Roar!
Khun unleashed a roar as he flew through the skies in the entirety of his grandeur as a Dragon, carrying four people on his back that were geared up to the teeth, staring in all seriousness.
Currently, they were rushing towards a town that had been ambushed by the Demons. This town was situated on the side of a lake, far away from the warfront. But strangely, it had been targeted by the Demons.
The moment they received the news, the Hero party took action immediately, setting off on Khun's back. As a Grandmaster Dragon, he was damn fast, allowing them to arrive at the scene the quickest.
"Gilthru, why do you think the Demons are aiming at that town?" Zaira asked, "You have plenty of experience regarding this, right?"
"If there isn't any strategic resource or individual station in that town, I can only think of three reasons," Gilthru said.
"Three?" The Elf was surprised that there were three reasons.
"First is the most obvious reason." Gilthru said, pointing at himself, "To find talented individuals to tame. My village and plenty of such places were attacked for that reason. And this happens among all the races."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Go on." Zaira nodded, frowning at the thought, "Have they always been successful in finding good locations to attack and obtain talented Tamed Beasts?"
"Yes, they have two Pseudo-Saint Divination Specialists of the Elven Race as Tamed Beasts under them." Gilthru said, "And thanks to them, they're able to target the locations where they're bound to find someone talented."
A Divination Specialist was someone capable of reading the energies of heaven and earth and the flow of all life. Through that, they were able to figure out secrets regarding people, fate, natural calamities, etc.
In the entire Elven Race, there were just five Pseudo-Saint Divination Specialists. And among them, two had been captured by the Demons.
The Saint of Calamity had personally taken action against the Elven Race to capture those two assets that allowed the Demon Race to expand rapidly.
The Elf accompanying them gritted her teeth at Gilthru's words, for she was a Divinisation Specialist herself. As it was a Sub-Profession, she was only able to have it.
"The second condition might be the presence of Elemental Spirits there," Gilthru said. Elementalists unleashed their power by contracting with Elemental Spirits. Elemental Spirits were beings of pure attributed mana, only birthed in special locations.
Depending on the location, the attribute they had varied. And unlike a Human Mage, an Elementalist can wield the power of the Elemental Spirit he wielded. This meant that if he wished to change his power, he only needed to change the Elemental Spirit.
Though, each Elementalist was only able to control one. And as they needed to train to gain control over the new Elemental Spirit, they generally refrained from changing their Elemental Spirit. But, they still had this option, unlike Human Mages whose element was fixed right from the start.
"Elemental Spirits…" Zaira nodded, "Since it's a town near a massive lake, there might be Water Elemental Spirits there."
She then asked, "What's the third reason?"
"Data," Gilthru said as Zaira's heart thumped in response, feeling that she was strangely able to resonate with the term.
"Are you alright?" Gilthru said upon seeing that Zaira began to pant all of a sudden.
"It's nothing, continue," Zaira said, circulating her mana to calm herself faster. She was feeling a headache though, as every time Khun flew over a region, the thoughts regarding the Demons from the people there turned into Mental Energy streams and flowed into her mind, constantly echoing there nonstop.
Even though he was concerned, Gilthru knew that it wasn't in his place to ask, especially since he was directly responsible for the fall of her Kingdom, speaking, "The third reason is directly related to the Saint of Calamity."
"The power of a Conjurer."
"The power of a Conjurer?" Lorbordo asked in wonder, "I've never seen a Conjurer in action. What…exactly do they do actually?"
"Even among the Demon Race, there are less than a hundred Conjurers. And the strongest among them is only a Master. It had been that way for ages until the Saint of Calamity casually breezed through the ranks like it was nothing." Gilthru said, thinking for a moment before speaking, "I've seen a Conjurer work his magic once."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHe then pointed at the Magic Tools they were given by Magister, "These were created using a Conjurer's power. A Conjurer is capable of conjuring anything inanimate. And this included Magic Tools, ores, etc."
"As long as they have touched and figured out its essence, they can conjure the same anytime they please." He continued. "So, this is why they are attacking various places. The buildings, Magic Tools, workshops, etc. are all precious blueprints that further a Conjurer's power and versatility."
"Even though they have strategic value, their combat strength doesn't seem to be much." Zaira conjectured as such, "After all, they cannot fight, right?"
"For the Conjurers that only managed to become a Master, yes, they cannot fight. But, even they can create a castle to lock themselves up in or conjure a construct created by a Metal Mage or Elementalist." Gilthru said, "They have their own means to fight. And…"
"This is just my conjecture, but the Saint of Calamity can probably even conjure people. That might also be why they've decided to attack the rest of the continent in the first place, to gain more blueprints of people for the Saint of Calamity to equip himself with." He concluded.
A minute after that, the Dragon Khun arrived at the airspace above the town, noticing smoke billowing out of buildings in some locations as a figure was already engaged with the enemies.
It was Arnark as he hacked the group of Orcs that rushed the town's defences. The garrison stationed there struggled to deal with them already when Goblins and even Ogres rushed at the walls, having broken through multiple locations.
"Let's attack…" Zaira was just about to speak when a gust of wind flowed past her as Gilthru's figure jetted towards the town as a giant wind sword extended out of his arm like a bird. He flashed around, causing a trail of Orc heads to fall on the ground.
Boom!
He slammed into a Grandmaster Ogre, attacking it before it could unleash its Warlock ability, turning its body into a metal sculpture that he then kicked, causing it to crash into the Demon Tamer that was controlling them all.
A group of Orcs defended against the metal sculpture when Gilthru's figure landed behind them. and with a twirl of his body, his wind blade severed the bodies of all the Orcs and the Demon they defended into two, killing them all in a rain of blood.
