated during
Memorial Day?
On top of that, plenty of the younger generation dismissed their sacrifices as trivial.
Once again, would one's sacrifices be worth it?
The answer was of course not. Yet not everything on this earth had to be measured based on their worth.
Not every question had an answer, and neither were all things black and white. Every coincidental happening was
part of destiny.
Yeverie noticed Torrence sitting cross-legged to heal his internal wounds. She swiftly approached and greeted him,
“Mr. Torrence.”
Torrence opened his eyes and smiled at her. “Yeverie, you're here.”
“How are you feeling?”
“Much better. Don't worry. It's no biggie.” He paused before continuing, “It's just that this place reeks.”
Jonathan erupted in laughter.
“Is this Clarabelle?” Yeverie instantly noted the gigantic dragon egg at the side.
“You're right!” Torrence responded.
Jonathan urged, “All right, this isn't the best place to chat. Let's find somewhere clean instead.”
Torrence nodded.
Jonathan carried Torrence on his back while Yeverie took the dragon egg.
They headed to Feather Palace, where they used to stay. The tents set up there were still in perfect condition.
Jonathan lit a fire talisman after all of them entered, warming up the room.
Yeverie started cooking shortly after.
The dragon egg was carefully placed in a secure location. There was nothing much they could do besides waiting
patiently for it to hatch.
It was indeed a very thrilling experience to witness the birth of a dragon.
It was a shame that Jonathan couldn't record footage of such a magical moment without a phone.
Disregarding that matter, Jonathan addressed Torrence, “Let me inspect your wounds. Stretch out your hand.”
Torrence's face was sickly pale, and he smiled bitterly. “My internal organs are severely damaged. Thankfully, I
have an exceptional recovery rate. That said, it'll take at least a month to heal completely. I don't have access to
any medication here in this snowy tundra.”
“You shouldn't be so pessimistic. I know that the dragon clan possesses healing magic.” Jonathan took hold of
Torrence's hand while speaking and felt his pulse.
Jonathan uttered suddenly, “You wouldn't have been wounded if you didn't stop Skylar from finishing me off.”
“I had no idea that the Holy Dragon would appear. Besides, I thought that since we would die anyway, whoever died
first didn't matter. I wouldn't have saved you if I'd known how things would turn out,” Torrence replied with a wry
smile.
